"alchemilla is an intelligent, fine restaurant with meat, vegetarian and vegan tasting menus. choose from 5 (for lunch only) 7 10 courses with or without wein pairing (the wein pairings are also vegetarian/vegan accordingly and the sommelier when we have visited at all was a vegan so they can be sure they understand this). I mentioned that I was vegan when booking and checked that the wee pairings would also be vegan. they are well booked in advance, especially for Saturday nights, but we chose a 1.30 watch slot on Saturday and that worked really well – especially as we decided for the 10 courses and so it was over 3 hours. the employees were friendly, informed and attentive, without disturbing. the whole experience was fantastic and eating was the best I had everywhere. I really felt that the vegan options were complete on a par with the meat and there was a vegan alternative of everything (e.g. homemade olive oil butter with the delicious brot and fruity yellow with the coffee). my partner, although very tempted by the vegan menu, chose the meat version. some of the courses were the same, but where they were not, he had a taste of me, so he could score each one, and he explained it at the end. I uploaded a photo of the menu I had visited. high points were the cauliflower, celeriac (which I usually do not have a fan of,) leek hazelnuts, kohl mandeln and the Rhabarb vegetable. oh, and the mushroom-tear reconciles the bouche. Yes, these are many highlights, but eating was amazing. it's not cheap, but good reason. I felt definitiw that it was worth every penny and will be back in the future."

"Came in for a meal last night and the service really wasn’t up to scratch. It was a very busy evening, and the staff were not stood doing nothing by any means but the service needs polishing. We waited a long time for drinks and when we asked where they were we were asked who took the order. I don’t see how it’s relevant and time spent asking could be spent finding out where our drinks were. We got them eventually after another wait. Salad and bread came but had to ask for plates. The mixed shish was absolutely tiny for the money. The pieces of meat were minuscule and we were shocked. It did taste nice but the amount was not acceptable in my opinion. We had another person join us and he ordered food and more bread and salad came. We weren’t told this was for him and so we were confused. Fair enough we should have realised but the poor girl bringing food seemed new and just as confused as to why we said no to it. No one helped her or offered an explanation. No one checked back on our food and no extra drinks were offered. A bottle of soft drink is tiny so we had to ration them to last as no one came to see if we’d like more. The servers were pleasant, but it was disappointing that the service was barely there. I feel all issues can be rectified with a strong managerial presence around. I hope this feedback is constructive and can helped address any issues in the future."

"Came in here twice when staying in Nottingham. Once for breakfast, once for lunch. The second occasion, I realised they 're only a breakfast cafe, but I was in before they close at 2, so had a breakfast omelette for my lunch. This is a terrific...cafe and unique. On both visits, the diner was being run by a friendly, chatty Polish lady and a quieter, younger lady who I guessed was her daughter. The pair know exactly what they 're doing. They cook the food in full view on a large griddle. And they get the timing right, so the eggs come up perfect, which is quite a skill when you 're also doing pancakes, home-made hash browns, etc. Everything 's cooked freshly--no dried tomatoes or shrivelled mushrooms here. For the breakfast, I had the Badass . Two fried eggs nicely griddle-crisped round the edges; two outstanding rashers of bacon; two long, thin Polish sausages; mushrooms; an unusual cone of griddle-browned, shredded potato; two pancakes; and a phial of maple syrup. (And orange juice if I 'd wanted it. All cooked and set on the table super quick. Plus a decent pot of tea. My second visit, I had a cheese-and-tomato omelette. The substantial omelette was folded oblong, with square ends like a wrap. Where some omelettes are quite choppy in texture, this one was smooth and browned, done like a pancake on the griddle. Plus salad and a pot of tea which gave two cups. Great stuff. The spotless diner is decorated as such, like something from the 1950s American Midwest, with a lively, bright colour scheme, so a visit is a visual, asthetic experience as well as a dining pleasure. Good value as well. Much love to the Warsaw Diner. Will be back."

"We had a fab fab meal here following a very kind invitation from Paul. Also a huge shout out to Agnes, you are a credit to the team here your recommendations were spot on every time!! For starters we had calamari scallops with black pudding. I’ve always thought I wasn’t a fan of black pudding but it would appear I have been wrong for years this starter has won me over. The scallops were velvety melt in the mouth. The calamari has reinstated my husband’s faith in the dish as he’s had some underwhelming ones recently he couldn’t stop raving about it. I had to order the Sunday lunch went with the trio. Tim was keen to try the fillet steak Agnes recommended going for the one with garlic prawns which was a great shout really elevated the plate. He opted for the smooth creamy mash which they kindly sorted, as this usually comes with chips what we have dubbed the ‘stairway’ to heaven onion rings which got inhaled, they were crispy but not greasy. My Sunday lunch was a treat I thoroughly enjoyed every element on the plate, all the meats were cooked beautifully. The beef was pink, just how I like it. I was gutted they’d run out of cauliflower cheese but I imagine that would have tasted incredible. We were seriously impressed with the fillet steak, this was cooked rare it was the best that we’ve had in a long time. These guys know their meat they’re not messing around. You’ll be hard pressed to find better!! We shared a sticky toffee for dessert this was drowning in butterscotch sauce which I couldn’t get enough of! The martinis were a perfect end to our meal the barman has got skills! We also had a cheeky flutter in the casino afterwards managed to come out £40 up! Bonus! Overall we would 100% recommend this place, we really loved our experience genuinely the food was top notch. Thanks again for having us we will be back, just not years later this time "
