"Very disappointed to have to compose this review feeling like we have given The Wayfarer chance after chance but now enough is enough and I hope this review helps them to reevaluate their staffing and operating procedures. I would describe my friends and I as...regulars of this establishment and this is the last disappointing experience that we will be encountering. Our experiences are a catalogue of poor management, inadequate management training and generally poor customer service and a complete lack of gratitude for patrons that are supporting their business especially following such turbulent times as we have all experienced recently. To list a few examples: We were left sitting at the bar on one visit for a good half an hour having asked the manager for our bill to settle up and leave. It got to the point where another customer actually pointed out to the staff member that we were waiting to pay. Another evening we were sat at the bar. I went to the toilet and returned to find that one of the waitresses had clocked off and sat in my seat. Even though I had left my drink there and my friend was still sitting there. I reached over her to retrieve my drink and no apology was provided nor did she move. Also, the manager was also sitting with her. I would have thought that a better example could be set to your staff. Having had a busy day we arrived at and upon enquiring as to whether food was being served were told that the chef had gone home. To rub salt in the wounds we were then informed that food should have been served till but they had closed the kitchen early. Further salt was rubbed upon hearing the service bell and food then coming out to other patrons. Before the manager proceeded to clean down the bar and also before asked if we had any last orders! A great way to make your patrons feel welcome. The blunt conclusion is that we definitely won’t be returning and to be frank I would rather spend my money with a business that appreciates the custom and customer. I feel that my complaints are fundamental basics to the running of a successful and welcoming establishment. It’s disappointing to say the least that the standards offered here are deemed to be acceptable by the management and owners."

We held a wake for my father at The Wayfarer and we would just like to say that from making the booking to finally leaving the management and staff were absolutely superb. We have had so many complimentary comments regarding the food and service from...our friends and guests. Thank you all at The Wayfarer for helping to make it a special day.

Recently visited with family and booked in for Sunday Lunch which was very good indeed. Nice warm welcome, lots of friendly staff. Nice interior and a good menu. The roast beef was very good indeed and great value. I had the sirloin steak which was...cooked to perfection. Great choice of beers and wines and they even have Pauliner on draught. We will be returning soon, fully recommended!

Visited Saturday evening as a group of Drinks orders took an age to arrive .Had to continuously try to get staffs attention to order drinks , water that we ordered before meal still hadn't arrived by the time we had finished our meal and...after asking for the time. When ordering our meals asked if the pate was smooth with the response of it's no bits in it if that's what you mean . I would expect any server to have at least basic knowledge of the menu. That said the food was amazing but unfortunately due to the poor customer service wouldn't visit again.

Been coming here for years and always thoroughly enjoyed both drink and food. Since recent lockdown menu has remained standard, boring and uninventive. Can’t believe a classic dish of fish and chips could not be accompanied with tartare sauce! The reason given was the chef...didn’t have enough time to make it! Unbelievable! If you come to my house, I have tartare sauce, horseradish, ketchup, English French mustard, balsamic vinegar and even more staple kitchen cupboard ingredients. Food was average in taste, cost above average compared with other local establishments in the area. Would I return? No. Would I recommend? No. Would I try The Stocks in Parbold? Yes Would I try Windmill in Parbold... Speisekarte ansehen

The Wayfarer is hosting special Santa weekends, advertised with Christmas Market ,Ice Rink etc. Sounded very festive so my daughter booked for little grandson to visit Santa followed by Sunday lunch for rest of family. What a DISAPPOINTMENT !! BEWARE, Overflow car park is a...very muddy field, the Christmas Market is a handful of craft stalls, the ice-rink WAS NOT BUILT. Waited OVER AN HOUR past pre-booked time to see Santa. Gift from Santa was a small thick card type baby book for a three year old So then into the pub for lunch ! The place was absolutely packed Covid safety We were taken through the pub and taken to a tatty tent outside !! the heaters were not even on . When I queried why w...

We went on Friday night to see Father Christmas. We knew it wasnt just a run in a grab a present type thing we wanted this to be an experience and we most definitely got it. The children were asked to complete a form...about whether they'd be good, what they were thankful for and what they would like for Christmas. On completion they were guided around and told the nativity story. They met the wise men, saw an Inn keepers door and were led to a stable where the baby was lying. They were given gold chocolate coins (which they were delighted with and finally led into a huge tent to sit and wait for their turn to see Santa. The tent gave me all the feels of Christmas. Music was playing, drinks...

"ok… I have deliberated whether to write this as don’t like to be negative but I think this place can take it so here goes… My husband booked a meal as a Christmas pressie this as I have always wanted to go to a michelin star restaurant and this is quite local to us. We arrived at The Barn which is quite basic in appearance as the downstairs looks like several saunas due to the amount of wood on show. Upstairs was nice and attractive. The staff are efficient but the whole set up is bit ‘cold’ and unfriendly. The staff were not particularly engaged; maybe this is how they were trained to be? The food consisted of amuse bouche which tbh didn’t really taste of much and this was a theme for the whole menu unfortunately. The homemade bread was delicious but the other offerings were tasteless and needed seasoning. -trout mousse in a lemon broth, including pips, was tasteless and the mussel mousse on pikelet didn’t taste of mussels. anyhow on to the main event-we ordered partridge -chewy and tasteless, the cured sea bream not seasoned sufficiently. The meals looked delicious-style over taste? Then the mains-my deer was tender and delicious but the sauces didn’t taste of much-I had to check the menu to see what they were meant to be. My husband ordered the steak-now at £62 this should have been SOME steak- what a shame it wasn’t -it was just a sirloin, bit chewy, not that great. Deffo not worth £62 of taste! It wasn’t caramelised on the outside and abit sinewy. The bone marrow bearnaise sauce was tasty though. Now I like cooking, I like food , I cook fresh meals every night but I’m not a chef. My first experience of food at this level… I will stick to local restaurants WITHOUT michelin stars at a fraction of the price -tbh I prefer my own home cooked meals! Is this a case of the emperors new clothes? Do people just think it’s good because they are told by someone else it’s fantastic? I’m disappointed in the experience at The Barn. Bit of a wash out and I will be asking for a meal at Bistro Verite in Birkdale next Christmas probs at a fraction of the price!"
