"A typical English pub nestled in the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. A select daily menu with a well priced senior citizens 3 course choice but lots of specials on the boards. Food was decent and the vegetables were freshly cooked and crunchy. Service was passable. Tied it once and ticked a box but I will provably venture elsewhere next time. Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie and vegan options. Parking: Barely any parking. Kid-friendliness: Kid and dog friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible."

I had a wonderful experience at this pub, which is very friendly and welcoming. I visited on a Wednesday lunchtime and was pleased to find a good selection of beers. The lunch menu was impressive, and the dinner and Sunday options also looked appealing. The staff were fantastic and accommodating, making for a pleasant visit overall. Highly recommended!

We visited for lunch and the food dishes we had ranged from very poor to mediocre. My wife’s parmesan and pea risotto resembled a thick stodgy porridge and was inedible. To make matters worse, the young man who was serving us had a really bad attitude when I checked to make sure we weren’t being charged for the risotto. Will not be returning. Price per person: £20–30

Five of us enjoyed lunch on October 28th and had a fantastic experience. We ordered from the senior citizens' menu, which was an excellent value at £12.95 for three courses. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the staff were very helpful in a pleasant setting. I have to give five stars for the chips! We will certainly be back. I had arranged to meet friends for lunch and was looking for a restaurant that could accommodate my gluten-free and dairy-free diet. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the menu clearly marked gluten-free options, and I even had the choice of having many dishes prepared gluten-free. I decided to try the gluten-free fish and chips, and they did not disappoint! All the meals were excellent, and the service was outstanding. We will definitely be back!

"I had the pleasure of visiting La Terraza Tapas Bar in Upton with my kids, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The ambiance was incredibly cozy and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a family outing. The friendly staff added to the welcoming atmosphere, making us feel right at home. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the tapas selection. The steak with chimichurri sauce was a burst of flavors that left us craving for more, and the Tempura prawns were simply delectable. It's clear that the chefs here take pride in their creations, as every dish we tried was a delightful journey for the taste buds. As a first-time visitor, I was thoroughly impressed by the overall experience, and I can confidently say it won't be our last visit. While the prices leaned slightly towards the expensive side, the quality of the food and the cozy ambiance more than made up for it. La Terraza Tapas Bar strikes the perfect balance between a gourmet dining experience and a comfortable family outing. I also appreciated the cleanliness of the restaurant, which is always an important factor for me when choosing a place to dine. All in all, La Terraza Tapas Bar offers a fantastic option for a memorable lunch with family or friends. If you're looking for a place that combines delicious food, a warm atmosphere, and a touch of elegance, this is definitely a spot worth considering. AKASAKA Japanese

"I wondered why this restaurant described itself on the board outside as ‘fusion’, why there were so many Korean dishes on the menu and why the serving staff have heard of Asahi beer but haven’t heard of The Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese daily newspaper that is at least 50 years old. The answer is that the Akasaka website isn’t being completely honest when it describes their Northampton branch as a Japanese restaurant. They aren’t really Japanese, although some of their menu items are clearly Japanese. Don’t let that put you off, however, as they are serving excellent food and we enjoyed our meal there very much. It cost us about £70 (inc. 10% tip) for our meal for two people including a 175ml glass of Sauvignon Blanc for my lovely wife and two 330ml bottles of Asahi Dry for me. The sushi was excellent, the edamame beans were great but we didn’t feel that the Dolsot Bibimbap (a Korean dish with loads of rice, some shredded vegetables, prawns and a fried egg on top) offered very good value for money at just under sixteen pounds. We would recommend Akasaka in Northampton and would certainly go there again, but if we want a genuinely Japanese meal, prepared and served by Japanese staff, then we will be sticking to Ginza Restaurant on Wellingborough Road in Northampton. Don’t like the way that the male members of staff at Sakura on Bridge Street speak to their female colleagues, very disrespectful, so we avoid that Japanese restaurant nowadays. Great to have a choice of three Japanese restaurants in Northampton post-pandemic, and our favourite of the three is Ginza."
