"I’ve been coming to this restaurant now for well over a decade and it’s still my one and only reason for visiting Halifax. The food is always top quality, portions are generous and really good value for money. But more than that is the experience Pajaree herself provides. Always warm and friendly, cares for her customers and never forgets you. Her partner Philip is lovely too and always great to have a catch up with. We had mixed starters, a main each, egg fired rice and a pork omelette all washed down with a lovely bottle of Shiraz and the whole lot cost less than £55. "After using cinnamon spice for many years, last nights service was appalling. 4 hour wait for a curry ordered at 6pm via their website paid for in advance. Many calls during the evening and reassurance given even at 7.30pm informed it was being cooked clearly incorrect misleading information. After an evening of multiple calls to the restaurant having the phone just ringing out, calls cancelled and text messages unanswered I did speak to the restaurant at 10pm they still were giving excuses the curry was being cooked totally unacceptable. A family evening spoilt without even the courtesy to call us and inform us of a 4 hour delay. I dread to think of people who ordered after 6pm when or if their food arrived or was it just ours that was forgotten. The restaurant should not accept orders they cannot deliver in a timely manner and if a delay is above the informed time of delivery the customer should be informed at least then giving us the option of sourcing the families evening meal elsewhere. We are still awaiting a refund which was not processed last night as promised, again very disappointing when the money is taken out if the bank immediately refunds should also be prompt. A family evening ruined by incompetent organisation of a takeaway service which surely was anticipated to be busy, even more disappointing as the food us usually very good but significantly let down by the operational management."

"We ate here twice. Well, almost. Our first visit was an extraordinary culinary experience, from welcome, to food, to service. We had the chicken liver parfait with Pedro Ximenez, hazelnut, and toasted brioche which was a symphony of flavours, a luxurious start to an unforgettable meal. Tasted out of this world! The 10oz salt-aged sirloin steak was cooked to perfection, offering a juicy and robust taste that satisfied every carnivorous craving. The pork loin, accompanied by BBQ courgette, basil, crackling, and an apple vinegar sauce, was a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that left me in awe. The sausage and courgette roll added a delightful twist to the dish. The black truffle cauliflower cheese was a decadent side, elevating a classic comfort food to new heights. And for dessert, the banana panna cotta with miso, caramel, and peanut was a creative masterpiece, ending the meal on a sweet note. Shibden Mill Inn truly delivered an exquisite dining experience, with each dish showcasing the chef's culinary artistry. It's a place where food becomes an unforgettable adventure for the senses. Sadly, after being so excited to visit a second time, we were let down by extraordinarily slow and almost uninterested service so we had our starter, a drink and left. Apart from that, the Michelin star food alone is well worth a visit!"

"Visited as a family with 2 young children. The waiter who served us was attentive and friendly. The waitress however seem very inconvenienced should we ever dare ask for anything. The waiter seemed panicked when I asked for a corkscrew to open our wine. I understood when he returned 10 minute later with my bottle with the cork pushed into my wine bottle, with plenty of corn sediments floating in it. Not the best start… We had the Tawa for 2 for £25. A little overpriced I would suggest but the portion size is generous! However, everything was just a little below expectation and a little bland. Nothing was poor quality, but little spice and little flavour in any of the dishes. Meat in the curries was a little sparing too compared to other restaurants serving similar dishes. Was surprised to be told cash only as I paid but luckily had enough to cover the bill. Not one we’ll return to."

"This restaurant has recently reopened as a Caribbean restaurant. A group of five of us decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. The staff were excellent and after being seated, the chef, Paul, came out to meet us and informed us of what he had planned for our evening. He asked who preferred chicken and who preferred lamb (2 chicken, 3 lamb). We were served 2 massive fruit platters followed by 2 baskets of bread. Then we were presented with a tasty mix of 4 delicious starters which we all enjoyed. For the mains, we were served with 2 side dishes of salad and some sweet potato fries. I opted for the lamb and it was so tender that it melted in my mouth. The presentation of all the food was stunning and we had a wonderful evening. We were so impressed that we made another reservation before leaving. The prices were also very reasonable!"
