"This restaurant pub is a hidden gem located in a charming village, with a mention in the Michelin guide for its exceptional food. We made a reservation for Sunday lunch at 1:00 pm and were pleasantly surprised to find the place not too crowded. Over the two and a half hours we spent there, the restaurant gradually filled up without becoming overly crowded. The cozy establishment has around 20 covers, with additional seating and a bar area for drinks. They offer a selection of real beer and cider, as well as some snacks like chips and bread. The wine list is standard, but the food menu is where the restaurant shines. The Sunday lunch options included beef, lamb, sea bass, and a vegetarian cottage pie, all of which were delicious. The starters, such as ham hock terrine and mushrooms on toast, were equally impressive. We all opted for the beef, which was a perfectly cooked rib eye. The roast potatoes were excellent, though some found the carrots a bit too sweet. Despite being too full for dessert, we left satisfied with our meal at this friendly pub restaurant. We also noticed a lovely beer garden that would likely be bustling on a summer weekend. We will definitely return when in the area."

"From the facade you would never guess, inside and the garden is lovely. This place is a gem. View from the garden is beautiful with nice seating. Staff was so friendly and welcoming. My dog was more than welcome and I even noticed a keg of dog water and bowls available. We didn't eat as it was a weekday and kitchen closed at 3pm just before we got there, so we had a couple beers and planned to be back to eat soon."

"We booked a double room for one night due to works in the home, the price was reasonable and included a very nice Lion Full English breakfast with toast tea coffee fresh orange juice, with a selection of jams and marmalades, staff were very accomodating and nothing was to much trouble. enjoyed an evening meal. The room we stayed in had on suite double bed TV tea and coffee making facilities, had a peacfull nights sleep waking rested. we even popped back the next day at lunchtime for something to eat, if your passing by drop in as its a hidden gem, its now my local"

"After receiving confirmation from OpenTable with the code 822102241, my wife and I arrived at the restaurant last night at 7:20. Despite our reservation, we were told we did not have a booking. After refusing to sit at a coffee table in the lounge, the manager was able to find us a table in the restaurant and offered us a complimentary drink to salvage the situation. However, our troubles did not end there. When we ordered the beef, we were not asked how we wanted it cooked and had to send it back because it was too rare. Our dessert took 30 minutes to arrive, prompting us to ask the staff if there was an issue. Finally, my wife had to ask for a glass of wine 15 minutes after initially requesting it. Despite some minor issues, we were still charged an additional 10% for the lackluster service. We have been patrons of this restaurant for over 20 years, both as a couple and in larger groups. However, after last night's experience, we are unlikely to return. In recent years, there have been new establishments in the area that offer comparable or even superior service. Last night's service at the restaurant was truly disappointing for what should have been a special occasion."
