"Posting on behalf of PeterfromSandhurst, who was limited to only review per month. As I was of the people on this visit, I agree with everything that has been said and whole heartedly recommend the Lord Raglan for family visits. On to...the actual review. visit, this time with six people comprising three generations aged (that day) to almost We agreed that we would just keep ordering one or two plates every minute or so and share them so we could all eat the entire menu, a bit at a time. Over hours and plates of food later the results were in, we had eaten the menu! The clear favourite by show of hands (from the little ones and the ladies) was the sticky toffee pudding (no surprises there). Choosing favourites after that was very hard indeed as they were all good. The haddock was excellent with a close dense batter that was both light but substantial (don’t ask me how) and closely hugged the good sized piece of fish. It held heat well, tasted good (both batter and fish) and remained crisp until the last bite despite not rushing to eat it. The chicken (breast pieces in the sharing platter and the smoky spicy thighs dish) were also great. Moist, very tasty but the thighs a tad spicy/smoky for the children (the smoky hit is pretty instant for a kid) but the adults all loved them, the crunchy crusted breast fillets were loved by all. The ribs were moist, delicious, plentiful and fell apart simply by looking at them. The meat board (usually a shared starter) scored highly again with the juicy pork leek sausages beautifully finished with scorched crispy skin just like the very best BBQs can manage but still wonderfully moist inside. Pulled brisket very juicy, still not sure what they use instead of butter but it works perfectly. The Korean chicken burger with kimchi was a hit with my wife (she hadn’t had kimchi before) leaving a nice afterglow without any blast of heat. She just read this and said “The sausages were delicious, I really liked those, next time I go, I am going to have sausage and mash”. Well that’s her bit done. Oh, and by the way, it was steak day (every Thursday it seems), and the steaks come as a package with chips, a sauce choice and a drink (soft or wine etc) at discounted prices, so we had a few of those too. Ordered medium rib eyes, held our breath, and low and behold medium rib eyes arrived (well done chef! And eat your heart out Miller and Carter). So if you are sick to death of places that can’t cook a steak properly, try here. I hadn’t eaten Mac and cheese for years but tried that too and found the cheese was great, had a real intense depth of flavour and lovely grilled crusty edges (that you pick out of your teeth for the next minutes mmmm). If you have the time to spend a few hours mid week with people you love in a quirky but relaxed atmosphere you could do worse than try this tasting menu approach to culinary socialising. The Staff could not have been more accommodating, despite the unconventional nature of our visit. Thank you Beth and Leah, you did an excellent job. I made a couple of remarks on my first visit about how I might improve things if I was permitted to stick my oar in and again. Bang, they had been implemented just two days later. Amazing stuff Lily (boss), you are a star. Any kitchen that consistently turns out dish after dish like this one does, has something going right. See you again soon."

Been a few times and I love this pub! The menu is great, had the Halloumi Burger most recently and would get again Great selection of beers! The staff is always nice and they are a dog friendly pub! If the weather is nice highly recommend sitting in the garden room on your visit.

Get cosy by the open fire, relax in the modern conservatory or chill outside in the courtyard with wooden covered seating areas each with it's own heater. The staff here a super friendly, always with a smile on their face which always cheers me up...when I walk in. Keep up with the great work everyone!

Enjoyed a great lunch here. The food was superb. I had a perfectly cooked steak and hubby the ribs. The ribs were massive, a huge portion and utterly delicious. My steak came with the most unctuous supremely flavoursome mushroom sauce I have ever tasted. The...waitresses were attentive and friendly. The venue is a lovely pub with a great conservatory atea. This place is perfect.

It’s good! I wouldn’t have rated it for food beforehand, but everything we got was better than average, which I think is fairly decent review for some pubs these days. The roast beef for way overdone, but I did warn of the people we were eating with not to order beef for a roast late into the afternoon on a Sunday. Kids menu and food was on just fine and they even had colouring books etc. Speisekarte ansehen

Yesterday night, I had a wonderful meal at Raglan with a group of friends for their Steak Night Special. It was great value for money and the food was absolutely delicious, exceeding all of our expectations! Additionally, the service was excellent and the selection of beer and wine was perfect for our group. It was our first time at Raglan and we were all wondering why it took us so long to discover this place! We can't wait to go back.

