"Bad experience here on Sunday 9 May 2021. At the moment, COVID restrictions mean outdoor dining only. This pub has a lovely covered outdoor patio and we wanted to make sure we could get an evening meal under the current restrictions.I called at the pub at 1pm, and was told food was being served until 6.45pm. There was no option to book a table but I was told it would be unlikely to be full. We returned at 5pm and tables were free perfect. The server took a drink order and asked us to choose a table on the patio. When she brought our drinks, I asked for the menu only to be told they had stopped serving food at 3pm — only two hours after I had been at the place to ask if they were open.As it was a Sunday at 5pm, the supermarkets were closed. With few places serving food because of the restrictions, we were left with no option but the Co op.The server was apologetic and offered us crisps or peanuts (not exactly a substitute for an evening meal) but it was just a bad experience. We ended up paying for drinks for no real reason, and then were left without an option to eat."

"Undoubtedly the best dining experience of the year! We called ahead to book a table and were greeted with incredible and inviting phone service. The decor was stunning, instantly transporting us to India with peaceful music, cozy furnishings, and beautiful lighting. Suv and Mash were exceptional hosts, ensuring our visit was extraordinary. They treated us like royalty and made sure everything was perfect. The chefs deserve massive compliments, as the food was divine and above gourmet standards. I ordered a chicken tikka madras with extra garlic, keema rice, and keema naans, while my partner had a chicken tikka kasmeri with all the trimmings - both dishes were emptied and left us satisfied. The only minor downside was the high price of the diet cokes. Overall, it was an amazing night with delicious food, warm and friendly hosts, and a new favorite restaurant discovered. "for decades my wife and I lived in the northeast and visited Blanchland, which went into lunch, was definitiw nostalgie. we found all the changes for the better (e.g. heating that was no longer ineffective or too hot). we only needed a light lunch so we could get for ham hock chicken terrine and a beef with horseradish sandwich. the former (obvily home made) was a good part with excellent toast and chutney, while the sandwich had several layers of bark (which was done as much as desired). eating was washed with glasses of merlot and shiraz both good quality. it may not be the cheapest of lunchtime, but the bar was comfortable, the service was good and the quality of lunch meant no complaining of us."

"It can be hard to get a decent meal in Morpeth in time to get to the 6:30 concert during the Morpeth Gathering. Lollo Rosso proved to be the solution. We booked for 5pm at the start of their happy hour and were whisked to a table by the window which also had space to stack musical instruments without cluttering up the restaurant. Our one course meal came with speedy, efficient service and understanding that we had to pay and run at the end to get to the Town Hall for 6. We must return for a more leisurely meal another time."

"We visited this pub on the recommendation of the hosts of the B&B we were staying in, and we are so glad we did. The staff were friendly and really helpful. They catered to our allergies and their whole menu is labeled as to what dietary requirements their food meets. They were especially good if you have a dog with you. They bought our westie a bowl of water and humoured us when we ordered her a sausage (its her holiday too, after all). They made her a temporary dog bowl and tried to ensure it was the right temperature for her. The food was amazing; freshly cooked and the meat was juicy. I would highly recommend the Samson Burger, the Bacon Jam was surprisingly really good! Thank you to all the staff for a lovely meal"

"Such a delightful find in this small, interesting town. Full of charm, the tea rooms are down a steep staircase in an old cellar in a building, which although through the ages has changed its use, its architecture remains stubbornly the same. A family home, a clock and watch seller and repairer and now a small delicatessen and tea room, it has a small but tasty supply of cake and pastries, and it makes very good coffee. The young lady serving was truly delightful. Upstirs I availed myself of a selection of delicatessen treats and that made for an excellent supper. Well worth a visit."

"I love my seafood and whilst visiting Amble in Northumberland, Jasper’s Bistro did not disappoint. My family and I were welcomed at around as an opportunist walk-in (in the future I will book in advance) and we’re lucky enough to get seated and fabulously...fed in the lull before dinner. We ordered seafood dishes from the specials board and the a la carte which included lindisfarne oysters, squid with garlic, mussels in a garlic and cream sauce to start and we followed this with lobster with garlic and anchovy tapenade, whole crab salad, beer battered monkfish with twice cooked chunky chips -all beautifully presented, cooked to perfection and tasting fabulous and in my case, washed down by local beer. Nothing was too much trouble for our server with kids trying lobster for the first time (big success btw) extra plates, tools, napkins were all helpfully provided. No hesitation in recommending this little gem of a restaurant from our experience today!"

