"The food and drinks were enjoyable, but unfortunately, the staff was rude and standoffish. Despite initially only ordering drinks, we decided to also order food. The restaurant was busy, and we had difficulty getting the attention of a staff member from our table. When my friend approached a waitress to ask if we could order food, we were met with an unpleasant attitude. We were told that orders were taken based on who arrived first. We eventually managed to place our order after being ignored and receiving curt responses. However, the lack of hospitality continued when it came time to pay, leaving us feeling like a burden. Despite having frequented the restaurant several times and initially choosing it as our favorite in the area, we will not be returning due to the poor service we experienced. The food was good, but the service from some of the staff was disappointing."

"Excellent food but a curious staff attitude. Reserved a table on “Open Table” and arrived to a cold lifeless reception. The restaurant was not full but we were shown to an awkward table between the main traffic flow and a table of six guys in dirty work attire, thanks but no thanks we will have that nice romantic big table over there… much better! Do staff not think what does the customer want? Who wants to sit there? Good food well presented and tasty. Decent wine list. All hand sanitisers were empty and dirty. The toilets need a damn good cleaning. The whole place needs a revamp, poor lighting, no background music and it feels like a school dining room with pictures. We would return but only if no where else was available, previous reviews are much too generous in their comments and lack any critical review. We rated it 5/10, could do much better and be much happier."

"I love this restaurant, haven't been for a while, came for tea Love the new decor The meal itself was a bit of a let down , my favourites have gone off the menu. We ordered a starter to share it was fantastic 10/10 I ordered a chicken and mushroom dish as a main it was served luke warm so I asked if they could heat it up for me which the server did, I like mushrooms but I didn't like getting a mouthful of grit with every mouthful, was very disappointed) as we have eaten here many times and never had a disappointing meal before Next time I visit Bishop Stortford I will return but just not order that dish Staff were great as always"

"Came here with my Wife and my two collies. Fantastic place to go and eat and drink, especially if you have dogs. My two collies were off lead wandering around the pub. "On the positive side the welcome and service was friendly and the food we did have was nice. We went on a steak themed night for my daughters birthday. I asked for a glass of merlot and they had none. They had run out of all burgers so my daughter couldn't have what she wanted. We assumed we would be safe with steak on a steak night but they had run out of rump steak. So had no choice but to order the more expensive cut. This was 7.30 on a steak night evening. Really disappointed"
