"Excellent selection of foods and very cheap. I chose the man O'War in the absence of the available Cajun chicken. It was very spicy so if you like a little heat I would definitely recommend it. "Local independent gem in the village! Weve just been for their 7 course tasting menu and what a delight it was perfectly cooked food in a relaxed atmosphere with lovely staff who make you feel at home from the moment you walk through the door. Hoping they do another of these evenings soon so we can share a great experience with friends. The weekday meals are beautiful too and a great value midweek treat. "Gosh, if you want very slow service, a dog in the kitchen, and the staff telling off the children for colouring in, then this is the place for you! We ordered a large round of drinks at 4.45 and had NT been told they closed at 5 and then weee forced out at 5.04 even insisting one of us had a plastic cup for their drink so we would leave. I knew there was a reason why I haven’t been in here in 5 years despite it being on my doorstep in a wonderful location."

"AVOID THIS COMPANY IF YOU CAN, they employ malicious car parking tactic of which will result in you receiving a big fine, even over staying the car park by 1 minute. Was ok. I've had better fish and chips from South Shields. In spite of that, the chips were still ok and the venue is fabulous and also great value. Worth visiting. There's some good offers on for kids and OAPs as well. Having to pay for parking and I was 10 minutes over my stay. Turned into a ccj etc. Disgusting"

"my family has come here for 3 generations, what everything really says. great food and even better customer service. the workers are always so happy to serve them and full of entertainment I always find endearing. I'm really picky with chips and still have a single chippy out there that even compares with the arcade! whether they sit in or take away the food is always fresh and perfectly cooked. I just brought my partner for his first time in the arcade and he said it is now his favorite chippy and wants to come back to try the kebab. it is even shocked to the trips and how cheap it considers the quality of food. recommend this chippy always. absolute facility at whitley bay! x"

"We frequent Waffles and Cones at least once a month. The food is exceptional, as they will cater to your every request. In addition to their delicious waffles, they also offer savory options such as nachos. I have sampled a variety of items on their menu, including waffles, nachos, cookie dough, and pan ice, and I have yet to find anything I dislike. The service is equally remarkable, with the whole team going above and beyond to make you feel like a part of their family. Thank you for a truly memorable dining experience."

"my father, I wasn't in this pub since the remembrance Sunday before luredown this was actually our first pub meal since the afternoon a few 2 years later. dad had said that the pub had only eaten at lunchtime, but since a few evenings in the week it was added. eating is right boiled home (hopefully this is not misinterpreted as it is intended to be a compliment) I would go so far to say 's as much as a meal her grandmother or aunt would cook for her. The last weekend of dinner is between 5 7 o'clock, but given the recent price increases everywhere, the meals are made with a decent selection of drinks at reasonable prices. the employees are not only very pleasant and will realize that they will be "in short with them, but want to take care of them. toilet facilities were perfectly maintained (smarte flowing walls etc). they're going to leave very satisfied. bonus for me was that my father lives just a few streets away, but there are a few places close to park. the pub has also a real concrete wheelchair ramp for those who need one, what more, it is not jammed with furniture inside. best piece for the local traditionists, is the classic old nb blue star sign hanging up (from my knowledge, the ananas has a similar sign from the golden aria,) although unfortunately no newcastle exhibition on tap or amber ale flake. but I can thoroughly recommend a visit in a traditional village pub in a predominantly urban region."

"I had intended to get a takeaway from Ujala in Station Road, but found that it had closed. Spice Bay was right in front of me, so in I went. So, I ignored the broken front windows, the crazy mis matched decor, the dull lighting and the three week old newspapers strewn on the table at the waiting area. I studied the menu and was impressed by the choice of dishes available. I chose mine and was told it would be about 15 minutes. This gave me time to read TripAdvisor reviews on this takeaway which was new to me this experience is always a bit of a gamble but the reviews seemed favourable. My meal duly arrived at the allotted time and I scurried off home full of expectation. I was not disappointed. The chicken was perfect and abundant. The sauce was rich and very very tasty. The poppadoms were light and airy. The rice was done to a t . The shop may be a bit rough, but the food is outstanding. Don 't be put off by outward appearances. This is now my new favourite and I shall be going back. Recommended."

