"Arrived, waited to be greeted then taken to our table which was down stairs and in the furthest part of a very quite pub. After some time of no approach from staff, decided to go and fetch our first round of drinks from the bar. 10 min later had to return to bar to request menus. No body came over so went back to bar to get more drinks and request some service. Starter came then a significant time after main meals which were average quality and pricey £28 for steak, £19 for fish and chips. Plates left on our table. Another group came and sat next to us. They were offered drinks immediately, orders for food taken promptly, returned to confirm their orders. Shouted across to us that they would clear our plates that had now been on our table for 10/15 mins once they had returned with more drinks for the other table. Unbelievably rude. Can only presume service was better for larger party, local people, unsure. When spoke to manager he said it was because they were short staff but we pointed out how attentive he had been with other table. He said he had come over to our table in the early stages, we reminded him it was only to request we put wood on the fire He apologised and said he would discount our meal which he did. We still had to pay £85 for an extremely disappointing evening. It was such a shame because we had come after being recommended by a friend Parking: Difficult to find space"

"We stayed for a week in the Tawny cottage. From pre arrival we had great communication and help with our booking. On arrival the cottage is gorgeous three large bedrooms with en-suites. A cosy living area with kitchen and dining. Everywhere was designed to give a luxurious feel ! The hot tub was amazing lights speakers and more jets and water features than ever had at previous lodges and cottages. It had everything you could need for a comfortable stay and views opened out to see surrounding fields. We had takeaway pizza and Greek food from the street food vans and a drink in the pub. We also had two amazing meals the Mussel Burger, Chicken Supreme and Thai green curry were amazing ! Service was great and all the staff were friendly helpful. It had a lovely atmosphere and dog friendly. It’s such a relaxed area and full of charm. From the cottage there are fantastic cliff costal walks. We walked to Bovisand beach and along to Jenny Cliff then another day we walked from Bovisand to Haybrook bay and back. We also did Wembury point to Wembury beach then back to Haybrook. Great walks and views on the doorstop. On a rainy day we visited Plymouth and visited Barbican area for a meal. Then once the rain cleared a circular walk to the Hoe and lido and back to the harbour. Would recommend a trip to Dartmouth great views, lovely shops and great atmosphere at the food festival. We used the park ride and also walked to the castle. First time to South Devon and it had everything for a fantastic holiday would definitely recommend. Thankyou Lou and all at Mussel Inn."

"Christmas Party with Theatre group from Ivybridge, 23 of us in total and staff had absolutely no trouble what so ever dealing with such a large group. From moment walked in the door staff were friendly and welcoming both the girls on the bar serving and the other staff attending to other clients. everyone friendly, smiling and saying 'hello, welcome ' etc. When entire party had gathered and mingled for a bit in the bar area we were lead to private upstairs function room and met simple but nicely decorated Christmas table with crackers. Meal was booked for 7.30pm and bang on 7.30pm the Starters came up the stairs and were served. I had the Baked Goats Cheese Fresh Fig Pine Nuts Crostini Toast Starter. Very generous portion of Goats cheese, warm and easily spreadable on the Crostini Toast and plenty left to eat along with the side salad. Toast was perhaps a little tough/over done but still a very enjoyable Starter. Tables quickly cleared after everyone had finished starters as well as clearing up some of mess from crackers and games we had bung. Traditional Roast Devon Turkey Festive Garnish Roast Gravy for mains. Again a very nice meal and very generous portions of food. plenty of turkey and veg pots of two to share amongst our selves but was more than enough for everyone. Cheese and Biscuits desserts. Nice sizes of the 3 traditional Cheeses (Cheddar, Brie and Stilton but think general consensus amongst myself and others was could of done with more biscuits as only 3 wasn 't enough for the cheese sizes, though its better to have more cheese and less biscuit than other way around. Tea, Coffee and Mince pies offered and served to finish off After meal there was a disco downstairs for us for choose who wished to partake but those who didn 't could still stay upstairs and chat so perfect for everyone and didn 't have to worry about belongings on dance floor as safe in private room. All in all the perfect venue for the perfect Christmas party. God bless us, everyone :"
