The Tramp - Speisekarte

We were pleased we had reserved a table as it was very busy. The food was good and well presented. The staff were friendly and attentive.

The food is very good and well done, surprising quality given expectations from simple menu. Ordering system is a bit chaotic but all else good. Whole experience of the museum and restaurant was great.

Pleasant outdoor setting (it was a very nice early autumn day); hard working, very helpful and efficient staff. Wide selection on menu; food seems to be prepared on order. Good !Popular with visitors to Chaplin's World, and would strongly recommend reserving a table before going to the museum.

The main floor "cafe" portion of the Tramp is small and hence can become crowded - but there is outdoor seating as well if the weather cooperates. A good range of simple, "lunch" foods at reasonable prices and good quality. The staff were friendly and helpful in site of it being a very busy day.

I stopped there for lunch with my grandsons (3- and 5-year old) who shared a kid's menu which included a sirop and a dessert. They loved it even though grandpa changed their menu from French Fries to pasta (a change done without a problem). I had a great Wok dish! The waiters were extremely professional and helpful. It might be worth booking ahead (or when starting the visit) as the restaurant was very busy. Bon appétiti - enjoy!

Wir kamen zum Mittagessen, bevor wir Chaplin's World besuchten, das in der Nähe des Restaurants liegt. Das Essen war gut, aber fast kalt. Dies liegt bestimmt am langsamen Service (offensichtlich unterbesetzt). Außerdem mussten wir das Osterspecial nehmen, da das reguläre Menü an diesem Tag nicht verfügbar war. Dies war auf der Website des Restaurants nicht angekündigt. Bei einem Preis von 45.- oder 50.- CHF für ein Zwei- oder Drei-Gänge-Menü wären wir vielleicht woanders hingegangen, wenn wir dies gewusst hätten.

Nachdem wir ein paar Stunden im Museum verbracht hatten, wussten wir, dass wir hungrig sein würden, also machten wir am Tag zuvor Reservierungen. Wahrscheinlich eine gute Idee, da gegen Ende unseres Essens der Raum ziemlich voll mit anderen Museumsbesuchern war. Der Service war freundlich und effizient. Das Essen war ziemlich gut - der Hühnerspieß war groß und gut gekocht. Der Burger war perfekt zubereitet. Es gibt auch einen Selbstbedienungsbereich im Erdgeschoss, falls Sie lieber an der Theke bestellen und sich selbst bedienen möchten.

Maybe it was designed with Chaplin's life in mind, essentially a three dish menu is perhaps not worthy of a restaurant. More fitting for a cafeteria. To mark Chaplin's humble London origins; fish and chips. Nice thick pieces of fish, with broad golden chips served with a tartar sauce. Simple. Tasty. A good sized portion. In memory of his American life: a hamburger. The meat was tasty, but the bun.... Europeans in general need to understand that baguette like bread will never make a decent burger bun. Then for the last 25 years of his life in Switzerland: a mac-n-cheese "savoyard". Consists of penne, ham/bacon (lardons) and probably a mix of gruyere and vacherin cheese. The first few bites we...
