"We visited today for lunch and we were really disappointed. The garlic bread starter was not toasted/cooked at all and just tasted doughy and dry, the soup had no flavour. The roast dinner was disappointing, the chicken was pink, the roast potatoes were undercooked and...hard and the gravy was very thin. I had fish and chips which was ok but it was nothing like we’d had before when eating here. I wonder whether they have changed chef or food supplier in the last few months as the quality has gone way down. I can understand a reduced menu but when the food on that is poor, I’m not sure what the point is. What bothered me most of all though was the fact they had taken a booking for 18 people for a baby shower which goes against all guidelines and was loud and disturbing for everyone else in restaurant. I can’t understand how they thought that was acceptable. While I am all for supporting local, I cannot see us returning again. The wait staff were really nice and helpful at least."

"Terrible experience here very unfriendly and unprofessional manager/owner. If you have kids under 16 you’re segregated (lunchtime) into a shoddy back room with no atmosphere. When we were overheard discussing this he literally chucked us out the pub!! I know if I’d read this I’d think they must have behaved awfully, but we are a normal family who were only discussing this situation. Never experienced this type of aggression before and never been segregated in a pub with a 12 and 14 year old the whole pub was for eating not just this back room. Landed up at the Queen Victoria and had a delicious lunch and they couldn’t have been more welcoming. So from our experience if you have kids avoid this pub at all costs, my children didn’t need to experience his rude and quite frankly nasty manner he should really advertise this pub as adults only if that’s what he clearly wants."

"Lovely relaxing place to eat. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and plenty of it! I can highly recommend the goats cheese nourish bowl salad. The variety of flavours were a treat for the taste buds, and the honey dressing took it to another level. Will definitely be back for more."

"Our party of four experienced a great time at The Hawk. Very pleasant atmosphere and surroundings. Our friends dine there regularly whereas we don't and they spoke very highly of it. My friend who always orders it, recommended the sea bass delicious! It was one of the best, if not the best sea bass dish I have ever had! The cod and chips looked amazing and our friend confirmed it was. My husband's steak was just as he likes it and he loved the chips (this is a first for him! . The staff from our entrance to departure were all lovely. Carlie took our orders and attended to us so well. Checking we had all we needed and things one of us didn't need (allergy ! She was absolutely lovely towards us, friendly, smiley and relaxed. Carlie definitely helped give us a good impression and made us feel very comfortable. Thank you Carlie! I have taken the time to review this because however nice the venue is aesthetically it is the people who cook, clean, manage and work the face to face customer service who make the place worthwhile and worthy of acknowledgment. On this experience I recommend The Hawk as a great place to book!"
