"I wondered why this restaurant described itself on the board outside as ‘fusion’, why there were so many Korean dishes on the menu and why the serving staff have heard of Asahi beer but haven’t heard of The Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese daily newspaper that is at least 50 years old. The answer is that the Akasaka website isn’t being completely honest when it describes their Northampton branch as a Japanese restaurant. They aren’t really Japanese, although some of their menu items are clearly Japanese. Don’t let that put you off, however, as they are serving excellent food and we enjoyed our meal there very much. It cost us about £70 (inc. 10% tip) for our meal for two people including a 175ml glass of Sauvignon Blanc for my lovely wife and two 330ml bottles of Asahi Dry for me. The sushi was excellent, the edamame beans were great but we didn’t feel that the Dolsot Bibimbap (a Korean dish with loads of rice, some shredded vegetables, prawns and a fried egg on top) offered very good value for money at just under sixteen pounds. We would recommend Akasaka in Northampton and would certainly go there again, but if we want a genuinely Japanese meal, prepared and served by Japanese staff, then we will be sticking to Ginza Restaurant on Wellingborough Road in Northampton. Don’t like the way that the male members of staff at Sakura on Bridge Street speak to their female colleagues, very disrespectful, so we avoid that Japanese restaurant nowadays. Great to have a choice of three Japanese restaurants in Northampton post-pandemic, and our favourite of the three is Ginza."

"Ok so. This pub is great when Paul is there. The manager. Very accommodating. And knows how to run this place. The pub is hidden and doesn’t really get passing traffic. So they rely on the customers returning. I’ve just deleted my 5 star review. As it seems that you can’t write 2 reviews.. But. Here we go. We visited here 29/08/23. At 1900. The staff were rude. Back chatting. Genuinely. I was so disappointed and disgusted to the point that I won’t return. I’m not sure if the young man was trying to impress his colleague.? But for him to back chat me has infuriated me. We ordered two meals and drinks. £20 roughly per dinner scampi I had the fish. I asked for more tomato sauce. The young man didn’t answer me. Instead he thought it was clever to over fill a pot of sauce and slap it down on the table. So it would definitely spill. He is very rude. And has a massive attitude problem. Pretty sure Paul Would be very disappointed with your behaviour. Nobody came to ask how our food was. But when the young lady took our plates away, I said that I didn’t enjoy the fish as it was too greasy. She just said. Oh. And walked away. Not even a respectful response. Those two members of staff should not be trusted to run the place in the evening. If you do visit. Go during the day. Happy to discuss this further. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Recommended dishes: Fish and Chips, Scampi and Chips"

"Visited on Friday 12th April for the first sitting as you definitely have to book. Was seated as we arrived and the staff are very friendly and very attentive. Had a lovely table for 2 by the window, with a lovely view of the boat moorings at Billing Aquadrome. So this is an all you can eat buffet, which cost £26 per person on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the rest of the week is £24 and children is £16 each. Good choice of drinks which are reasonably priced. We opted for Spring rolls, deep fried salt and pepper spare ribs and sesame prawn toast (that hungry forgot photos), which were delicious and highly recommended. Prawn crackers are on the tables along with a sweet chilli dipping sauce. You can order as many starters as you wish. Then you then order middle dishes, which include crispy duck, and other dishes, but we decided to wait and order main dishes which have a wide range of choices from Chicken, pork, beef and seafood. We opted for Chicken chow mein, fried egg rice, sweet and sour pork, crispy chilli beef. Absolutely delicious and again you can order further mains, but we were full as the wife is not a big meat eater but there are non meat dishes to order. What i will say is this isnt the place for children as they wont get value for money. We sat close to a large table of people along with 3 children aged 7-9. We noticed they didnt eat much of the dishes and had to order chips which are priced at £2.50 each further to the bill so, over £50 for these 3 children alone!! Highly recommended and we will be back very shortly. Parking okay and lots of space inside with a nice atmosphere. Food is delicious and very tasty. Best Chinese i have had for a long time."
