"vegan revelation is our popular vegan caffe, ever! we love the ethos with organic vig, abundant by-products, fermented foods, cookbooks and spiritual books dotted around the place, hand-knit covers, vivid art works, and read, the amazing greener, cook and host, which is so passionate about what it has created. while the menu changes regularly, the quality is not. it was always great, with great aromen and interesting eating. would recommend booking in advance, as it is only a little space and can be occupied. next door there is a beautiful vegan zero-waste shop, earth harmony, which is fantastic."

"I've started to use this chippy over the months and now its time for a review. This chippy is fantastic. The fish and chips are first class. The chips and batter is crispy and there are a lot of food choices. Amazingly the owner provides some gluten free options including certain non fried foods which are home made dishes curry, lasagna, etc, they are different each week which, I must say, I've tried and is first class too. If you are gluten intolerant then they offer gluten free batter for your fish noting that its still fried in the same oil as the non gluten fish batter at the moment (that suits me though, no issues at all). "Wow...what amazing food. Best curry we have had in a long time. We always go by reviews online and placed our order to be delivered at 6pm. Lovely lady made the on time delivery. Food arrived in a carboard carry box and was piping hot. Very generous portions full off meat. The flavours and spices of each dish was a delight with every mouthfull. Poppadoms bahjis samosas were crisp and dry and again full of flavour. We noticed people had commented about the Gurka chips, you should try these, what a treat ! Would give 10 stars if we could. We will be ordering again 100% on our next regular trip from devon to derbyshire"

"We had made a booking post Christmas when we previously visited the Black Boy when we worked for Oxford Brookes in Headington and were always satisfied with the experience, Now we are restarted, we nrmaly meeting monthly and usually with little announcement and have frquently disappointed that it was fully booked. However, I had a dental appointment so had a good news and managed to get a lunch booking. Unfortunately, the tooth date was over and was more painful than expected, so I could only get the excellent soup and wine (not all bad! but my friend had a main course with which he was very satisfied, and a lush dessert. The service was fast, attentive and sympathetic! This visit confirmed our previous opinion that the Black Boy is a very plentiful and relaxing place to eat, the food and wine are alway very good and it has an excellent ambience; highly recommended"

"the hanging gate is located in a pretty location, right on the road from the center of belper. in the inner it has the look and feel of a typical country pub. some (but not all) of the es pane have an access to people with mobility difficulties. dogs are allowed in the sitting area in the free, and also a section in the interior area. we had to ask for the separate vegan menu that offers a lot of choices for appetizers and main dishes, including falafel, suppe, salat, curry, tart and burger dishes. it is part of the vintage Inns chain, so eating in each of their pubs is identical. we thought the taste and quality were quite decent, but nothing special. the focus is on the traditional meat-based pub, and so the crumbs of the boom, etc. on tellers around us were quite unstoppable at a Sunday meal. because land pubs for their vegan offers are generally not known, it is good to have a reasonable vegan dinner option at a place like this."
