"My Mother had her 80th Birthday meal at the restaurant last night and I had to write a review as she had the most incredible time surrounded by all her friends! They have all commented how fabulous the food was and we were able to organise everything with the help of the quite frankly brilliant staff. It’s a little gem of a bistro where the food, drink and welcome are of a very high standard. Thank you so much to the staff who made it such a special night and I would recommend anyone to book a table there for a celebration or just a lovely meal"

"As usual High Street Social never disappoints. Whether it be from the friendly faces of Jack, Lydia, Lynda and the rest of the team to the superb food cooked by Shannon and Sophie. This week we had specials on offer which included Stilton and Steak...pie which was superb as well as the usual fayre for HSS. I should say that the term usual may be the norm for HSS but it is unusual to have such lovely food in a small valley town. There are other places within Treorchy with their own cuisine and offerings but none beats High Street Social. Beautiful food, good value for the quality of the food you get and superb service."

"Ordered for delivery and was told 1 hour and 10 mins due to traffic which is fine. We waited an hour and 20 minutes and nothing, phoned and was told he’s on the way. We live 10 mins away. Another 15 mins and nothing so phoned again and told there was traffic bearing in mind we’d ordered another take away which had already arrived and been eaten by this point. 2 hours later this turned up so didn’t even bother as everyone else had eaten. Will not order here again, shocking service and the guy on the phone couldn’t care less"

"Located in the heart of Treorchy's award winning High Steet the Thai Sky is an authentic Thai restaurant and Take Away which has been established for a number of years and has several Trip Advisor Certificates of Excellence. There is a wonderfully warm ambience and...and a lovely comfortable dining area and the hosts Choo and Leighton provide a a fantastically warm and friendly service and Choo prides herself on using only the very freshest ingredients with meals being cooked to order. Meals have to be preordered by request and are then cooked freshly which ensures ultimate freshness The restaurant is fully licensed and also caters for children. At the moment the restaurant itself is closed due to the Covid restrictions but is providing a full take away service which must be pre-ordered and collected with meals being of the same superb delicious and fresh quality . Meals can be ordered by telephone and there is a full menu available on the website We recently used the take away service and had as a starter a Mixed Thai Sky Platter followed by a Thai Green Chicken Curry , a Beef Thai Jungle Curry , a Sizzling Chicken Stir Fry a Chicken Pad Thai and a Pork Pad Thai We can honestly say that the entire meal was superbly fresh and absolutely mouth wateringly delicious Hopefully the restaurant itself will be able reopen soon as and when the restrictions are eased lifted. We simply cannot recommend the Thai Sky highly enough and we are looking forward to enjoying another fantastic meal soon Thank you Shoo and Leighton for a superb meal and we look forward to seeing you again soon. "I love this place. They have doorstep bread perfect with their delicious, freshly cooked breakfasts, with something for everyone. I have the slimmers breakfast which is sun free, on slimming world! Result! Their freshly made cakes are unreal, with lemon drizzle, carrot cake and chocolate fudge cake, to name but a few. You can pre book afternoon tea, here (there is seating upstairs, if they’re full downstairs they’re popular and people come from miles around for the friendly greetings and delicious food . They’re making cheesecake filled Easter eggs at the moment and the only disappointment is they aren’t syn free, too! A great range of coffees and milkshakes. My personal (non dieting! favourite is chips with their huuuge slices of bread. My mouth is watering, at the thought! If your calorie intake doesn’t quite stretch to chips, try their jacket potatoes, served with salad they’ll keep you full for a week! (Ok so that’s an exaggeration but they are huge and honestly amazing!"

"Went to the Ivor arms for Sunday lunch. It was recommended to me. Arrived at 13:55 for our table which was booked for 14:00. We were asked to order our drinks at the table as it would be quicker. After 40 mins someone took our drink and food order. My daughters starter came out 10 mins later. Our drinks didn’t come for another 30mins. After 1hr 30 mins we still hadn’t received our lunch, so I asked about it. I was told we had to wait as we had ordered one starter . When our meals came we asked for mint and apple sauce which never came. The waitresses were running around and were obviously very short staffed. Wouldn’t go again and wouldn’t recommend."

