"After a while, we were informed that another table had opened up and we would be moved there once it was ready. However, we ended up waiting until another staff member instructed us to order at the bar, despite our waiting to be moved. Finally, we were seated at a decent table. The couple next to us, whom we had met earlier, warned us that the food was decent but the service was poor, so we were not alone in our experience. I ordered the Leek and Ale Welsh rarebit, which was tasty but I felt was overpriced at £15. My husband ordered the cajun salmon off the specials board and found a long hair in his food two bites in. We immediately complained, and the chef offered a replacement meal, which we accepted. The staff apologized, but we were only given a £4 discount on a £44 bill, as my husband had to eat his meal alone, not because of the hair in his food. It only occurred to us as we left that I had also eaten my meal alone. This was the first time in many years that I did not leave a tip. I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience was unacceptable, and we couldn't wait to leave the restaurant."

Food was good (amazing chips) and generous portions, with a good range of ales and ciders. Lovely to sit in the garden on a sunny day. Go back in time indoors though, the pub must have some memories made here! Well worth a visit.

Love this place, our second visit. Lovely rooms, have everything you need. Welcoming staff, especially Kim who served breakfast. Always so efficient and friendly. She knew the area so well. Lots of good advice on our walks. Can definitely recommend it.
