"We had arrived at The Swan yesterday, a group of approx of us. We arrived around the pub i believe had just opened for service. The staff were expecting us as we had sent in a pre-order the day before. We all queued...at the bar and paid for our meals and drinks and sat down. First note was we were pretty spread out as oppose to being on big tables but this didn't seem to cause any issues. After about mins the food started to arrive, or so we thought. pizza's came out first, then nothing followed for about minutes, then followed burgers, followed by another few minutes wait. This continued for the next minutes hour, our food coming out in dribs and drabs. We were hoping to all have eaten together rather than in dribs and drabs. One member of the party had to return her food and ask for a refund due to her meal being burnt on the outside and fairly pink, if not raw in the middle. A few people tried to cancel their food as it had been such a long wait but were told that three meals were on the pass to come out, yet still waiting a further minutes until their meals actually appeared. Another member of the party at the last minute ordered a side of fries to go with her nacho's, the nacho's arrived first and the fries didn't follow for a further minutes later, they had to take them back to the office! What should have been a nice send off lunch for one of the team, turned into a long agonising wait, there were people eating left over pizza crusts because they were that hungry. I've worked in this industry for almost years and i personally would have been embarrassed to have served the food like this. I don't know why the food took so long, especially when the establishment received the order the day before, surely it should've been prepped and ready to go on our arrival? I don't know about everyone else but i can safely say i will not be returning ever again. Such a shame because the menu sounded lovely."

"Called in here after a walk around Fewston reservoir, and it was fantastic. It looks great from the outside and doesn't disappoint inside, it's a proper pub. I was fascinated by the history and the ladies behind the bar were knowledgeable about it. The original 18th century part is well maintained and large extension to the rear is well within keeping of the original style. There are some fantastic old photos on the wall too, well worth a look. Called in with my young family and the staff were really friendly and accommodating for my young family. The menu is perfect, exactly what you'd want from a British Pub, not trying to be anything it isn't and missing the mark but doing good British pub food. It delivered too! Food arrived quickly which was helpful with impatient little ones. The steak pie was incredible, big portion, full of tender meat and rich gravy. My wife had fish cakes which she said were really good, and kids were happy with theirs. Nice choice of beers too, Timothy Taylor's enough said, went perfectly with steak pie. It was also really pleasantly surprising in a pub like this to have such forward thinking baby changing options; separate toilet just for this, with creams, wipes etc provided in case you didn't have your own. Left very satisfied and looking forward to returning soon. Well done to all staff, and don't change or lose the fantastic identify and product you have that so many others don't."

"We were visiting Harrogate for my fiancée 's birthday but unfortunately Haks (our favourite Chinese was closed for the week. I saw that the Cambridge Café had good feedback so we took a stroll up there. We got there at 6pm. There was a man and a woman inside who were obviously the owners and their kids were sat at a table eating. The door however had closed written on it and that they were only taking Just Eat orders. We walked back to our apartment, also passing another Chinese takeaway called Rice . I thought about ordering from the latter, but decided to get back and get a meal delivered from Cambridge Café. Firstly I thought the layout of the dishes being within subsections on the menu was cumbersome and silly. We ordered prawn crackers, prawn toast (they don 't do seaweed?! , spring rolls, noodles, egg fried rice, chicken curry and sweet and sour chicken. The prawn crackers are supposedly quality Vietnamese ones that, in reality taste like all the others we have had! I absolutely loved the prawn toast but my fiancée wasn 't a fan. They were chunky and flavoursome. Veggie spring rolls were bland and tasteless, noodles and rice were OK. The sweet and sour chicken was very nice. I found the chicken curry a bit weak, it tasted dumbed down. Overall it was a fairly average meal with the prawn toast for me being a surprise highlight. On reflection however we would not eat from there again as better alternatives are available."
