The Essex Rose Tea Room

This is our favourite place. Service is excellent and very efficient. Staff very friendly. Food is delicious and nicely presented. Lovely surroundings. What more can you ask for it is a real treat to go to Essex Rose

One of the best full English breakfasts I've had in a long time! Very tasty, good quality ingredients and lovely, friendly service. Not to mention the value for money! I wasn't able to sample the cakes but they looked incredible.

We were celebrating joint birthdays as it was my partners birthday today and mine last week. We had a great welcome from the staff, the food was freshly prepared, served quickly and delicious. Total let down today, messed our order up completely, sandwiches were dry, sausage roll was forgotten altogether so my daughter had to wait even longer again and the scone literally fell to pieces. Staff looked and acted rushed and stressed. Definitely not in a rush to return and pay that amount for the food and service we received.

This charming tea room has a delightful atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is consistently delicious and the staff are always welcoming and accommodating. The setting is beautiful and inviting, making it feel like a home away from home. The staff always goes above and beyond to assist guests. I highly recommend trying the afternoon tea.

Myself and two friends enjoyed the best afternoon tea I have had in a long time. Everything was clearly freshly made .. we were a bit fussy and they accommodated every request in a friendly fashion. What set this apart from other experiences were that each person gets old and hot drinks for the set price , the quality of the food and the lovely staff. Book in advance. we stopped here to take sandwiches during a walk around the constable country and can not recommend enough. our sandwiches (a crowning chicken and a cheddar) came on paper plates with scratches and salat garnish all packed in foil. we found a place at the river and tucked in- they were absolutely delicious. the staff of essex rose were very friendly and service was fast. will definitely visit again if the next in the opposite many thanks for a super lunch xx

This is a lovely tea room that strikes the right balance of elegance without being too fancy. They offer a tasty selection of cakes, including some unique options like the St. Clements cake. While we were tempted by the crocheted sandwiches displayed in the window, they unfortunately were not available on the menu. The cream tea was definitely the highlight of our visit, featuring two large freshly baked scones served with cream and your choice of jam. It was a truly delightful experience.

Our experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. They did not have jacket potatoes, mozzarella, or vegan cheese available, without informing us beforehand. The service was very slow, with our simple order of two toasted tea cakes and three toasted sandwiches taking far too long to prepare. To make matters worse, when the food finally arrived, the sandwiches were not what we had ordered, leading to additional delays in receiving the correct meals.
