"We stopped in Grantham feeling hungry on a Sunday morning during a long drive up the A1 and struggled to find any open restaurants. Then we saw COSY CORNER CAFE, which didn't look very impressive from the outside but had an Open sign in the window. The 1950s boarding house decor may not have been appealing, but it had a cozy and unpretentious vibe. The tables and chairs were sturdy and not crowded. A few other customers were already inside, but they didn't give us any strange looks or mutterings. The waitress, who appeared from another room, was quick to take our order and very friendly. We mainly stopped in to use the restroom and grab a cup of tea, but decided to take a chance on the food. And it was definitely worth it. I ordered a full English breakfast, which was reasonably priced at around £6 including extra toast. The menu offered traditional British dishes and welcomed substitutions. My wife initially wasn't planning to eat, but after seeing another customer enjoying a roast dinner at 10.30am, she decided to order one as well. The roast beef was perfectly cooked and served with roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, carrots, and leeks for £6. We enjoyed a large pot of tea, which was promptly refilled upon request. The reason I am sharing this review on Tripadvisor is because this meal was truly one of the best I've ever had outside of my own home. The food was top-notch, with quality ingredients, well-prepared and presented, and served with genuine hospitality. It's evident that this cafe is a family-run business, which is reflected in the exceptional food and service. I will definitely be making a point to stop at Grantham on my next drive down the A1."

"I visited this tea room recently, along with 4, others a small baby I have been visiting this tea room since it first opened back in the 90’s periodically, and have always found it reasonably priced, warm welcoming. I visited when I had young children a buggy. On my 3 friends arriving they were told that their buggy had to be left outside due to the lack of room. I myself was a little horrified as the pavement outside and street, are very narrow and would be obstructing the path for pedestrians. Also, I know what my friend paid for hers. You may’ve left them outside in the 60’s/70’s but not in this day and age! But there was no alternative inside to accommodate their baby, no highchair was available. I was extremely embarrassed as I’d been wanting to take my Brazilian daughter in law for some time when she was over had been telling her how lovely it was, as she loves ‘vintage.’ Although I do feel that the vintage ambience has been spoilt a little by the current owners. It is very freshly painted and meticulously clean however but very sparse and lacks vintage detail, bric- a- brac etc. which was always a lovely feature by the previous owners. Myself and my daughter in law had the afternoon tea which was very nice, freshly baked cakes scones and pots of tea. The price was average for an afternoon tea My friends had chosen off the lunchtime menu which was jacket potatoes etc. but some of it wasn’t available, or they had run out of it. However, this reception completely spoilt it for me and I’m very sorry to say that I shall not be returning to this tearoom. Can I suggest that you either provide a small high chair, that doesn't take up much room or advertise that your tearoom isn’t baby/child friendly."
