"Vastly improved from the period before the pandemic . Good range of meals at a sensible price particularly the set lunchtime options and now have some vegan choices too. Not the huge range of real ales from the distant past, but still able to buy a decent pint especially Mondays and Thursdays at £2.99 per pint! Friendly staff, too. November update:Just had a great lunch there today, and tried the mixed grill it was amazing! I wasn't expecting to be given so much good quality and well cooked meat! Have never had a better mixed grill anywhere!"

The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the waiter Josh was so friendly. He always had a smile on his face and went out of his way to ensure everything was perfect.

My group, who was staying in the area for the night, stopped by this restaurant for a couple of drinks. The bar had a nice atmosphere and we enjoyed our time there. We would have tried some other ales if they were available. We would definitely consider returning in the future. Speisekarte ansehen

Very nice just had a refit and looking good. Still got the landlord Liam and his team of friendly staff. Good choice of drinks and food. They are dog friendly and have water bowls and treats for them. It is very popular and get can get busy at weekends so recommend booking a table.

I recently visited this restaurant with friends and I was extremely impressed with both the food and service. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, and the recent refurbishment added to the overall experience. The prices were reasonable and even better with my blue light card. A special shoutout to Jazz and Anya, who provided exceptional service. They truly went above and beyond to make our dining experience memorable.

"Organised a surprise birthday lunch and Truffles were very accommodating in arranging to reserve a large table as well as offering us a couple of child friendly meals too. We were not only the first to arrive at the restaurant but the last to leave and were made to feel welcome throughout the whole meal. We enjoyed three courses of some of the tastiest food I’ve had in a long time. The kitchen staff are extremely talented in their menus. "Worst fish and chips for years. Ordered 3 cod plus 1 haddock and 2 large chips. 1 cod badly overcooked with batter burned and fish nearly solid. Other 2 cod slightly overcooked. Haddock perfect. Chips were badly overdone and tasted like oil not changed regularly. 34 Pounds total cost. Very poor and won't be returning. Used to be excellent now disgusting."

"I was not too impressed with the order that I had from this chip shop. The cost being the major factor of my low review. I understand that right now in the UK, prices have gone up and therefore cost of takeaways need to go up aswell in order to make some money from their sales. But, the cost of £33.50 for a large portion of chips, 2 bits of fish, and 1 battered sausage in my opinion is simply too expensive. Which also worsened my experience, was for a large portion (which states for 3 people), it could probably do only about 2 people if that. I will say however, the staff were very friendly, and the food itself was actually pretty good. The chips were well cooked, as was the fish. Regardless of the good points mentioned, I do not currently recommend this fish and chip shop due to the cost and portion sizes. If they were to increase the portion size, and reduce the cost (even by a slight amount), my review would change."

"We have been going to Ma Kellys for years and sadly today will be our last ever visit. Ordered our normal treat large cod and chips, front of house service no issues at all, in fact, felt extremely sorry for the young lady who had...to put up with the complaints whilst we were there. Had to wait over minutes for our food, my large cod looked like it had been in the fryer for days and was not large and had hardly any fish inside the batter and the chips were suppose to be freshly cooked but again looked like and felt they had been in the fryer for the same amount of time as the code. My other half’s large cod was extremely small and when we asked, apparently it’s now done on weight but the cod was taken back and re-arrived with the same chips but with another potion of cod. At the same time, another couple had already sent their meals back because chips and side orders were cold. I asked to speak to the manager but heard him say he couldn’t come out and then sent a young lad out but I asked to speak to the manager and an angry looking chap came out, said a half hearted sorry and my other half asked for a refund, the manager then disappeared and the same young man re-appeared to complete the refund, I sarcastically said that the manager couldn’t be bothered to complete the refund, he then decided to show up again and another half hearted apology. Two other couples were also asking for refunds. Such a shame, used to be a lovely treat for tasty fish and chips but sadly no more."

"Great service and wide ranging choice of meat and inclusive salads and sides. Staff were very friendly and made everyone welcome. The premium choice is £4 more expensive than the basic, but the cuts of meat are worth it. It is not the place to go regularly, because of the cost, but for a treat, it is well worth it. It was not busy when we went (1815 on a Friday), so I cannot comment on how the service would be when it is crowded. It would have got 5 stars if it were not for the expense and the feeling that you are there to eat, rather than relax with friends. As I said, great for a treat."
