"This restaurant is truly amazing. Five of us dined here for lunch twice over the past few days while enjoying a weekend in Ditchling. Both meals were exceptional, especially the sun roasttag. The quality was high-end, but not pretentious, and the prices were very reasonable. The Harveys beer selection was well-maintained and the staff was brilliant. The owner was hospitable, told great stories, knew his beer, and took excellent care of us. I highly recommend this restaurant."

"A Michelin Style Quality Dinner with a fresh organic countryside concept. The Small Holding promotes their produce and dishes on fresh local ingredients to create great tasting and delicious dishes. Choosing the 5 course meal which includes a wonderful selection of well balanced and developed dishes with seasonal produce , the Mushroom dish was the showstopper , with fresh and vibrant flavours it was robust. However, the homemade brown rustic House Bread was tough and flavourless, would have liked to see more flare on the butter, maybe a garlic and herb salted butter with sourdough. It is definitely somewhere worth the visit , and a great eat in Kent."

"What a wonderful find! My partner and I recently stayed at a nearby glamping site and couldn't resist visiting this gem of a restaurant multiple times. The food was exceptional, probably the best pub food I've ever had. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. As we were on our honeymoon, we couldn't stop talking about it, which led to us sharing drinks with some locals who helped us celebrate. I've never been to such a welcoming pub before, it was truly a fantastic experience. Despite walking through heavy rain on our last night, I was determined to have another burger from there. We sat by the open fire to dry off and enjoyed a few pints. It was a memorable experience that made me not want to leave. Thank you for a wonderful time, we will definitely be returning."

"very good pub lunch, the roast was very nice and the fish was very good. the venue is easy to get to, very good and plenty of parking. tables outside for the summer. Overall we liked this very much, it is close enough to Tonbridge wells for us to choose this over other village pubs and we definitely think we will return. Regarding price, I thought is was a slight bit over priced for a pub lunch, but would not stop a return visit. Menu is quite varied and you can have fresh pizza if you fancy. Children's portions and colouring pad for the kids."

"We booked after looking at the reviews and had driven past a few times and it looked lovely. When we arrived the initial pub itself is lovely, and looks cosy. When we walked in we let the bar staff know we had a table booked for dinner and the bar man said ‘sit anywhere’ we looked around and none of the tables were set for dinner or even reserved, it felt very informal. We awkwardly chose an empty table (with regular drinkers standing around everywhere and sat down. We weren’t offered any menus, nor were we told if it was table service or self service. (Either is fine, we just didn’t know! Eventually we went up to the bar and ordered drinks. Still no offer of menus… I walked over to the end of the bar and picked up some menus. We had a look and went up to order. As nice as the bartender was, he didn’t know much about the menu/specials etc and had to keep asking the kitchen. Eventually the order went through to the kitchen. Food didn’t take long, and when it arrived it wasn’t amazing, but wasn’t bad either it was all very meh. The whole experience was fine if you were coming for a casual lunch, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a nice dinner with friends. Maybe I came on a bad day as it has the potential to be really great…"
