Great hotel. Lovely food, service and accommodation. Enjoyed the bar, breakfast and the food at dinner. Great location.

Came in here five days ago on our holidays. What a fantastic warm welcome. Pub is such a friendly atmosphere and food that die for. Highly recommend

in the main street alnmouth this is a great place to stay very good pub with good standards of food and good crying. the rooms are very high standard

I was sitting here on Monday. beautiful meal. highly recommended, they will not be disappointed. the service was great, friendly staff and great environment.

Know the patrons from old so dropped in on the off chance. Parking was fine however it was a Wednesday night so potentially this was timing. The area looks beautiful with winding streets and picturesque houses. The pigeon breast starter was sublime with all flavours complimenting each other followed by the venison burger it worked well

We liked the Red Lion so much we have just booked a return stay next year. We were happy that dogs are only allowed in the bar area, not the dining area or bedrooms, all very clean. Breakfasts very good and flexible so if you...just want egg on toast that's fine, all pre ordered the night before which is a good system. Full evening menu at this time of year, Friday night was pizza night excellent.

I chose to dine at this restaurant because all the other restaurants in the village were full (due to the bank holiday). I ordered 3 pizzas - 2 margherita and one goat cheese. Unfortunately, all 3 pizzas were burnt to a point that I found unacceptable. Additionally, considering the price, the portion sizes were fairly small. We had to send the pizzas back due to concerns about carcinogens if we were to eat them. The pizzas were served in takeaway boxes, even though we were dining in the pub and there was no option for a plate. Overall, I would not return to this restaurant.

We have visited the Red Lion several times for drinks meals. This time we stayed for a 4 day break. Whilst the weather was not so good our stay was comfy, warm welcoming. Our room was excellent No 7), comfy bed very swish shower/bathroom. The breakfasts are very good. Although would have liked more choice of cereal eg granola muesli. The pub itself is very welcoming with open fires we’ve met some very friendly people to chat with. Although the pub didn’t do meals on 2 nights of our stay there are very good restaurants/pubs next door! Especially Bistro 23. Alnmouth is the perfect place to stroll around the beach little harbour is beautiful so interesting.

The last time we stayed at the Red Lion was before the pandemic and it was in different hands – the parents of one half of the current husband-and-wife owners. In the interim, the pub had to stop serving food at night and make all...of tis staff redundant. Now, though, it seems to have re-emerged stronger than ever under Ben and Georgie. They serve food (I think) on Mon/Tues/Thurs/Sat, and there are other places to eat in Alnmouth on the in-between days. The evening meals were largely as before (it seems they'd managed to recapture the old chef) with one glorious addition to the menu: sea-bass with red pepper risotto. It's good anyway, but there are little touches that make a subtle differen...
