This recently renovated restaurant now offers fresh pizzas. We stopped for lunch on our way to Hardwick Hall and found it to be very good value with friendly staff.

Ordered a carvery to collect via an app and arrived to find super friendly staff who sorted out a huge portion of tasty food for me …good priced food, great range of choices on the menu and most importantly staff who seem happy to be there, having banter with the customers perfect place for a carvery locally

Had a carvery delivered to eat with a friend who is house bound for a birthday lunch. Food was excellent potions were large and they had put in extras and a happy birthday message. You made us very happy thank you so much we really enjoyed it as no longer able to visit together you made an elderly lady very happy as well! Xxx

My wife and I usually enjoy having carvery at the Woodend, but we were disappointed with our visit today. We ordered two small Turkey carvery meals and typically receive three decent slices of meat. However, today we only received one and a half very thin slices. The roast potatoes were undercooked and the cauliflower stalks were too tough to cut with a knife. While the prices have slightly increased (but still reasonable), the quantity and quality of the food seem to be declining. I have been coming to Woodend for over ten years now. I have visited for breakfast, carveries, and always book a table at Christmas for myself, my grandchildren, their mother, and a couple of friends. We are always greeted with a smile and conversation, and we always leave feeling fully satisfied with the delicious food. I have recommended this restaurant to many friends, one of whom lives in Spain and says he can't find a carvery meal like the one at Woodend. He lives near Benidorm, by the way. I received an email offering 25% off food, so I decided to treat my whole family to a meal at this restaurant. I mentioned that I was ordering some starters while we waited for the rest of our party, who were running late. However, I was not allowed to open a tab, which was frustrating. I paid for the starters using the voucher, only to be told later that I couldn't use the voucher again because it had already been used once. It would have been helpful if I had been informed about this policy when I placed my initial order, as it seemed like a dishonest practice. Furthermore, most of the meals we received were cold and seemed to have been left out for a while, resulting in a crusty texture....

Went in and ordered via the app, was given the option to choose for the kids meals to come out asap or with mains so ticked asap. By the time we had finishes the kids food still wasn’t here so I went up to check (there wasn’t many people in either) asked at the counter to be told by a young lady the chef is plating yours now.. as I walked away I heard the chef turn round to the girl and say “well that’s what you get for having your carvery before your kids food arrives dosent it” I did stop and was going to turn round and confront him but I didn’t want to make a scene espically infront of my children.
