"My husband and I booked Xian for a Friday evening, just the two of us. The place was pleasantly busy but not overly crowded and we had a small table close to the rear of the restaurant. Our drinks were ordered straight away and the table already had prawn crackers to nibble on while you chose your meal. We were pleasantly surprised to be given glasses of iced water as well as our chosen drinks. The water was topped up over the duration of the evening as well. We chose a set meal C, and on asking for a substitution for one of the dishes, that wasn’t seen as a problem to change it. The mixed starters of prawn toast, ribs, spring rolls and satay chicken skewers were tasty and were served with two sauces and a finger bowl for any messy digits. The meal included crispy duck as a second starter with more than enough meat for the six pancakes that came with it. Service of the mains was prompt and hot and we found more than a match for our eventual stuffed bellies. To finish, we ordered a jasmine tea each which came in a pot with more than enough for several refills. The service was very attentive with drink re-orders timely offered and quick table service of your food but not feeling rushed or pushed out. The restaurant manager/host was a really friendly soul to all over the evening and he even offered us a free drink after having paid our bill. My husband accepted the brandy offered but I, being the night’s chauffeur, sadly, had to decline but a very nice touch on his part. The service was excellent and the food very good. Tonight was our first visit but will certainly not be our last."

Eight people, cost £360.00 We had: Whole crispy duck Seaweed 2x sweet and sour pork 1xchucjen and cashew 1 crispy chilli beef 1 tofu thing 2 spare ribs 1 gong boa chicken 2 egg fried rice 1 plain rice 4 portions of apple banana fritters and ice cream Two bottles of wine. It's not bad. Good service. Food came a little too quickly for comfort. Pretty standard Chinese fare, nothing especially well cooked. Very good buzz to restaurant on a Sunday night. Adequate Chinese food.

When my family I wanted to treat ourselves celebrate special occasions, Xian has been the place we would go we were never disappointed. We have made so many memories celebrated so much at Xian over the years. I am so pleased Xians is still going. We moved away in 1997 we still remember Xi’an as being our family favourite, (plus we stole an ashtray, because you could smoke in restaurants back in those days!-I know disgusting! and I still have it! My point is, it is our souvenir is in the same condition today as when we took it. (Sorry Xi’an! So they are obviously providing the same quality, day in, day out as they did for us nearly 30 years ago. They truly deserve celebrating! Regards, To Xi’...

This was my favourite Chinese restaurant 10 years ago and I was a regular customer. Returning for the first time for a special family meal , The service was poor our waitress/ waiter was abrupt to almost rude , no friendly atmosphere, the starters arrived separately, not all together, if we had waited to eat together some of the food would of got cold . I ordered soft shell crab my favourite dish, it was awful, so greasy and lacked any flavour. Soon as you finish your plate it was whipped away before you could put your cutlery down !! Our mains were average at best . The food was very expensive, which is ok if the food is good quality but it’s not .. I would not go back again, not sure what’...
