The Railway - Speisekarte

This charming British pub located in the heart of Buxton offers a fantastic selection of beers, delicious food, and a friendly staff. Ellie, in particular, made us feel right at home and treated us like family. Highly recommend a visit!

In Buxton to watch Southport FC play, we went into The Railway for a couple of beers and lunch. We were well received and enjoyed excellent service, beer was good and food was very good. Credit to Nathan and his team, great job well done lads, thanks.

What can I say service was fantastic, the food was fantastic and the company was fantastic too. If you’re looking to book a Christmas get together then this is the place to go. The pub was lovely, but the food was a disgrace. We ordered fish and chips and it was overcooked. It's safe to say that the manager didn't seem to care. We weren't looking for a refund or anything for free, but just some basic interest would have been better than nothing. We will not be returning to this establishment.

The Railway gave Buxton Ambulance Station, free Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day! They were absolutely delicious. The staff were so welcoming in our uniform even though they were so busy with the bookings they had to deal with themselves. It was a very kind gesture to do for emergency workers on Christmas Day. We really appreciate it, it gave us a real boost for the afternoon. Thank you sooo much!

As I had done many time in the past I had the cod and chips option for lunch. I was disappointed to discover it now comes with deep fat fryer scraps scattered over the meal. They are supposedly salt and vinegar flavour but this was hard to detect. The abundance of fat was easy to detect however. Sadly the scraps were scattered over the fish but also through the peas. This necessitated some serious sorting out to avoid having to eat them. PLEASE LOSE THE SCRAPS, THEY ARE MOST UNPLEASANT! October 2023 Oh dear! My wife and I had a Sunday carvery 2 weeks ago and I did heap praise on the food and service! But today 29th October it it was awful, the before was ridiculously tough, the cabbage was undercooked and gravy was like brown water! We did complain and the manager did replace the beef with looked like brown tissue paper and tasteless and he did apologise, we had 3 different members of staff asking us was everything alright NO was the reply and all we received was sorry There was no offer of a replacement meal! So after this negative visit we will not be returning! What a waste of £28. Hero to Zero!

My partner and I stumbled upon this restaurant in Buxton on a rainy bank holiday Monday. The menu offers a wide variety of choices including pub classics, steaks, salads, and burgers. The prices are reasonable, neither cheap nor expensive. We decided to try the halloumi popcorn and the beer battered black pudding and bacon fritter as starters. Unfortunately, my partner noticed that the bartender seemed more focused on her conversation than on providing good customer service. We have visited before a few years ago. Went back because we had a good experience. At first things were going ok, but 45 mins after ordering we had not been served, where other who had come in after were getting their food so went and asked what was happening, They had failed to deliver our food it had been cooked but now my gammon was cold, so they microwaved it and served it, mushrooms shrivelled up, gammon was now a biscuit. I called them over so they quickly apologised and cooked another gammon, by which time my wife had finished her food.
