"Booked for a Saturday evening family meal. Initially the wasn't particularly warm. The starters the prawns in the prawn cocktail were watery and tasteless and the bread was dry, the white bait was overfried. The mains surprised to be told that there was only two 8oz T bone steaks left, and they tasted like they were the last two! There was an odd taste to the meat and definitely not worth £24 each. Portion of chips was more than ample. Desserts in our opinion were a bit pricey, £7 for quite a small portion of Eaton Mess. Same price for the cheesecake, but that was very nice. The dining room was cold and the lighting level kept fluctuating from bright to too dark to read the menu! Very irritating! Won't be in a rush to return!"

A beautiful old pub with attentive and lovely staff. The best egg, ham, and chips I've ever had. The apple and cinnamon pie was amazing.

The food at this restaurant was excellent, and the staff, especially Chloe, were fantastic in taking care of us. Enjoying after dinner drinks by the fire was a wonderful experience. Thank you once again, and Merry Christmas! We look forward to returning in the new year.

Waitress/manager very helpful and professional, but ordered food, and had to wait an hour before it came out!! Ordered lasagne, that came out burnt, The other half ordered the potato skins, the skins were so hard she couldn’t cut into them easily, very over done! Pub restaurant was very cold

The bar staff were excellent and the food was delicious. However, the bar itself was extremely cold. The staff mentioned they would seat us near the radiator to keep us warm, but unfortunately, the heating was not even turned on. Because of the lack of heating, I will not be returning. I don't want to spend £35 per person to sit in a freezing cold pub. Speisekarte ansehen

Used to love this place but recently has gone down hill. Last few visits we have been freezing! Landlord refused to turn the heating on and other customers were sitting eating meals in they're coats! Portion sizes are a lot lot smaller than we remember It's such as shame because this is a lovely pub. We enjoy real ale but sadly the selection is very poor. Let's hope things get turned around and we can once again enjoy this lovely pub.

I came here for the curry night… and they did not disappoint. The beef in the Rogan Josh was so tender and flavoursome! Me and my partner also shared the sides sharing platter which consisted of homemade onion Bahjis, poppadoms and garlic naan… Homemade Bahjis with the homemade mint dip were unbelievable and would highly recommend! The Oak always has a warm and welcoming atmosphere whenever I dine, would highly recommend to anyone who wants lovely food and a great service!

We ate in the restaurant this weekend for a family gathering. Despite us being a table of 10 and another table of 25 filling the rest of the restaurant space within half an hour we found that everything ran smoothly, staff were efficient and friendly and everyone’s food arrived promptly and as ordered. Portion sizes were more than enough, and everyone found their dishes tasty. Some ordered from the Christmas menu which we thought was great value at 3 courses for £32.95 and the beautiful Christmas decorations gave a lovely atmosphere! We’ll be back soon! A warm welcome, but actual temperature was cooler despite the lovely log fire. Menu was substantially reduced due to several dishes being off! But we both enjoyed our shared starter of ribs and whitebait, and were very grateful for the generous extra napkins supplied! Our mains of pie of the day (turkey and cranberry) served hot and very tasty, and codfather, which was found to be a tad disappointing, would have been better without the bread. Nonetheless we both enjoyed the meal. Thought black coffee a bit steep at £3.50, but otherwise all good with friendly staff. Thank you.

We hadn't visited before but my wife and I are trying out local pub-restaurants. Both of us started with the Duck Liver Parfait which was really tasty and very nice. My wife then had the Crispy Belly Of Pork which she said was delicious and perfectly cooked. I had the special pie of the day, turkey and mushroom, which I enjoyed. My wife finished with Homemade Sticky Toffee Pudding, and I had the Cheesecake of the day, chocolate praline. Both of us thought these were very good, as apparently was my wife's Irish Coffee. The service by Frances was excellent and very attentive. We will definitely be going back to The Royal Oak soon.

"I recently had the pleasure of dining at SoPa Thai, and it was truly a delightful experience! The moment I walked in, the atmosphere transported me to a world of Thai sophistication and allure. The culinary exploration began with Tom Kha, a delightful combination of coconut milk, galangal, and lemongrass. Each spoonful was a delicious harmony of creamy and zesty flavors that perfectly complemented the tender chicken pieces. It wasn't just soup; it felt like a warm embrace in a bowl. Next, the beautifully presented Green Curry arrived. The curry was a work of art, filled with the richness of green chilies and fragrant basil leaves. The vegetables were fresh, and the chicken was incredibly tender, all bathed in a sauce that was the perfect blend of spicy and sweet. Then came the highlight of the evening, Pad Thai. The noodles were coated in a flavorful tamarind sauce, mixed with eggs, tofu, and a generous sprinkling of crushed peanuts. The dish was a delightful mix of textures and flavors that left my taste buds amazed. The grand finale was the Mango and Sticky Rice. The mango was ripe and sweet, a wonderful complement to the warm yet slightly salty sticky rice. Drizzled with coconut milk, this dessert was not just a treat but a festival of flavors. In summary, SoPa Thai is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary paradise. Each dish showcased the chef's expertise in balancing flavors and textures. If you're in search of an authentic Thai dining experience, SoPa Thai is the place to go. Their Tom Kha, Green Curry, Pad Thai, and Mango Sticky Rice take you on a journey through the heart of Thailand. I highly recommend it!"
