"Excellent chippy, we ate inside the restaurant. The staff are very efficient and friendly and adhere to all covid guidelines. The restaurant was immaculate and the decor is really fitting with the Nautical theme. There is a great choice on the menu and they have special catch of the day also. The children's menu was really reasonable with Chips, a choice of fish, chicken nuggets, sausage etc then the option of curry, gravy or beans and then a drink and pudding also included for £6.95. The food was amazing tasting and really well presented. We will definitely be returning again soon."

"I visited twice during my recent holiday. On the first night, the good was good but the lamb dinner was spoilt by being served marmite butter of all things! I asked for some butter to go with my food and only realised it was marmite butter after applying it when I asked the waitress, she knew it was marmite butter but hadn't told me, which I found very strange. The service when I finished my desert was also quite poor no one came to remove my dish or ask if I wanted anything else, and when I went to pay, rather than using a till which was free, a staff member (who had been simply standing round chatting to the waitresses all night just slouched and watched a waitress serve another customer at the other till instead. The food was good though and I decided to give it another try thankfully my 2nd visit was much better. I was sat in a much nicer part of the restaurant and the service was much friendlier and better (it was a far busier night which might have helped although there were different staff too . The food was excellent (I had the whitebait starter, steak main and poached strawberry and chocolate tart for my desert (which was particularly nice , if a little expensive, there was no marmite butter, and I had an enjoyable meal on the 2nd night."

"Went for an evening meal at the brasserie. Service was prompt and friendly. We had starters of scallops and goats cheese. The scallops were really excellent and the goats cheese bonbon was very good. Mains were Thai monkfish curry and pork. The monkfish curry consisted of three 1 inch cubes of monkfish and two prawns stranded in a sea of green sauce. It was okay but really not much in the way of monk fish. The pork was also okay but a huge amount of meat with quite a small amount of other things on the plate. Dessert was a chocolate bomb which was a pleasant combination of flavours and textures. I found it overall rather too sweet and cloying but I’m not a big fan of desserts anyway. There were small annoyances which I was surprised at. Table water was served in a jug which looked like it had come from the school dining room. There was an electric flickering candle on the table which looked really naff. The piped music was a dreary anodyne piano medley. So in conclusion, some of the food was excellent, some pretty average and with a cocktail and a pint of beer the bill was over £100. For that price I think there should be more consistency in what we were served."

"Starting with the positives: a warm welcome from cheerful staff who quickly confirmed our booking and took us to our table; an online ordering system which is easy to use and efficient; a bright and cheery ambience; the Guinness is good, lovely and cold; the...chicken jalfresi is decent. Not so positive was the fact I was served the wrong meal. Having ordered a seafood lasagna I was given a vegetarian one. When I pointed this out that vegetables were part of the seafood lasagna. Having to point out a second time that there was no seafood in my seafood lasagna eventually it was changed with the reason being that they had a trainee in the kitchen. Unfortunately the seafood lasagna didn’t have much seafood in and more or less an over-cheesed gloop. To give credit, the staff did come and check if everything was ok and I said it wasn’t very good. The chef came out (I assume he was the owner given his air of authority) admitted it wasn’t up to their usual standard, apologised and instructed his staff to issue a refund. It was a real shame as this was our first night of a two week stay in the area and we probably would have visited this restaurant a few times. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong meal!"
