The Screes Inn - Speisekarte

The food is much more interesting than what is served at many pubs and the atmosphere is really friendly. We went at a busy time but were in now rush so we relaxed and enjoyed the whole evening.

The Scree inn does not stick to its opening times. Out of the four days we were there it was open once. The Strands Inn, which is owned by the same people, was too busy the woman sent us away. She was really rude!

Good food and great little pub, accommodation needs updating and more cleaning, standard approach to breakfast, need options especially with fruit juice as we had a diabetic and someone else who didn’t like orange juice there was no alternative Speisekarte ansehen

Pretty reasonable food at a fairly reasonable price. Nothing over exciting but it’s a warm inviting atmosphere and the service is pretty good considering how busy it is. Great selection of beers and we enjoyed the food! Could do with one or two fewer tables in the bar area to be honest!

First visit. Very welcoming staff. Bar and dining area had a good mix of locals and weekend visitors. Extensive menu. Food was very good and service good too. Only downside for me was although food orders were taken at the table, drinks had to be ordered at the bar which felt a bit disjointed. Would happily visit again

I stayed at this pub for two nights with a friend while hiking up Scafell Pike. The pub had a cozy atmosphere, delicious beer, a wide variety of whisky options, and the food was outstanding. Unfortunately, I was too tired from hiking to fully enjoy the whisky selection, but I hope to come back with my wife in the future. I would definitely stay here again. Speisekarte ansehen

We decided to try out this pub after looking for vegetarian options and were not disappointed. Both vegetarians and meat eaters in our group enjoyed the excellent food. The only downside was that a few menu items were unavailable due to a late delivery, but the brisket burger was a tasty alternative to the steak and ale pie. The service was efficient and friendly, and well behaved dogs (and even somewhat behaved ones like ours) are welcome. I had one pint of the Eeerrmm (apologies if I spelled that wrong) and it was great. The pub is a bit off the beaten track and can be tricky to find at night, but it is definitely worth the trip.

We came across this pub in Eskdale after a long drive back from Wast Water and were pleasantly surprised. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, creating a strong sense of community. We were impressed by the variety of vegetarian and vegan options available on the menu. Both my partner and I opted for the vegetarian roast, priced at £17. It was hands down the best vegetarian roast I have ever tasted, with a generous portion that barely fit on the plate. We chose to stay at The Strands Inn when looking for a base for a couple of nights to fell walk in Wasdale. We booked two twin rooms between four of us and its was at an excellent price. The rooms were both clean and welcoming and perfect for what we wanted. The Screes Inn opposite is own by the same people so we had accommodation and breakfast in the Strands and food and drink in the Screes Inn. The service was outstanding, one of our party commented that the owners, Mark and Lesley couldn't do enough for us. All the cask ales were outstanding and brewed on the premises by the landlord.