"I am fortunate enough to live within walking distance of the Grand Hotel. We have held a family wedding there, frequent Copperfields and tha Lounge regularly and had relatives stay there. We were delighted to recieve a gift voucher for the Brasserie at Christmas. We...booked to use it on our anniversary. It was a Friday evening and it was somewhat of a disappointment to find only four other couples in the large dining room. To me the atmosphere was somewhat lacking. We also thought that the menu was limited for example there was only one chicken dish and after asking the waiter what it was it was a small whole chicken served hunter style not good for a partner that doesn’t like chicken on the bone. The vegetarian option were also limited. In the end we had steaks, one sirloin and one fillet. The fillet steak was very good. Although the price was at the top end I baulk at having to pay extra for a sauce and onion rings the steak itself coming with one small mushroom, half a tomato and chips. My prawn cocktail was good. The service was good if not a bit too efficient! To me if the Brasserie wants to attract other than Hotel residents in numbers it needs to make the dining room a little more intimate and perhaps look at the menu to attract younger diners, don’t have to look far we love Oras and Allards for a dining experience. Trip adviser don’t allow you to rate as good it’s either very good or average and my experience wasn’t in the very good category and I wouldn’t return unless there was a change to the menu."

"I absolutely adore Chinese cuisine, and this restaurant is my top choice for Chinese food. The quality of the dishes here is outstanding, especially the chow mein. I have a garlic allergy, but the staff has always been very accommodating and double checked my orders to make sure they are garlic-free. My partner used to prefer Indian food over Chinese, but now we both love ordering from this place. The delivery service is also excellent."

"We should have had some food, but drinks and meeting people were the main focus of the day. What a great place to socialize! The music was not too loud, there were lots of friendly people, and everyone in our group agreed that this would be the perfect spot to spend an evening in Tynemouth. It may get busier on weekends, and it is on the smaller side compared to other venues, so it fills up quickly. It's best to arrive early to secure a seat and enjoy watching the world go by. The staff were extremely friendly and exceptionally cheerful for a busy pub. We will definitely be returning as often as possible, just to socialize, of course."

"We had our dinner here and were truly impressed. The food is lovely. We had banana blossom deep fried 'fish ', chips, vegan tartare sauce and mushy peas. The banana 'fish ' was amazing, better than ordinary fish and of course, the healthy, environmentally better choice ! There is a fab, extensive range of vegan food and what a good range of non-vegan food, though I can 't common on how good it is, I bet it is nice. It is possible to sit-in, we did. However, it has got a great deal of space, so it might be better to plan to take-out."

"Booked a table 3 mths earlier and was so looking forward to it, arrived just before 8pm which was when the table was booked for, on arrival the man on reception was on the phone and just pointed to the sofa to wait, when he ended his call he never came to see us , or anyone come to that, people was coming in and asking for table and was show to them but we just was forgot about, eventually someone came to us and said the table wasn't ready. 8-30 we were shown to our table. Took our order and went, 9.15pm still no food, got up and walked out. Given not explanation for the wait, went next door to shampan and was greeted and served like vips. Later they phoned me asking why we left was told that they was short staffed and offered a free meal, but we were only there for the night and home was 350miles away, not impressed"

"Oh my goodness, I am in the area to attend a family wedding and checked out the local reviews to find a good Indian meal. This place came up well so I ordered a takeaway . We had chicken bhuna (should have been chicken tikka) and also chicken tikka jalfrezi, as well as keema rice. The chicken tasted odd, this was consistent across both the standard chicken and the tikka. Also the keema rice was bland. There is no way we could eat the curry dishes, they were basically inedible. I think the chicken was low quality and old which contributed to the odd taste. I rang the restaurant straight away and the response was 'well I have been selling it all day and no complaints '. My request for a refund was turned down flat. I tavel the UK with my job and have eat many Indian meals, I also cook Indian food as a hobby. I can honesty say this was the poorest Indian food I have ever had. Please avoid this place at all costs and save your custom for a resturant/takeaway that deserves it."

