White Lion - Speisekarte

We were searching for a Sunday roast in the area and discovered that the White Lion offered one of the best options. The portions were generous and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly when it came to vegan options.

There were three vegan mains which sounded good, I had the hotpot with fries which was really tasty and would definitely recommend. My family had veggie and meat dishes which were equally as good. Friendly and efficient staff. Well worth a visit.

Three vegan dishes caught my eye, and I decided to try the hotpot with noodles. It was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it. My family also enjoyed their sweet and savory dishes. Since the previous review the menu has been updated. There is only a salad (take off feta to be made vegan), a burger (take off the aioli to be vegan) or a hot pot as main meals. The burger was nice but definitely nothing special for £12. On top of this the service was very poor. We waited an hour for the food without warning that it would be a long wait. I wouldn't recommend. Much better places in hebden bridge for vegans.

Went here for dinner and food clearly labelled vegan. Staff had good knowledge of veganism and advised us that the chips had been fried in same oil as fish. She then checked with the chef who advised oil had just been changed so would be OK. We shared the sweet potato starter which tasted delicious and then I had the mushroom lasagna which was very tasty and mushrooms had a lovely flavour. Husband had good vege burger and chips. Nice atmosphere in pub.

The menu has been changed since the last review. There is now only one salad (without feta to make it vegan), a burger (without aioli to make it vegan), or a hot pot as main dishes. The burger was nice, but nothing exceptional for the price of £12. Additionally, the service was very poor. We had to wait for an hour to be served without any prior warning about the long wait. I would not recommend this restaurant. There are much better vegan options available in the area, such as Mosquito Bridge.

The veggie hotpot was priced at 14 and the veggie burger at 12, which was advertised as vegan and gluten-free but later it was discovered that the GF beer was not vegan. The veggie burger was dry, without vegan cheese or sauce, and appeared old. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, especially considering Hebden is known for being vegan and gluten-free friendly. There are definitely better and more affordable dining options in Hebden.

Despite being told the burger could be made vegan and gluten-free, I was later informed that the bun was not vegan. I was still charged the full price for a burger without a bun, which was dry and lacking vegan cheese or sauce. The overall experience was underwhelming, especially considering Hebden's reputation as a vegan and gluten-free friendly destination.
