"We visited the Waverley Inn this past Sunday for a family dinner, there were 6 children and 3 adults. Several of us had roasts, and a few of the kids had the kids menu meal. I have to say, every single thing was sooooo tasty. I had gammon, which was the nicest gammon I've ever eaten, my partner had the lamb which was also delicious, the kids meals were tasty too and priced at an appropriate level. The service was perfect, from the friendly and helpful bar staff to the lovely chef who chatted to us about their method for preparing the gammon, and who was also happy to help us at the table, he was amazing! Finally, the puddings were also really nice and there were quite a few to choose from, I had a delicious rhubarb crumble! All in all, I can't wait to go back and would heartily recommend visiting!"

"Our cottage owners where we were staying at Byre Cottage Mandy and David recommended Woods Kitchen. They had left a lovely hamper in our cottage for us upon arrival from Woods Kitchen which included scones, jams, and fresh foccoci bread/ half an artisan loaf.Managed to book in for a Friday night at Lovely welcome from the team and we were seated towards the rear of the venue facing the garden and huge double patio doors. Lovely ambience...fairly lights and new vintage decor.My Dad and I are coeliac and there was a fantastic selection of meals that could be adapted. Our girls aged and made friends with the table next to us. Our dog was welcomed and he was a good boy under our table.Food ....huge portions quality food. Good value for money. My husband had the ribs and was given huge racks. I had the vegan curry. Am not vegan but fancied the butternut quash and aubergine curry. I was given a good thick slice of GF bread and rice accompanying it. Didnt need the new potatoes in it too. I would have made up with added chicken in there!! Mum had the halloumi burger and the kids burgers too. Fantastic thick fresh and hot chips. My Dad had the chicken. We both were able to have a pudding. Apple Crumble. Very yummy. Well worth the money spent. for of us. adults and two children. My husband had the knicker blocker glory....I would say this was the only thing that was a little disappointing....because it was basically a can of fruit cocktail upended in his sundae dish with two scoops of icecream and a tonne of swirly cream. Our girls wanted the brownie but it was all gone so they were substituted with a cupcake from their front of house chilled cabinet which wasn't a bad thing! It was just abit cold rather than room temp.Thank you for having us. We really enjoyed our meal on our last night. We enjoyed the hamper left for us in our cottage. Godshill is a beautiful village."

"I had a really tasty pea soup here, full of flavor, with some fresh bread and a perfectly drizzled salad on the side. The vegan almond and marmalade cake was exquisite and there are other vegan cakes too! I washed it all down with some leaf tea. I think it's the only fully vegetarian establishment on the Isle of Wight. It’s above a fresh produce shop. I stopped here on a bike ride around the island, it's a just several miles from Ryde. It's actually on one of the excellent cycle routes around the island. The interior was really nicely done with modern and rustic features and the staff were very friendly. I will definitely go back when I have a chance. If you are on a bike, there is a window at the front, so you can lock it up across the road and keep an eye on it."

"Went for an early dinner with my wife and daughter (8). We were the second group in the restaurant at 18:30 so service was good to start with. However, by 19:30 we had finished our main course but the restaurant had filled up and with just two waiting the tables we waited 30mins and with empty plates and glasses, before getting the bill and leaving. How was the food? I had sea bass which was OK but the rice was not fresh and had been reheated (it was dry and stuck together). Polo Funghi was very excellent, King prawn tagliatelle was OK!. My wife orders a gin and tonic which was £5 on the menu but £12 on the bill, we did not ask for a double!. I guess it is what it is, but definitely not repeatable........"

"Staying in Ventnor we stopped in at the Bistro to to grab some sandwiches and cake before heading to Blackgang Chine for the day. The Bistro had been recommended by friends and looked great. And they didn’t disappoint! Service was extremely friendly and quick despite people queuing out the door! Great selection of salads, sandwiches, pastries and cakes. Everything was fresh, huge portions, prepared in house and great value for money. The staff were lovely, they even took the time to chat to my young son which was extremely kind. I would absolutely recommend visiting for a takeaway amor lunch and will definitely be visiting when we stay in Ventnor again!"

