The Ship Inn - Speisekarte

I visited this weekend with friend for dinner and some conversation but found to the to be rather loud and meant we struggled to speak shouting across the table.

Myself and my partner went to the ship the other night to have a couple of drinks, Claire behind the bar was brilliant. Very friendly, welcoming and knowledgable. Many thanks Claire for your fantastic service.

What a superb meal we had here. I had a Hunters Chicken and my Wife had the Sea Bass,followed by 2 Eton Mess,or is it messes.The staff were friendly, well mannered and well turned out. The building itself is welcoming. We enjoyed our visit there immensly and will definately recommend to everyone and we will be back,for sure.

We stopped by this restaurant for a late drink on our way back to the hotel. The bartender was friendly and talkative. We enjoyed a great bottle of wine at the lowest price we had paid all weekend. The food at this restaurant is fantastic and the service is amazing! The menu is a bit small, but it has all the essentials along with some unique specials. We tried the chicken liver pate to start and the cod and chips for our main course. These dishes were far from ordinary, with perfectly cooked fish served promptly and hot. However, the highlight of our dining experience at The Ship Inn was the excellent service provided by our young waiter Harry. He was fast, efficient, and friendly. Great job, young man!

We needed a private function room for a wake so we spoke to the staff at The Ship. They were very helpful and sensitive to our needs. We had a few ideas of what we needed and Taylor (the manager) guided us with a few more suggestions. On the day the room was set up as requested and the food (buffet selection) arrived and was great, plenty there and lots of coffee, tea etc. The staff were very helpful if we needed, well done to all concerned especially Taylor, the kitchen staff and the people who helped set up and clear. We would defiantly recommend.

Celebrating my husband's birthday we went straight for mains, my sirloin steak was cooked medium rare to perfection with lovely chunky chips, crispy onion rings and a zesty rocket cucumber salad. My husband was full of praise for his mixed grill, a great selection of meat (steak cooked just to his liking) and not too big. Dessert for me was Bramley apple pie however it wasn't what I was expecting. A lovely thin, light almost floppy pastry case filled with apples and slightly crispy on top. Not wanting the coconut vanilla ice cream that came with it, I swapped for plain vanilla. It was delicious. Lovely, friendly, attentive staff but not over the top with a good selection of drinks.