"My twin brother Stephen and I were in Newcastle for a week's holiday, one of the days we decided to jump the tram line to Whitley Bay and visit some of the great little places along the tram route,this is what brough us to Monkseaton, one of the first pubs we visited was The Black Horse Pub. This is a superb pub ,multi roomed, an island style serving bar, pubby decor and furnishings, tv's and big screens to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside in their beer garden, a very good pub indeed. We were here on a Wednesday late afternoon, a friendly young bar person greeted us warmly, we ordered Strongbow dark fruit cider at the bar ,these were served iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great pub we were in. My cider was really good, a crisp, effervescent cider that on a really hot afternoon a totally refreshing brew, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying an iced cold cider sat with my twinny. We really enjoyed our ciders in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to The Black Horse Pub we were totally impressed. The Black Horse Pub is easy to locate along Front Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, Midday till 11pm. Friday &Saturday, Midday till Midnight. Sunday, Midday till 11pm. A great pub ,one I highly recommend you visit if you're in the area ,its only a few minutes walk from Monkseaton Metro Station."

"I was really looking forward to trying the smash burgers here but unfortunately was completely disappointed by our visit. Luckily managed to find a table big enough for family of 4 with space for pram at side. After. A few minutes of confusion we realised you had to fetch own menus and order at bar. The burgers sounded great and I was pleased the kids menu was very reasonable. We ordered two burger from the main menu, side of beer battered onion rings and a kids burger. The burgers looked great, husband loved his but I found it far too greasy and the amount of fat dripping out of it was off putting and messy. Son loved his. The onion rings on the other hand were revolting, again fat dripping out, batter was not crispy and the were lacking in flavour. Something had seriously gone wrong, maybe a one off and we were unlucky? We also had a pint each. It was nice enough but I felt the £5 per pint price tag was a little on the steep side… maybe they’ve only recently put the prices up due to inflation or has it been £5 for a while?"

"Today I went with my friends to a restaurant for lunch and had their buffet along with cake and chips. It was incredible. The buffet had a great selection of fresh and well-presented dishes that were very tasty. The cakes and chips were especially outstanding - each bite was like comparing everything else to them. The homemade chunky chips were delicious, and the steak chunks were huge, paired with a flavorful salt and pepper pie crust. The bar service was fantastic, with friendly and efficient staff. I highly recommend this restaurant for any event. 5 stars."

"I had reserved a table for Wednesday evening as a friend from London was visiting. Irvin's phoned in the afternoon to say they'd had a major electrical fault and had to close the kitchen. They were terribly apologetic, offered to rebook, and recommended another restaurant close by in case it had to be Wednesday. Well, it had to be Wednesday on that occasion, but the courtesy and care of that phone call meant that when another friend came by on Friday, we had no hesitation in going there without a booking for lunch. The food is excellent, as is the atmosphere. But it's the service that makes all the difference."

"Went here yesterday and have to say the food was absolutely disgusting, raw soggy pizza, asked for a spoon for my son and got handed a dirty spoon, attitude on waitress disgusting, other waiter handing us drinks with dirty black hands and scruffy finger nails so we had to wipe glasses down, that night ended up crippled in agony with a sore stomach and now have food poisoning vomiting, flies and miggies everywhere, and even had to go to the table ourselves cause nobody escorted us. Daughter didn’t eat her food because it was more sauce on the pizza than anything else. literally dripping in sauce) will not be back place needs closed down or new management, the restaurant used to be so clean and now it’s just disgusting with minging food and scruffy waiters and a waitress with a stinking attitude stomping about like she owns the place being rude shouting do you want Parmesan after we repeatedly said no! £70 for ****! Could of got a better meal at Tesco for a tenner."
