"My friend and I were visiting Edinburgh the last weekend of August for the fringe. As we were staying locally we stumbled across Troy on a Friday morning for breakfast. My friend plumped for a cooked breakfast whilst I went for the Avo on...Sourdough toast. I live avo and expected it to just be lightly smashed and spooned on the toast, however what I got was nothing short of a smooth puree spread thinly like butter on my toast. I can only assume it comes like this in a frozen tub possibly. I would not recommend this place for breakfast."

Breakfast was small and a but weird and had to ask for numerous things. The avocado on toast was odd, brown and meagre.

BEST BREAKFAST! It was a cold Sunday and I was looking for a cosy cafe when I found Troy Cafe. Super friendly staff. Delicious coffee and MASSIVE portion of food. Great value for money. Can’t wait to go back and try their Lunch menu. Thanks...x

Popped in today for a Scottish breakfast (without the haggis) we got hash browns instead. Overall tasty, Good portion size but would expect more for the price, only down side was the egg wasn't runny! But that did not put us off, service was good...and I definitely recommend this cosy little cafe for some scran.

Awful. Crushed Avocado on toast was a thin brown spread that tasted Rotten. Egg on toast was tiny slices of sourdough with lard spread on it and eggs that tasted dreadful. Mac n cheese was clearly tinned, orange and lukewarm chios served with it...were cold. Toilets were unclean, only good thing is that the waiter was friendly. Speisekarte ansehen

I visited Friday lunch and ordered a carry out roll with bacon and mushroom and a coffee. Paid with touch card, left and waiter ran after me to say payment had not gone thru and could I return. With a coffee in one hand...and package in other I went back with him, put in my security number and paid again checked receipts on train and both had gone thru, just checked bank and paid twice. Mistake or a con? I will contact them Monday for refund. Roll was awful, coffee ok.

The guy working there messed up my order in two ways, when the food arrived he didn’t give us any forks until we asked after the food got cold. Anything we asked for we had to ask for twice minimum, simple stuff, like sauces or...sugar for coffee. It would be understandable but they were not really busy at the time of morning we went. And he was pretty rude throughout. I don’t usually care about service too much, I’m pretty easy about it but this was the worst service I’ve gotten. The food was nothing special.