"We've been visiting for many years at different times for different meals. Breakfast, Brunch, Dinner's Ice Cream's, Cream Teas etc. This July we once again sampled some wonderful fare. Salt Beef baguettes, Breakfast baguettes, Seafood Platter, Bockwurst, Milkshakes. Muzza's has an EXTENSIVE menu, so extensive that it's quite a challenge to make a speedy decision, that said, it's virtually impossible to make a wrong decision. The fact that Muzza's is open all year round at a seaside resort is testimony to the quality of food, the friendliness of the staff and all round loveliness' of Muzza's. After writing this review it has suddenly dawned, that I've failed to mention something important to many people, pricing. At worst, Muzza's prices are competitive, generally the pricing is incredibly fair and of excellent value. Already looking forward to next years holiday and more visits to Muzza's!! P.S. Tried the Ice Cream Tapas. 8 scoops of Ice Cream, flavours of your choice. Apparently it's for 2 people. Excellent value!! We had a Tapas each!!"

"Very poor. Feel sorry for the hard working front of house staff who were great. We ordered posh fish and chips, seafood platter and a sandwich. Others were served before us who had arrived after us so we had to ask a couple of times about our food as it was well over an hour since ordering and unfortunately when it came the fish was accompanied by the worst greasy,less than thrice cooked, flaccid chips reminiscent of when your mum had a chip pan in the 70s and hadn’t heard of kitchen roll... the plate was swimming with so much grease I had to use the serviette to lay under the food to mop it up. Posh was not an adjective I would use... so sadly will not be returning as it is in a good setting. The apologies that only one chef was on was not acceptable as during the busiest time in Cowes a business should know better, but even one chef should know how to cook fish n chips...?"

"Staff were friendly but the food was shocking. Sausages were cold in the middle on one plate, pink in the middle on my babies lunch. All the sausages just looked wrong and not cooked.Prices were quite steep, well above London prices.The orders were muddled, well done bacon was no where near well done I would say only just cooked. Gave almost raw bacon and runny egg to my pregnant partner who asked for it all to be well done.We refused to eat and left only paying for the drinks. "we have booked this restaurant tonight as tasty bites while we are on vacation based on the reviews and trip advisor ranking. it was our special food to be so we really look forward to it. the first impressions were good. the restaurant is small, intimate...with beautiful decor. once our beverage order was taken and arrived a short time later. we chose the a la cart menu as there was more choice, but there is a set menu that seemed good. we got free bread, olive and oil, which is usually a good sign. but the dings began to get something wrong at this point. the first output was the fruit flies. they came, they circled, there were many sheikhs around my table at the end of the meal. we clinged together to end the annoying, but the personal never even asked if they could do anything or whether we want to move. our appetizers arrived very quickly after our brot was taken away (we still had our appetits drinks). they were very different sizes; my men black pudding and speck starter was very big compared to my egg and spade. it looked more like a main course. both were delicious and I feel that the ingredients were good. our main thing came very fast after our starters were taken away. both were delicious and we enjoyed them. we were never asked if we want a drink or if our food is in order. considering how fast the first 2 courses came out, we were left unattended for 30 minutes. my man finally managed to get the attention of the waitress and asked for another drink and if we could have dessert. we hired our order and although a cheese knife was not taken over a drink. about 15 minutes later no drink. in this time, the 2 waitresses asked other customers whether their meal was ok and whether they were black pfeffer (which they would then bring out in a huge pfeffer milk if the customer says yes) and then standing at the bar chatting. During the time, I continued to kill fertilizers and asked myself where they all came from. we finally decided to leave and quit our desserts and drinks. when I told the waitress what were the problems they apologised, but said and I quote: "we can't do anything about the flocks as it is the time of the year." I would suggest that there is a series of simple and effective ways to get rid of fruit flies. it just needs a little strategic cleaning and a few household supplies to make the fly fall. there are many articles online about how to do it. I was honest with many restaurants where there are no fruit flies. we were not offered a declaration for the lack of drinking, except just for short personal. I understand. but maybe they go away with great unnecessary pfeffer mill and focus on ensuring that customers have drinks when they are short workers? just one idea. the attempt to go was another ordeal, as their card machine did not work. we stayed 15 minutes outside while the boss/owner tried to fix it. at the end my man ran to a point of kiss so we could go. Maybe it was a night, but we were so disappointed."

