"On a day trip to Chester, we decided on a pub lunch and found The Victoria Pub just next to the High Cross. The pub layout was traditional, with low ceilings, thick wooden beams, and uneven floors. It had a unique atmosphere. There was no welcome, as such. I asked where we could sit, and I was told, pleasantly enough, by a rushed member of staff. Despite this, the staff, overall, were kind and helpful. I ordered a traditional lunch of cod, chips, and mushy peas, with a side of “crusty” bread, while my wife had steak and ale pie and chips, with a side of onion rings. After a short wait, the orders arrived. The chips were a good size, a reasonable amount, and tasted good. The mushy peas were sweet and tasty (I hope they were homemade). The fish was nice; however, the batter was quite greasy, meaning the fish itself didn’t “crumble” it was a bit moist. Although it appeared to be a good size, it was disappointing to cut 2 or 3 cm from the end before eventually getting to the fish. Two slices of bread were included but were not from a crusty loaf. For my wife, again, there were a good amount of chips. The steak and ale pie may need redefining as I don’t think “pie” is the right word. It arrived in a traditional steak and ale pie dish the meat was nice; however, it got lost in the vast amount of gravy that was in the dish, which also made it difficult to eat with a knife and fork. I think the qualification for it to be a pie was the thin, dry rectangle of pastry laid on top of the gravy. The onion rings were from a frozen pack rather than being made fresh. Overall, we weren’t looking for supreme quality. We wanted a pub lunch to see us through the journey home, and that’s what we got. For that, it’s suitable."

This was a lovely pub. The bar staff were talkative and helpful. The roast beef and the potatoes were to die for. We got offered fresh ham and it was lovely!!! It was an overall great experience!

Lorna behind the bar was so attentive and couldn’t have done more for us. The food was served quickly, it was hot, well priced for what you get and very, very nice. The beef in the pie melted in your mouth.

Rude staff, slow service Sworn and shouted at for asking how long it would take to get served . Then threatened by the female bar staff saying “I finish at 6 see you then “ terrible service . I understand they were busy but if you can’t handle the pressure don’t work in the industry

I have never experienced rude staff and bouncers like it! Had a great day at the races with a group of couples, walked in here, place had a foul smell, staff attitude was disgusting. Lady bouncer with glasses needs to have a serious word with herself. Ruined our night. Advised at all costs!!!!!

What a find, went there on off chance and so glad we did. Barman was friendly and welcoming, managed to squeeze us in even though the kitchen was almost closing. We had lovely food; paté, garlic mushrooms, lamb shank, and lasagne, typical pub food done well. Piping hot and well cooked. Real ales and others available with one called Victoria, specially brewed for them. Would definitely go again next time in Chester. Can't fault it.

Have been here a few times and every time has been excellent, but this I’m, OMG will never go back. Went there for the races on 01.07.23 to have a drink or two. My husband was waiting to be served for about 15 minutes, someone jumped the queue and my husband said that he has been waiting for ages, the guy behind the bar then through the plastic cups. The butch barmaid then went and got the bouncer and said that this was my husband who did this, several people said that it wasn’t him but the bouncer asked us to leave, which we did (you need to pick your battles). As we left the butch barmaid said that her shift finishes at 6 and she would meet us outside for a fight and called us C**ts! Very...

Located on Watergate Street, one of the most central streets of the charming city of Chester, in England, this pub is a very good choice for dinner or a few paintings taking advantage of the stay in the city. The place is very spacious and has a very cozy atmosphere with very comfortable armchairs and a horse-drawn decoration between the typical wood of the English pubs and a more modern air, mixing chairs and tables of different styles, with good lighting. When food has a wide variety of products in your letter. From the typical English chicken feet with mushrooms or vegetables, which are accompanied by garrison to the typical sunday roast, the typical roast roast they make in the English h...

"I booked a table for 2 really last minute on a busy December night, piccolio’s manger cosimo took the booking, he was so friendly and helpful that we really needed after a hard work in the cold winter weather! we went in and the restaurants that were breathtaking have woken us! the decor is stylish and above all it was so warm and cozy what we needed, we were greeted with smiles all around by every worker and was immediately taken on our table, without waiting time what ever! we were so swollen! Shortly after we sat, we tamara welcomed them beautiful, well presented and extremely polite. we thought up the menu, while tamara served us the most delicious Rosè Prosecco and took our orders. it was a hard choice, as we wanted to order one of all, the menu choices sound exquisite! so much choice and catering for all food requirements. my own and my friend decided to go for the spaghetti frutti di mare, which was absolutely inconceivable! muddle, mush and calamari topped with a huge garlic king prawn! it didn't take long until there were two empty teller and full bell! we stayed and talked together about the life and there was no hurry to move us from table to tamara has checked us we were so glad to have chosen piccolino chester for our girly dinner date and just wanted to say a massive thank you to cosimo, tamara and the piccolino team. I can't wait to come back to another fantastic evening."
