This young team has created a fantastic venue, and they genuinely work hard to connect with their customers. They strike a great balance between catering to locals and travelers. The food exceeds my expectations for this type of place, and while the accommodations could use some improvement, the local charm and concept truly elevate the experience for me. We visited as two couples with 2 dogs. Good location in Otterton with ample car parking. Relaxing, spacious space inside and service was very friendly and swift. We also had a lovely walk from here along the river to Budleigh Salterton. Burgers and the whitebait were delicious and good size portions.

We stayed for a few nights from October 21st and had a lovely time. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and they were excellent with our dog, who is a bit anxious. He was welcome everywhere with us. The food was fantastic. We will definitely come back, as the surroundings are beautiful with great walking trails.

This is a spacious and welcoming pub/hotel with restaurant services. The drinks were great, and the meals were delicious and served quickly. The restaurant is in the process of updating the tables, which is nice to see. The next improvement should be the hanging baskets—should they be refreshed or replaced? Came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Some of the reviews are very critical, that said each individual has their right to an opinion. On this occasion the service was quick and the food was delicious. If, as some have described, this isn't a good place to eat, then I can say that was not the case on this occasion. We only stopped in for a drink after a long walk, and although there wasn't anywhere to sit, the bartender quickly found us a table and chairs without us having to ask. The atmosphere was so accommodating and welcoming that we wish we had made a reservation. We definitely want to remember this place for our next visit; the vibe was great, and the food looked amazing! Service: 5 stars.