"Food was great and the staff was very lovely and accommodating. However we felt like the land lady was trying to rush us out the door and was impatient when my elderly parents took a while to order. Which was a shock because the resteraunt was basically empty. Didnt know it was the land lady at the time, but we asked a waitress who she was after our meal and she told us that she was the land lady. Other staff were lovely, but the attitude of the manager was disgusting. Don't know if we'll be back again which is a shame because the food was fantastic."

"My wife and I booked a table at the Cinnamon Tree on Tuesday for the Sunday early evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I checked their web site first before booking as the actual date was on the Monday. Finding out that they did not...open on Mondays we opted for the Sunday. I telephoned the restaurant and made the booking. the person on the other end of the telephone repeated my details and time date ect. We turned up at the restaurant to fined it was closed with a sign on the door stating that they did not open on Sundays and Mondays. We got back in the car and went to turn around at the back of the restaurant and I saw a door at the back of the restaurant open. I stopped the car and went to the door and found someone in the kitchen. I told them that I had booked a table for that night and he confirmed what we had found out with the notes on the door. He then telephoned the owners of the restaurant and he put me on the telephone and I spoke to the owners partner and she said they have not been open for several weeks owing to staff shortages. I asked the lady why the booking had been taken as the staff must be aware of when the restaurant is closed or open and I had gone by their web site. She replied we haven't bothered to up date our web site and will not be doing so and have not bothered to blank out Sundays on the book were the reservations are written in and just blamed the person that took the booking in the first place. Her attitude was I couldn't care less. At this point I was boiling as I have used the Cinnamon Tree for many years and have always had a good meal there. But after this episode they can go to hell I will never go there again."

"I have frequented this pub on multiple occasions during the week and for Sunday lunch, and the food is consistently fantastic with generous portions. The pricing offers great value for money. However, it can be a challenge to grab the staff's attention at the bar when it is busy with customers sitting there. I understand the appeal of sitting at the bar, but during crowded weekends, I believe customers should be encouraged to keep the area clear since it is small. Despite this minor issue, it will not deter me from coming back to this establishment."

"The pasta dish I had with shin beef was totally tasteless lacked salt pepper herbs garlic my partner had pizza that looked cooked but was not crispy on the bottom had to eat it with a knife fork as if it was picked up as it is meant to be eaten you would have been wearing in don't bother save your money go to the worst chippy you can find we were in 30mins in that time we got served drinks ordered served food eaten paid left this is fast food on an expensive level"

"1st time at Dottys today even though I have friends who have been there lots. When you walk it it is a little like a café. Clean and average BUT the service was so so friendly, we had afternoon tea which was really lovely, plentiful and amples of tea/coffee. The lady even went out of her way to accommodate a baby that was with us. Yes its not the most spectacular tea room but the food and the service definatley make up for that. Will be back"

"Today, we went to the pub for lunch. It is a charming country pub with a warm welcome. We ordered a prawn baguette with sides and a vegetarian burger, both of which were delicious. The portions were so generous that we couldn't finish them, especially considering the exceptional value for the price. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. We enjoyed our visit so much that we booked a party of 12 for a future visit. Thank you, we can't wait to come back again."

"I have ordered for delivery from here before and not been disappointed, however, tonight was a different matter. Staff were very friendly both on the phone and delivering. I ordered the mushroom bhaji main and unfortunately it was inedible. It smelt off and tasted off too. The lamb tikka was chewy, where on previous occasions it has been amazing. Naan arrived cold, onion rice was nice. They also added to the overall price of what I had ordered, totalling myself my order came to £18.15 going off their physical menu, they charged me £20. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but still, stick to the prices on your menu especially when you only take cash on delivery. I won't be ordering again."

