"After a feast of meat at Xmas what better way to kick start the New Year than with a Baked Dover Sole at The Gate with green beans and dauphinoise potatoes with a small pot of Tartare Sauce. The fish was cooked to perfection , so succulent and fell of the bone easily enabling you to easily digest the white fish. The Bread Board contained warm bread that smelled and tasted as if a Bakery was operating next to the Kitchen as it was that fresh. A delicious light dish accompanied by a large glass of crisp Chardonnay a perfect match for a very enjoyable evening. If you want cheering up after the tales of woe emanating from 24/7 news of doom and gloom re pandemic , our politicians behaving like children and Mr Putin threatening World Peace in view of the possibility of Russia invading Ukraine then go to The Gate where you will receive quality cooking at very reasonable prices. Recommended."

"We both wanted something tasty, my friend from America is an experienced eater. We arrived lunchtime and it was quiet. As I have oxygen it is difficult for me to go to the buffet, no problem, the manager went off and got me a selection of starters, very nice. Paul went to the buffet and got his. The waiter then asked me what type of curry I fancied, within ten minutes he brought me a very tasty fresh meal the chef cooked specially for me. We had an indian beer each, very nice indeed and reasonable. 10/10"

"First time visit here. And my wife and I both had a wonderful evening. We had booked the previous week, but it wasn't necessary on this Saturday evening as there were one or two empty tables scattered around. Before we ordered food we had a few drinks. A nice selection of beers, wines and spirits were available. The menu is comprehensive with plenty to choose from. Prices are reasonable. When we eventually ordered, we didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive. It was very nicely presented, hot, tasty and the portion sizes were large. Other pubs take note! The staff were superb. Very friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. The pub itself is nice. The large open fire would be wonderful on colder evenings! A huge garden and decking area looks out over the countryside. Very impressive. There is also a large carpark. Two minor points, first impressions are spoilt very slightly by letters missing off the pub name. It makes the pub look slightly uncared for and rough around the edges, which, once you enter the building you realise is far from the truth! And also the gents toilets could do with a bit of TLC. There was a huge hole in the wall that looks like somebody had been at it with a sledgehammer! Minor stuff I know, and it certainly doesn't detract from what was a lovely evening out. Visit Castell Y Bwch. You'll not be disappointed!"

"Delicious, perfectly cooked pastry and chips! They tend to be light on salt, so be sure to ask for extra if you enjoy more seasoning, especially with vinegar. My partner had the fish and chips, which were also fantastic, though again, not overly salty. Aside from that, it’s a popular place with ample parking, whether you choose to dine in or take away. A great bonus is its close proximity to the city, making it an ideal spot for lunch during a shopping trip!"

I never leave reviews, but I feel obliged to go after tasting. well, that was the best breakfast I have ever had! would have tasted the sausages from this world! amazing service, fast delivery and the supplier was so happy and friendly! the customer for life here!"
