"Our first visit and a bit of a “middling” experience really. TBF, if I could, I’d give it 3.5 stars, rather than 3. So, pros and cons Pros : Parking was easy. The Staff were friendly. The room we stayed in was pleasant enough and quiet (as we’d asked for . It got rather hot during the night, but of course that’s subjective; some people would love it hot. The food was mostly good, I say mostly, as my wife had the steak, which although small, was good, (I nicked a piece . I had the pork schnitzel and although to be fair it was ok, it didn’t really taste of much. The singer they had in was really good, we enjoyed listening to him. The wine was nice, (but see Cons below . Cons: My wife ordered a side dish, but it never appeared and before too long it became pointless to chase it up. We also asked for a dessert menu which never appeared either and unfortunately there wasn’t anyone around to follow up with immediately by the time there was, we’d lost interest. The wine was nice, but for the price, I should hope so! I’m sorry, but over £11 for a large glass of non fancy Chardonnay is expensive given the location. Breakfast was included in the price, which was good as if we’d had to pay separately, we’d would have complained. We both got served up a cold large mushroom and a barely cooked cold tomato, plus a vegan sausage (unasked for;there was also a tiny skinny meat sausage which we had asked for , which was unfortunate given the length of time it took for the meals to appear. All in all, we’d have to ponder as whether to go back again. The room was quite nice the place has some charm, entertainment good and the staff were friendly. But the issues with the food , (it’s not cheap either! , and the differing levels of service, means it wouldn’t be at the top of our “go to” places."

"A once-loved pub falls short with steep price hikes I've been a loyal patron of this pub for years, drawn by its charming atmosphere and consistently delicious lunch offerings. It was a true hidden gem, a place where one could escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a hearty meal at a fair price. Unfortunately, my recent visit left me feeling disappointed and concerned about the pub's future. The lunch prices have skyrocketed, with a burger now costing £18 and an additional £3 for bacon. This significant increase is not reflected in the quality of the food, which remains unchanged. It feels as though the management is taking advantage of its loyal clientele, price gouging without delivering a commensurate improvement in the dining experience. Given the abundance of competition in the area, I fear that this pub may struggle to maintain its customer base if it persists with its current pricing strategy. I urge the management to reconsider their decision and bring their prices back to a more reasonable level. Otherwise, they risk losing not only my patronage but also that of many other loyal customers. In its heyday, this pub was a fantastic spot for a satisfying lunch. "Popped into the Queen's Head on the way back through Eynsham from Blenheim Palace. Greated by very friendly staff and locals, who made us feel very welcome. We were recommended the rib and chicken wing combo and we are very glad because it was delicious! Finished with the sticky toffee pudding and custard, even though we didn't have any room. And it was all gluten free! We would recommend the pub to anyone who is looking for a great meal and the atmosphere of a village local."

"Our second visit for Sunday lunch, and the main course was just as good as the first time. Great range of vegetables, excellent roasties and Yorkshire pudding. Service was good, staff all friendly and pleasant. Only disappointment was the desserts: no berries (as on the menu) with the otherwise tasty cheesecake, and no strawberries (as on the menu) with the Eton mess in fact barely any meringue either, so the Eton mess was mostly a smallish pile of whipped cream with some strawberry sauce, felt rather inadequate for £9 a pop."
