"Having been coming to The Plough over a 30 year period when visiting London, it is such a real shame to see what 's happened to it. Once it was an English country pub with great food and service and well worth adding an extra night at Heathrow just to go there for dinner. Coming to London once again, we booked a hotel nearby and made a dinner reservation at The Plough for 7pm. Pulling up out the front, the first thing we saw was a large sign saying TANDOORI CAFE across the top of what used to be an outside food service area. On going inside, we realised we need not have bothered to make a reservation. We were seated and given the menus along with TANDOORI MENU. Our usual starter was the breaded mushmoom caps which used to be great followed by the grilled Scottish salmon fillet. We ordered the same items and it was all down hill from there. Asking for a wine list, the young waitress replied We don 't have one because the prices change all the time. REALLY ?! So , taking pot luck and with no idea of price, we ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio. It was not Italian and very ordinary for 16 pounds. The starters came out and instead of whole mushroom caps , they were chopped up small field mushrooms. The salmon then came out and it was overcooked and had obviously been in a microwave. It seems The Plough is no longer what it used to be and for some unknown reason, whoever owns it now is trying to turn it into an Indian Tandoori Restaurant !!! It 's a real shame that this has happened and after so many really nice dinners there, we will not be going back."

"A meal here a few days ago two adults one teenager. Ate here on a whim having looked at the reviews. though it worth a try. not busy a good few customers and quite a few empty tables On entering we asked for a table for three and were gestured at a table, and quickly handed menu's But then we were consistently ignored for the next 25 minutes. despite trying to attract staff they busied themselves elsewhere or found things to do by the bar and at one point decided that all the empty tables needed clearing. When we did get served we really struggled to be understood what food and drink we wanted, it felt like a comedy sketch when even the point at the menu method didn't work. We eventually managed to order drinks and food, although we did have to remind the waiter about the drinks once. The food started to arrive two starters followed by a main course followed by a starter then two more main courses followed with supposedly according to the menu three different types of tandoor cooked chicken that in reality all turned out to be identical. About 15 minutes after the chicken the Naan bread supposedly to accompany the two chicken dishes arrived what was left of the chicken was now cold. About a further 15 minutes later the third main course arrived, my daughter and i had finished eating by the time my wife's Dosa arrived. The actual food was okay with a Chilli Paneer that was actually really good. The two Naan breads were both served hot and fresh but were both utterly tasteless My wife's Dosa pretty good. After being ignored at the start of the meal the same happened at the end of the meal, we probably could have simply walked out, i don't think any of the staff would have noticed or even cared if we had. but we are honest so we stayed and paid Despite passing this restaurant fairly often I doubt we will be desperate enough to return. There are other and better restaurants within walking distance"
