"We were recommended The Trecastell for Sunday lunch and it did not disappoint. Firstly; the location. It enjoys superb views of Bull Bay from the conservatory; we had booked ahead and requested a table by the window to make the most of the views. Secondly;...the staff. A smile and greeting on arrival. Table service to order drinks (I love that). Drinks delivered with a smile politely asked us to wait until we were invited to the carvery. Chef greeted us with genuine interest (not easy when you’ve said the same thing 30 times already today and offered a good choice of meats and serve yourself veg, sauces, etc. Thirdly, the food. Beyond scrumptious!! I had pork and turkey and my husband pork and beef. Delicious home made Yorkshire puds and stuffing balls like my Nan used to make. Roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots, (cooked perfectly) we’re matched by broccoli, cauliflower cheese and mash. A good selection of sauces and lashings of quality gravy set it all off a treat. I’m sorry I can’t comment on desserts as we didn’t indulge after such a flavoursome dinner. Be mindful that the carvery finished at 4pm when we were there. Would we recommend to others and return ourselves? Hell, YES!!"

great seafood, good service, dogs allowed in a part of the restaurant (further away from the sea view.) I want back. I need to learn what pan fried meagre means. it is stone bass, it is as always a much larger version of a sea bass filet

as happy we would have passed this hotel when looking for a place to eat. kitchen closed at 2.30 and we were very close! but there was no problem ordering a meal. we sat in the winter garden with beautiful views over the bay. service was excellent and so was the food and the location.

The service at this restaurant was a bit slow, but it was definitely worth the wait. The food here is not just good, it is fantastic. The pork belly was top-notch, the apple crocets were delicious, and the lasagne was made from scratch, not microwaved. The gammon was satisfyingly filling and the lamb shank was beautifully cooked. The staff, though busy, were very polite and helpful. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

Last Sunday, we stopped by for drinks and were pleasantly surprised to discover they had a Sunday carvery. The staff was very polite, helpful, and attentive. We had already eaten, so we weren't hungry until it finished at 4 o'clock. It's a shame it's not advertised on their website. If we were local, we would definitely be regulars as the food looked amazing. Thanks to the staff for a lovely afternoon and making us feel well taken care of.

First time staying at the Trecastell, would definitely stay again. We stayed in Room 12, clean, tidy and well equipped, had a lovely view of the bay. We ate breakfast and evening meals during our stay. Plenty to eat at breakfast and a great variety...on the menu for evening meals, husband recommends the steak, although he couldn’t finish it – the Trecastell certainly don’t skimp on the portion sizes. A very friendly and welcoming hotel with great food and drink, and fabulous views of Bull Bay.

we were a party of 4 in front, but had two dinners in the trecastell. we felt a bit in the restaurant area in the bar, but in general eating was served timely, hot and tasty. we had all fish and chips in the first night, good portions and we all ate. had to remember missing brot and butter, which were due, a few slices of brot with 2 unread frozen butter leaves. in the second night we had a mixture of pigs, Gammon/Egg plus two chickens that were good. we would eat there again if we were to come back.

We made a reservation for six o'clock so we could get home to our pets. When we arrived, we were seated in the bar area with a nice view of Bull Bay. Unfortunately, the four of us were only given two menus, which slowed down the ordering process. Our drinks were brought promptly, and we were satisfied until our main courses arrived. My gammon with hand-cut chips turned out to be disappointing - the chips seemed frozen and were overcooked and tiny. The fried egg was overdone, and the peas were hard and cold. For dessert, we had blackberry crumble, which seemed pre-made and lacked the traditional crumble texture. It was served with a small amount of cream, but we were left wondering why there...

"I've been to Dylans in Menai Bridge and always enjoyed it not this time. For the first half of our visit there was a stinging blue haze hanging in the air; the kitchen extractors clearly weren't functioning properly. Fortunately this cleared for the second hour we were there. Now to the service; after taking our drinks orders we waited nearly 15 minutes for them. Later, after staff had passed our empty glasses 20 times, we managed to order some second drinks by catching their attention. The food was the main problem; minuscule starters of crab and Welsh rarebit. My pizza came as a real surprise (as others have mentioned in previous reviews); gone is the thin crusted, well filled pizza of the past. The pizza is now about 20% smaller and my daughter mentioned that it looked like a child's portion. However, the main problem was the total lack of filling; there was a huge gap for at least an inch all round the pizza which was just fluffy dough. There were five tiny mussels on it and when I picked the mussel shells up they were so overcooked the shells turned to carbonised dust. I counted three tiny slices of red chilli. As others have mentioned, I realise the industry is having a hard time the price of the pizzas haven't gone up but the quantity and quality has plummeted and I would rather pay more to enjoy my meal. The pudding order came and was wrong. When the hot cross bun pudding came out it was still only on the wrong side of lukewarm. Don't get me started on the price of a pint of Aspalls £7.25, a price I would expect to pay in London. And before Lisa R replies that they would have replaced a dish, it would have been replaced with a similar disappointing dish....and no one bothered to ask us if everything was OK either during or after the meal anyway."