"A little treat for a birthday. Greeted with professional and friendly waiter. Brought a carafe of water without needing to ask. Choice of 3 starters and desserts and 4 mains. The rump of lamb served med/rare to perfection. The faggot was the nicest I have ever had and my mother in law had cod loin which fell apart. My husband was brought the wrong starter but they told him he was welcome to eat it AND have the one he ordered. He had the duck for his main and it was lovely though I prefer it pink. The wine was just over £3 A glass and the 3 course meal £14.50 each. By far the best food around and you cannot fine dine for that price anywhere..my 4th visit!"

"Really enjoyed food at the crispy cod today, it was just what we needed. My mum been off her food a little and this definitely helped her appetite, we all had the Hake and it was beautiful. We will be back. If I could give any constructive comments it would just be it was a little bit cold in the restaurant. Note to owner I really think something could be done on your website to promote the DINE IN as it is not that obvious unless you already knew like we did. I can't understand how with such beautiful food being served and we were the only people sitting in, people are missing out. Probably the only other small negative thing would be we couldn't have a hot drink as the drinks machine was broken and they don't own a kettle, I did find that strange, sorry. Will definitely be back though, we wouldn't let that stop us."

"We have had Sunday lunch hear previously and a bar meal last weekend. On both occasions we enjoyed the food and service. Therefore we decided to book Sunday lunch and invited my Dad. On arrival we were surprised that it was not to busy and there were plenty of free tables. Our drinks order was taken and then our food. Not too complicated; two lamb and one Beef. One of the drinks orders arrived incomplete, but was corrected quickly (we should have sensed the what was to come). Food soon arrived and plates containing meat/roast potatoes/Yorkshire pudding were placed in front of us. We filled our plates with the shared veg and gravy. We then noticed that I did not have a stuffing ball and the others no Yorkshire Pudding! We complained and these items arrived soon after. I was only then that I tried the lamb, only to find it was beef! My Dad then said his beef tasted odd, yes it was lamb! We were offered a new meal each, but to be honest this would have left us eating at different times. My Dad was given a microwaved piece of beef. He could not chew this as it was dry and tough. Throughout the whole time we were left feeling like they did not really care. We were then presented with a bill for two lamb and one beef! Again this seemed to pass them by. Overall really disappointing considering good previous visits. Also no track and trace information was taken."

"After moving from Cardiff to Church Village, we had a tough job to find a new Indian takeaway that would top our previous favourite, Baba's. We like a proper Indian, beyond a basic korma or tikka. Ordered from Bombay Blue with a local friend who recommended it... And this is now the top of our list! Bombay Blue has some excellent options; I'd never tried a Goan Fish Curry before but it's now one of my favourites! Mildly spicy, flavourful, and a bit different. We also ordered Palak Paneer, not realising it's not actually on the menu.... They made it for us anyway! Their bhajis are to die for, too. Third time ordering from them tonight, and I definitely won't go anywhere else now. Delivery time is a little longer than some others, but very much worth the wait because the food is fresh, hot and delicious."

"Came for midweek sit down meal a couple of days ago. Walked into an empty restaurant but asked to sit in takeaway area whilst waiters idly chatted and showed little interest. Waiter assigned to us was pretty blunt, no customer care as such. Food was ok, poppadoms felt and tasted a little stale but mains were OK Beer was cold which was a bonus, coke was flat. Disappointed as good reviews and always had a decent takeaway service"

"Earlier this year I met up with my cousin who was home from Spain. We both ordered the fish and chips, which were homemade and cooked perfectly. The portion sizes were great and our meals were very reasonably priced. We were met by a lovely member of staff who had a smile for everyone. Several weeks later I returned with my partner, son and both sets of parents. My parents both had the homemade chicken curry served with rice, chips, a poppadom and chutney. I had the chicken burger with chunky chips, my partner had the mixed grill (chicken breast, sausage, steak, prawns, chips, peas and onion rings). My partners parents both chose fish and chips. There was a children's menu and our son had gujons, chips and beans. The meals were fantastic value for money and the mixed grill was enormous. The family friendly pub was very relaxed with a down to earth feeling. We can't wait to return again soon."
