"The Almonry is the official café and restaurant attached to Ely Cathedral, and is located within the cathedral 's grounds (behind the building). It 's small, picturesque café that you can relax at after a visit to this magnificent church. Seating out- and inside is limited, so during peak times you 'll probably have to queue for a while to get in. It seems easier to find a table outside, if you 're willing to deal with the wasps in the garden, of which there are many. There 's a board that warns you of that at the entrance to the café. I found this to be no issue at all, but if you 're allergic, avoid the garden. The food menu is mainly confined to various cold and warm sandwiches, which aren 't exactly cheap, but good. I had the Pulled Pork Brioche Burger , which was nice, and it came with a side salad and a dollop of sour apple jam, which greatly added to the flavour of the burger (It 's served separately). Yo can also pick from a variety of desserts. Generally good and very friendly service. If you 're a beer lover, you 're out of luck though: Only a bottle of the dreaded Sharpe 's Doom Bar is on the menu."
