"My partner and I arrived at Poule au Pot no more than a minute or two late for a 9:00 p.m. reservation that had been made through the restaurant 's online reservation system almost a month in advance. Upon arriving and greeting the host and mentioning our reservation in French, Thomas , responded to us in English that he did not have a reservation for us. When I showed him the confirmation email, he pointed at the date on the email that notes when the reservation was made and insisted that was the date of our reservation and that we had made a mistake. While my French is bad, it isn 't that bad, and I pointed to the proper date for our reservation noted on the email. Once I did that, he insisted that I had not clicked the Confirmer Ma Reservation link in the email and that our reservation had been canceled. He tried to prove the point by having me click on the link while in the restaurant. When I did so, the reservation website brought up an Authorisation refusee message that the host used as justification for saying that we didn 't have a reservation. The problem? Since it was now a few minutes (no more than five) after our reservation time, this is the message that the website displays whether or not a reservation has been confirmed. I know that I had confirmed the reservation promptly a few days earlier, but since the reservation system doesn 't generate confirmation emails, there was no way of proving it. When I asked if we could be accommodated anyway, noting a few empty tables in the restaurant, we were told that they were booked for the night. I then asked if it would be possible to make a reservation in the next few days. Thomas was completely unhelpful, refusing to look up availability and only gave us the restaurant 's card and told us that they might have availability tomorrow or Monday and to call and ask for him. We then left annoyed by the situation but me mostly mad at myself that I had somehow made a mistake in booking and confirming the reservation. About 15 minutes later we arrived back at our hotel room, at which point the anger at myself shifted to the restaurant and the host, Thomas . In looking online to see if another reservation was available during the remainder of our stay in Paris, I discovered that there was a 9:30 p.m. reservation available that evening, so the host 's insistence that the restaurant was booked for the night was a lie. Furthermore, I discovered that the restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays the two days that the host told us that the restaurant may have availability. Since the two of us arrived on time for the reservation, were dressed in a manner and style similar to the other diners, greeted the host in French, and were polite during the entire interaction, it is difficult to come to the conclusion that we were turned away and treated as we were for any other reason than we were a gay couple. I would recommend that any LGBT person who wishes to dine at this restaurant to do so only with the expectation of the possibility of being refused service, and a backup reservation at another establishment in place."

"in one word: had a kirin, the tempura moriawase and a katsudon. kirin was cold, the tempura was excellent, the katsudon was salted (which was sad because he had everything else for him). wonderful to see clean kitchen, efficient and nice service. I'd go back to taste the udon. outside the shell: I went to dinner on Monday. near the beginning of the dinner service (19:00.) was sitting immediately, there was a short queue when I left the restaurant. There was a kirin, a moriawase tempura and a katsudon. edamame (free!) served quickly and a cold and nicely poured kirin. The tempura was wonderful. the presentation, taste, assortment of vegetables, the quantity corresponded to what was expected (taking into account the neighborhood and the price) and were delicious. judicious presentation of accompaniments of dip sauce with ground daikon, garnished with some ginger and tender green onions. No taste of oil, no oil bottle left on the top. so tasty and crispy that I swallowed the tails of shrimp with delight (I usually don't do it if I feel I'm going to chew them forever.) the only reproach I have to do about the tempura is that the dip was a little too concentrated and so salted. I'm the kind to soak when it comes to tempura. I love the tempura bite slightly debridled with a tasty but always crispy sauce dipped a second in the tempura sauce. I just immersed a little less with enthusiasm and the problem was solved here. katsudon, however, was a bit disappointing. everything in its parts was excellent and thoughtful: the rice was well cooked and the pickles that accompanied it placed next to the dish were well made and a tasty contrast. The egg was perfectly cooked and cooked in the heat of the dish and the onions were finely sliced but still had biting. But overall, it was too salty. I like salt. I think salt repairs almost everything that tastes not good. But the katsudon was really very salty. the katsu dressing was pre-seasoned, the pig himself was pre-seasoned (too good, I think. too seasoned meat could be the main culprit here.) all stages are nice and careful. but the combination of well-seasoned meat and a well-seasoned panure gave a katsu too salty for this sapple-phile! the strong point here is that the soy sauce that was in the katsudon was also salted (a little reminiscent of this concentrated tempura sauce!) but unfortunately, they are famous for their udon (but it was a sort of katsudon day, you know?), so maybe I got wrong. I should come back to taste their udon. four stars because everything is already there: quality, careful and efficient kitchen (but not pressed) and friendly service. and a clean kitchen. Yes. They just need to relax a little with the salt."

"we were guests of this magnificent restaurant on Saturday, August 19. I declare that the place is one of the most characteristic and picturesque ones I've ever seen. red velvet sofas and dark wooden tables. we had reserved because of the high affluence that frequents the place, Paris and not. the owner, a nice and very helpful lady, welcomed us. Obviously we couldn't start our dinner with 12 exquisite snails out of 3, we chose to opt for this "aperitive" solution because two out of three had never tasted this greed! We immediately regretted it. Then, a high quality beef tartar (150gr of meat) was ordered which was prepared and seasoned to perfection at the table by the waitress. we then chose to taste the chicken with the tarragon served with black rice, a real delight! It's true that the appetite comes by eating but it didn't miss us from the start, so we also wanted to taste a nice slice of simmered pork breast. I must say remarkable!! Finally, desserts left us without a voice. with the coffee we brought a dish full of mini- pastries matching the house (all the good typical things), instead of the sorbet we were recommended a smoothie with grapefruit and aloe really refreshing and we couldn't miss to taste the very famous French lemon pie! We were really happy and satisfied. the environment, the food and the air you breathe are really inimitable! See it!"

"PLEASE BE WARNED: Many of the pictures on the website and on trip advisor ARE NOT GENUINE and do not represent what this dive of a restaurant actually looks like. The only reason I can fathom as to how this restaurant has gained any good reviews is purely by accident- This restaurant is situated just across the road from the Michelin star restaurant named "restaurant du palais royal". I can only think any of the reviews higher than 2 star must have been incorrectly posted by customers or the genuine Michelin star restaurant and this restaurant has shamelessly used its similar name to boost its reviews. My wife booked this restaurant after seeing it was a centre of excellence but what a let down it was.We went on a Saturday evening at 8pm and there was one other family at the restaurant. Carol Sinclair- a tired looking woman in crocs and a speedo swimsuit was sat reading her book next to the dirty fish tank and was the only staff member present. How she was going to prepare some of her excellent food whilst waiting on customers I do not know but we never actually ordered to find out.She offered us a free appetizer which was some stale bread with disgusting pate. My wife took one bite and left hers, I wanted to do the same but out of courtesy braved the second mouthful. We ordered drinks- a small beer and a wine then read the menu. The prices were around 25-30 euros for the mains and we knew that there were hundreds of nicer places in Paris where we could enjoy a nice meal for this price so we decided to leave. When we went to pay we were charged 17 euros for a small beer and small wine that my wife didn't even finish it tasted so horrible. We left the restaurant feeling robbed and I hope this review will put you off going because honestly if you go you will regret it! I am not one for leaving bad reviews but I felt I had to in this instance."
