"The food is alright, albeit from a basic menu for a Hotel restaurant. The service is shocking; uninterested staff who’d rather talk to each other than assist you. Tried to make conversation with two of them and hit a brick wall. One of them dropped an item from our starter on the floor and said “I’ll pick it up later” and left it on the floor. A different person came each time with drinks and food. Nothing was written down when ordering and this meant the steak was overcooked. We didn’t say any of this at the time but for a fairly expensive Hotel restaurant, it’s just not worth it and we wouldn’t go back. I didn’t leave a tip and I’m sure I got a “look” for not doing so. It’s a shame as the venue is nice and we love the bar upstairs. The only saving grace was that they take the Taste Card which mean, the cheaper main was free."

The Starter and Sweet were excellent, but the Chicken Sauce on the main was like watery soup.

As we dined early the restaurant was quiet, the food was excellent and the staff weren’t friendly and attentive. I would recommend and look forward to visiting again

The food was good, but for the price I’d expected a bit more. It’s a really cool space but it just felt like it lacked a bit of atmosphere. One server was lovely, the other slightly cold.

When we arrived, the lady at the reception seemed quite annoying to be honest, she improved to be fair later. The venue turned out, not our cup of tea dull setting and dated. The wine was nice appetizers were mixed prawn cocktail fine cauliflower cold and not exciting the brat beef of my wife was beautiful carrots bad my bratessen not good because beef was so hard that you had a leather bag out of it and carrots bad candy that we both enjoyed. Overall not for us, but you must try once

The restaurant was not very busy. The same waitress who took the food order, forgot one of our appetizers, so everyone else had eaten the first course there before I could begin. One waiter on the restaurant floor was particularly attentive. Eating was okay, nothing overly exciting. Disappointed that there is only a set menu on Easter Sunday instead of the full a la carte. Not sure if it was specified on the site before, but it was disappointing to learn anyway. Set menu options were relatively simple and not all options available to the time we sat to eat 7pm. The restaurant used to be a nice place to eat, but feels like it's just not really taken care of. Such a shame because it is in a gr...

820 Stockport Road, Manchester, United Kingdom

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."

"I've been to a couple of different Dishoom branches a few times and have never been disappointed by the breakfast options. The sausage naan roll is excellent. A couple of really tasty vegan sausages with some melted vegan cheese all wrapped up in a lovely soft naan and served with some sort of sweet chilli dipping sauce. My go to now is usually the vegan Bombay. It's a good hearty breakfast plate with... a couple of the same well seasoned vegan sausages. Some vegan tofu akuri a nicely spiced tofu scramble. Some very well cooked mushroom slices (that are maybe a wee bit under seasoned). The baked beans are really nicely spiced, elevating them far beyond the standard sweet sauce fare that's the usual. A few slices of well flavoured black pudding (that could be fried to being a bit crispier). A cooked tomato which is a bit dull, I've never been keen on tomatoes on my breakfast plate and this once has not changed my mind. It could do with some more charring and maybe some spicing. To help you mop everything up, the whole thing is served with a couple of soft bread buns that have been nicely toasted. I usually top the whole thing off with some chocolate chai with oat milk you get free refills for your chai. Unfortunately, it isn't wheelchair accessible. There are stairs up into the restaurant and various small flights of stairs to get to different parts of the restaurant. Updated from previous review on 2024 03 25"
