Had a delicious lunch. Good range of GF options too. The kids loved their meals and I had the best rice pudding I have ever tasted. Worth a visit for sure!

A friend and I popped in for lunch recently.Great choice on menu and some delicious dishes on specials board .This pub has a great atmosphere, staff always greet you with a warm welcome.Food is very well cooked and presented, one of my favourite places to eat.

Stayed here one night bed and breakfast and ate in the bar for dinner.Bed and Breakfast at £69 was very good value room was quite acceptable and breakfast cooked fresh to order was excellent.Evening meal was similarly good value and tasty. Not sure how the barmaid kept the bar going and served all the food on her own but she did without any apparent problem.

We went to celebrate my father-in-law's 98th birthday at this restaurant. The staff were very accommodating to his needs. They had a great selection of food on the menu as well as some delicious specials. We brought a birthday cake for him and the staff were happy to provide plates and cutlery, even though it meant we didn't order desserts. We will definitely return for his 99th birthday!

We’ve visited this old Worldly pub a few times and haven’t been disappointed always a friendly greeting and with great choice of meals and a good choice of beers and wines by glass or bottle booking in advance is a must as can get very busy especially at weekends it’s very easy to get to from the M6 south or northbound just come of at Jc 42and follow the signs for Cumwhinton which is only 3/4 of a mile from motorway we will certainly be paying another visit spot on

In early September, I am giving this restaurant 5 stars because the food is excellent and the establishment is beautiful. We always make sure to visit when we are in Carlisle for the weekend. The chef's specials board offers a variety of delicious homemade dishes. The staff are very friendly, although I must add that the manager is not very pleasant. During our most recent visit, the food was once again delicious, but we were disappointed to find that COVID precautions were not being followed. The manager was seating people too close together and there was no hand sanitizer in the restrooms, only at the entrance of the pub. We will definitely be returning, but only when it is safe to do so.

The service at the restaurant started off quick and good, but while we were eating, no staff member came over to check if everything was okay. The steaks were not the best; they were very dry and served with frozen chips and vegetables. One of our party of six couldn't eat their steak because it tasted off. When the plates were collected, there was no mention of the steak being left uneaten. As we went to pay, things could have been handled differently. The manager came outside and insisted that the steak wasn't off because he tasted it. He didn't want to listen to our complaints and was rude. Two of us were starting an ultra-marathon from Carlisle Castle at 07.15 on a Saturday in June. We were late in organising ourselves and accom was tight in the area. We eventually found vacancies at the Lowther Arms, just over 3-miles from our start point. We booked 2 x rooms and travelled up on the Friday. We were slightly on edge due to there being a virtually non-existent /antiquated website and through a couple of brusque 'phone conversations with the landlord. I have been to the lowther arms many times and the food has always been good, a nice cozy little pub with plenty of choice. We were out celebrating my grandmas birthday and my aunty had just been given the all clear from cancer..We opened the door and instead of being greeted with a friendly hello, the woman snapped have you got your masks!! We didn't have masks as we were under the impression you didnt need them when dining out ..?
