"This restaurant is amazing! The food was top-notch, I ordered the festive menu which included partridge as a starter and venison as a main dish and it was fantastic. The staff were friendly and took the time to chat with me. With the cozy log burner glowing, I could have easily stayed there all afternoon. The price per person was between £30-40. Overall, I would give the food, service, and atmosphere a perfect 5-star rating."

"Dropped in on the way back from somewhere today on the off chance they had a table and, very fortunately, there was. However, if you are considering eating here, I strongly recommend booking ahead, either on the phone, or through the website. This is an extremely popular pub and the odds of getting a free table are slim. The service is extremely good and the food is astonishing. We both had mains and puddings. The portion sizes are enormous, but more importantly, the quality of the food far outstrips what you may be expecting from a country pub. Value for money here is off the chart. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We will be going again. Often."

"We thought we'd stop here on our way back home for dinner. Big mistake. We arrived and sat down but then waited minutes for drinks, the priority seemed to be for the customers at the bar. Having looked on the website earlier and booked...a table, extremely annoyed to find out that they were not running the menu online but instead a new one, which is extremely basic and limited. We didn't want to stay but with tired hungry kids we were forced. After finally ordering, half an hour into the visit, we waited a further minutes for starters. The times wouldn't have mattered if it was busy, but we were the only people eating there. The starters arrived and to be fair, were very nice. We ordered messy burgers. What arrived was a dry old, fried burger that looked and tasted awful. Not much was eaten. The final kick came when we had to pay, though we got the government Eat Out' scheme on the food. The pub and Marsdens are not doing it on the drinks!!! There were no apologies from the staff. Altogether a disaster trip and a place we won't return to!!!!"

"the other day sat in the beautiful garden. my sister I chose from the main menu, 2 courses for £9.95 both had whitebait, which came with beautiful salat garnish some beautiful fresh brotbutter. beautifully boiled presented. sue chose the shepherds pie i the ham, egg chips drown. nice large, shocked chips, not these terrible thin pommes! very nice meal we enjoyed very much. nothing was too much annoyed for the staff that was nice. Beautiful little touch was the small pot of sweetness that came with the hot drinks. they are here before will certainly be back to everyone would recommend."