My partner and I visited this restaurant last night and we were extremely impressed. The restaurant has a beautiful retractable outer surface and is much more spacious than it appears from the outside. The staff were all lovely, efficient, and went out of their way to chat with us while still providing excellent service. We indulged in the appetizers and ordered all three of their recommended starters, followed by their meat board and dirty fries. The appetizers were outstanding, especially the one with a generous amount of cheese and toppings, perfectly grilled to perfection. The meat board and dirty fries were equally delicious and plentiful, with the ribs being incredibly tender and falli... Speisekarte ansehen

We entered The Lord Raglan not knowing what we wanted to drink, and the girl behind the bar asked us what we normally drank and then gave us little samples of two pale ales, we then chose one which was lovely and fruity, and she...informed us it was from a local brewery. We were given the choice of a table or booth seat, and were promptly asked for our order. I had the Big Smoke burger which was literally the best meal I have ever eaten! It was topped with pulled brisket, which was so tender and flavourful, and just the right amount of melted smoked cheddar. The fried were crispy without being greasy and perfectly seasoned. I chose to have the homemade Chipotle slaw as an extra, which led me...

First visit on a miserable wet blowy day. We arrived mins before they had officially opened and the heating had not kicked in so we started with a coffee (just to warm up Met Lily (boss), engaging, bright, informative and despite being busy made...time to answer our many questions. Server (Beth) exceptionally helpful so we let her order for us (shared meat platter starter with truffle oil chips (extra i think). Food tray looked great (buttermilk chicken breast bites' x best part of a rack of short pork ribs, pork sausages (with leek pulled brisket and pieces of house special corn on the cob ribs For those who savour food rather than just eating it, the chicken breast was rather dry but the c...

"After many years, on recommendation of others, went to this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Whilst the food was excellent, the service was atrocious and totally ruined what should have a lovely night out on a very special occasion. Booked for and seated...promptly. Orders for aperitifs taken and drinks brought promptly. Order for wine taken, bottle brought and opened. Then it all went downhill. Waited for over minutes for our meal order to be taken and that only happened because I signalled to the girl behind the bar that I was getting unhappy. First course then took about minutes to arrive. However our main course took until to arrive. I have never ever waited minutes for a main course to arrive. It would not have been so bad if the staff had shown any interest or we had been able to grab hold of one to ask what was going on, they just seemed to totally ignore us! As mentioned earlier, the food, when it did arrive, was very good, it would have been even better if the side order of vegetables my wife had ordered had also arrived. We did ask what had happened to them but when we were told they had been overlooked, decided to just make do and share mine. To add insult to injury, while we were waiting we noticed that other couples were eating dishes that were not on the menu we had been given. I later found out that we were supposed to have been given a specials menu but this had also been overlooked. At the end, the manager was very apologetic and gave a cursory discount however this was not the point. It was a special occasion at a not inexpensive restaurant I would have preferred to pay the full price and not had a ruined evening. Needless to say, we will not be returning."

"After reviewing the menu, we decided to go for a 'running buffet' and shared a variety of dishes, reordering every ten minutes or so. I asked everyone to rate each dish on a scale of 1 to 5, and every main dish received a perfect score of 5, except for the Szechuan Prawns, which got a 5.5, and the sizzling spicy chicken, which scored a 6! The rice and noodles were all delicious—fluffy, tasty, and well-seasoned—but we gave them all a rating of 4 simply because the mains were exceptional. The standout dishes were the Char Siew (honey pork), which we ended up ordering three times, and the sizzling hot spicy chicken, which we ordered twice. It had a delightful kick of heat, was tender and moist, and had a wonderful sauce—even though I tried to manage the scores, they rated it a 6! The Szechuan prawns were plump, firm, and cooked to perfection, and they scored a very hard-fought 5.5, with just the right amount of heat. One of the boys was a bit picky, but we requested a serving of Singaporean noodles without vegetables for him without any hassle. This isn’t just average food; it’s really good, and it comes out quickly, looks appealing, and tastes fantastic—reflecting its price. We also tried the 'wine by the glass' options. The white Chilean Sauvignon Blanc paired well with the food, while I enjoyed an Australian Shiraz that complemented the beef, pork, and spicy dishes nicely. The Italian 'Blush' rosé was also a hit. We're already planning to return on Monday with another group of six to explore more of the menu, and I’m genuinely looking forward to it. If you truly appreciate good food, I highly recommend trying Chef Peking!"
