Vietcafe - Speisekarte

This is a cafe with a shop. It is a little different to what we are used to. The food was quite tasty although it was strange that they couldn’t serve rice crackers or eggs despite selling them in their shop. There was a lack...of atmosphere and quite minimal customer service.

Delicious authentic pho and bahn mi with friendly staff and a large menu which also can cater for vegans and vegetarians. I thought the food was tasty but it could've been a little more spicy for my tastes. The food is cheap, filling and perfect...to visit for a quick lunch. I love the attached supermarket too!

Came to visit as soon as i realised this place existed, having recently returned from Vietnam I have been CRAVING banh mi and I was so excited to find it here. Not much selection but the pork was unreal, proper authentic street food banh mi...and just pure comfort food. The cafe itself has lovely authentic vibes and I can't wait to visit again !

I went here on a Saturday afternoon and it was less than half full but soon got busy. I chose a pork Banh Mi and was told that it would take minutes to prepare. Sat at a table that could have done with abit...of a wipe down but it was clean. Food arrived after about minutes. It was very tasty but the bread was very chewy as was the meat but the taste was very authentic.

I came here for dinner this month and ordered the Chicken Curry rice and vegetable spring rolls. The spring rolls were definitely overcooked but the curry was delicious, although it was definitely not fresh. The presentation was nice and clean but I needed a fork...to eat the rice, and I can use chopsticks! The rice just wasn't sticky enough. The major downside is that the menu is very small and they do not have their own website and the menu is not on their Facebook page, however considering that it is more of a café than a restaurant I ate well for the price that I paid.

I really wanted to like this place as I love Vietnamese food and this is the only place in Newcastle. I ordered the pho, but the broth was so bland. It was so disappointing. It just tasted like water with a hint of star anise....I was expecting it to taste deep and meaty but it was quite tasteless. I think it needed less water or more fish sauce, I'm not sure but it was just very bland... Also, the pho was served with a plate of brownish, wilted lettuce and beansprouts. I think they should have also supplied lime and chilli or more garnishes. I really hope the owners improve the food because I really want them to do well and it would be good for Newcastle to have a nice Vietnamese place.

Right. I never write a nasty review, unless it's unbearable, in this case a very rude behaviour of I believe a Vietnamese guy. But the sad thing is, I don't know if he's working there or not. Saw him in out service area, and...sitting in front of the shop alley, which not a wide area. Some of the food sold in their mini market, lots are only written in Vietnamese characters. As he sat there, I asked him, what is said on the package. I know he spoke Vietnamese language with the rest, so my guess was he could read Vietnamese characters. He looked at me with his unkind face said he doesn't know, and told me to ask others, arrogantly rude. After that he just back looking at his mobile phone. Jes...

You know I had high hopes for this place. It was a cute hole in the place. With few seats and a small shop tucked in the back. The staff was polite. But that's where my nice things to say ends. Now I want to...give the place the benefit of the doubt that it was and maybe this experience was bad because it was the end of the day and not much in. I was hoping to get a bon mi. But the server discouraged me to buy it because he didn't have buns baked for it. So he got convinced me to get the bbq pork rice bowl. The next thing I attempted to order was salad rolls... This restaurant is in the centre of Newcastle. It is combined with a grocery store on one side. The café is not large, with seats perhaps for people. It is simply decorated. You order and pay at the counter although the food is brought...to your table. The menu is brief, which I consider a good thing in a small establishment as you know the turnover will be fairly rapid. I was the only person eating at pm on a Tuesday evening. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are a good size.