"This restaurant is located at Woodside Costal Retreat, we visited whilst on holiday at the retreat for an evening off cooking and washing up(as the dishwasher in our cabin has been broken now since Sunday 5 days! The staff at this restaurant are disinterested at best, and were outright rude when speaking to my husband. When entering the restaurant we asked for a table for 2 (there were 2 other couples already seated The supervisor asked if we had booked, we said we hadn 't. He then stated that you have to book in advance and you would have been told by reception. We said we hadn 't been informed. And his response was yes you were in a particularly arrogant manner. We are not naughty school children and expect to be treated as adults! I note that it doesn 't say anywhere in the restaurant you need to pre book, nor in the welcome information in the cabin!I honestly think the staff wanted to finish early that evening. The food was ok, the veg arrived cold and had to be microwaved warm. Finally we had a problem with the coffees we ordered which weren 't what we wanted (waitress couldn 't wait to leave the table so we couldn 't clarify . A very milky coffee arrived which I couldn 't drink, my husband took it back the the bar where the supervisor told him it had no milk in and was unwilling to listen or make a new coffee. Customer service is appalling. Save your money, there are lovely pubs in the area which do far better meals for better value and the staff value custom. (Try the Woodsmans Arms"

"A real find! A comfortable and really friendly country inn with cosy rooms, a drying room (ideal for walkers), and an extensive bar and dining area looking out onto attractive gardens and with a roaring open fire. The food’s excellent and very good value, with lots of choice on the menu including at least half a dozen tasty vegetarian options and a couple of unusual ones (eg a large mushroom dhal). Good choice of real ales too. And it’s great to stay somewhere where’s a family playing scrabble st one table, two couples playing darts round the corner, two grey-haired guitarists tuning up one evening, and lots of couples focussed intently on each other. Minor gripe that there’s not much fresh fruit for breakfast, but there are lots of cooked options and they do have fresh croissants daily. We’ve already agreed we’re coming back!"

"This bar is part of the Patterdale Hotel. The hotel has a restaurant which seems to be mainly for residents' use. (We did ask for a table one evening, but were told hotel was busy so no spare tables The lounge is nicely decorated with...modern wall paper and seat coverings, plus beautiful glass photographs. The carpet is traditional looking and perhaps wasn't replaced during the makeover. We ate here twice. Both times we ordered as soon as the kitchen opened and the food came very quickly. The first night's salmon was good and fairly tasty. The next night the plaice was rather dry and flavourless. It came with roasted veg and chips which were both good. Nothing exciting really, but it was good solid food in decent portions which was welcome after a day on the hills. There were only a couple of tables which were comfortable for eating at, the rest of the tables were low, which would mean bending over to eat. There are lots of tables outside. Staff were pleasant. We chose to eat here rather than a nearby pub, due to the strong smell of chip fat in the pub on the occasion we popped in for a drink."

"My family and I visited after walking several miles from a neighbouring village. We were hoping to get a spot of lunch but were told that as we hadn’t booked there were no tables left and the kitchen were taking no further orders. That would have been understandable if not for the fact that there was a further 25 minutes of serving time and reserved tables remained unoccupied. We stayed to have a drink outside but upon leaving which was long after serving had supposedly finished, we noticed a family who I can only assume were known to the staff that had managed to order food with no reservation. Very disappointing and we won’t be returning. There are plenty of good alternatives nearby."

"We were here on 15th August a very helpful lady said we could eat out in the garden as we had out two small dogs with us. Nothing seemed to much trouble as at first we didn’t realise that we was sitting in the smokers area! We soon moved up into the garden area how spacious lovely this was! I’m writing this as the food was delicious very well presented. I had Steak Ale pie my partner had a Ploughman’s . The meals were both plentiful. The Maltese-a Cheesecake with ice/ cream was to die for! Once again the waitress had garden customers all under control nothing was to much trouble. A big Thank you for such a lovely meal. "We have been loyal customers of Yarmouth Deli for many years and have always enjoyed their products. Unfortunately, during our last visit a few weeks ago, we were treated very poorly by one of the staff members - an older blonde lady who seemed to be the source of embarrassment for the younger staff. Thinking it was a one-time incident, we decided to give the shop another chance today, only to be shocked by the continued rudeness of the same lady. She spoke to us in a dismissive and condescending manner, making it clear that we were inconveniencing her in 'her' shop. After speaking with others, we learned that this behavior from the lady is the norm. It is unlikely that we will return to this shop and we will be sure to warn our friends about the unpleasant experience."