"We hadn’t been here for quite a while so thought we’d pop in. We arrived at 11.30 and were told meals weren’t served until 12.00 by a very friendly waitress. My husband ordered the Greek style lamb which came with roast potatoes and a selection of vegetables. The lamb melted into his mouth and the sauce was rich and tasty. I had the balsamic and sun dried tomato monkfish which came with rice and was absolutely delicious. You could taste the honey in the sauce and the balsamic vinegar gave it a slight kick. We couldn’t resist dessert and my husband had the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and judging by the clean bowl and speed it was eaten, he thoroughly enjoyed it. I went for the fruit pavlova with double cream. The fruit was caramelised and the meringue was perfect. Including 2 cokes the bill came to around £53. For the quality of the food it was great value and we will definitely be going back soon."

"Visited the pub on the island for an early afternoon pint and maybe some food. Being the first pub we encountered on the island and advertised 3 beers on entering and approaching the bar the landlord just stood staring at us and said nothing. My husband asked what beers he was serving and was told only one beer available as he had been that busy. When we asked about food told no more orders. All tables had reserved signs so we asked if we could sit down and have a quick beer and he said no the pub was virtually empty buy we was advised it would be rammed in 10 minutes but, pointed in the direction of the beer garden. We found the landlord arrogant rude. At first we thought we had maybe looked at him in the wrong way but, then he spoke to the next customers in the same way. We had our drinks in the run down grassed area outside and left. Had two wonderful nights on the island and had all our drinks in the Crown Anchor delicious food, fabulous service, staff friendly and knowledgeable and couldn't do enough for you. We did not let the Shi? Experience ruin our time on the island, although we would suggest a possible rename of the Ship Inn to the Shi?? Inn you decide for yourself."

"We visited this little pub a few times for dinner whilst staying at Hadrian's Wall campsite only a mile away. Despite stormy weather it was an amusing yet exhilarating walk along a VERY Roman road to get to this place. The pub is small but very cosy with open fires. As we were here over the Winter Solstice it felt very festive with the fires lit. The staff were very friendly and the decor of the little rooms was pleasant with a table with the Sycamore (now sadly felled) at Sycamore Gap printed on it. There was a statue of a Roman Soldier standing on a window ledge. We ate here twice and the food was homemade, reasonably priced, hot and delicious...hand cut chips!! I had the salmon one night on a bed of crushed potatoes and it was a simply excellent meal. Really impressed with the food, service, atmosphere, and the location cannot be beaten. We will be back, although I can imagine it gets horrendously busy in Summer."

"My husband and I had a lovely meal here on a Saturday night. Both the starters and mains arrived hot and were tasty. The green back dining room has a nice feel to it. The servers were are friendly.I must address something that we witnessed multiple times and that was servers carrying clean glasses by the rim and not the base or stems. We even saw a young man carry a bottle and tumbler full of ice with his fingers pinched on the lip of a glass that he delived to a waiting patron. This is unhygienic."

"Had a delicious lunch yesterday at this very friendly place. The open crab sandwich and panini were very tasty. There was a large selection of herbal teas and I can certainly recommend the lemongrass and ginger. My husband enjoyed his 2 flat whites. Both the tea and coffee are locally sourced in Newcastle. The two homemade cakes we had were very yummy. We sat outside with our dog who loved the fuss they made of her and they even brought her her own water bowl. All in all a great find and we will certainly be back when visiting the area in the future."

"We went for a sunday lunch with our two girls and we really enjoyed our visit. The girls serving us were very polite and professional and efficient. The lunch was delicous, lots of yummy veg, chicken and beef cooked perfectly and nice big yorkshire! Our girls enjoyed their mini chicken dinner and their ice creams after. The lemon tart was delicious and I am sure we will be back again soon. Atmosphere was lovely, relaxed and informal but just nice groups sharing a lovely meal! Thanks Bistro 9!"

"I had a fantastic Sunday lunch at this restaurant. The menu offered a choice of roast beef, pork, or turkey with all the trimmings and not one, but two Yorkshire puddings. I decided to go with the shoulder of lamb from the Sunday menu, and it was delicious and perfectly cooked. The food and service at this place are top-notch. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal. To top it off, a nice bottle of house red wine complemented the meal perfectly."

"the calzone vesuvio is the best calzone I've ever had and I had pizza in italy. amazing teig and the filling was just the correct balance between melted and solid. the other pizzas also received rave reviews. the personal was pleased to swallow various types of pasta between sauces and the happy hour prices were amazing. 5 of us had two courses (starter and net) plus drinks for less than £45. great place, great staff and simply ingenious eating"

"Lovely medium size cafe, very clean and inviting with good space around the tables. Modern decor and furniture but with plenty of old world features like the beamed ceiling and stone fireplace. Warm welcome from the staff and food served in a timely manner but it was early in the service and quiet at the time. Coffees were very good and hot, the mince pies were home made and warmed before being served which really brought out the flavour of the fruit filling. The food menu looked interesting and would definitely return on another visit to Alnmouth."
