"This has been an enormously successful restaurant over a number of years and is mentioned in the Michelin guide for the quality of its food. The experience is enhanced by the feeling that you have been invited to a private dinner party and the dining room is very personal to the owners. I liked the modest sense of theatre about the whole evening and the welcome was warm and service very attentive without being over-bearing. The food is very accomplished and the only small criticism I would have is that if you only offer two main courses then it is unwise to wince if a guest wants the meat cooked to their taste and not the chef's. It was done perfectly as requested. We were being treated to this meal so I cannot say how much per head with wine and aperitif you would have to allow but my suggestion is around £70 a head. If you are expecting a complete knock-out meal at this price then I think you may be disappointed. If you want something slightly unique then I think the cost is reasonable for the high standard you get."

A visit to Harry’s is a unique experience. Delicious food, served with love in a cosy and charming setting. No razzmatazz or gimmicks, just excellent, tasty food, prepared with skill and care. A real treat. Recommended.

I've been dining at Harry’s place for 20 years, and I consistently enjoy delicious food, a great selection of wines, and a warm welcome. It's a shame it's 80 miles from home, or we would visit more often. - Service: Dine-in - Meal type: Dinner - Price per person: £70–80 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Ranked #10 in the Sunday Times Best 100 Restaurants of 2015, this restaurant is famous for its signature dish: Caramel mousse brûlée with wild blackberries. The skilled chefs responsible for this delectable creation are Harry and Caroline Hallam. On average, guests can anticipate spending approximately £82 per person.

We have been dining at Harry's Place every year since 2003, and it has always been a special occasion for us, our friends, and family. We are already looking forward to 2023. We would love to visit more frequently, but it is quite a distance from our home. The food and wine are delicious, and the atmosphere is always inviting. Speisekarte ansehen

A great concept, but we might not have experienced it at its best since we were the only customers there. There was no sign of Harry, which was disappointing. The food was decent, featuring good ingredients and some unique sauces, and the wine selection was impressive. Overall, though, it was underwhelming—fine dining prices but certainly not a fine dining experience.

Harry's Place is a small, intimate dining experience. Run by a married couple, handwritten menus with a choice of two dishes for each course; top quality ingredients and cooking skill grounded in classical French cooking with seasonal British produce. Yes, it's pricey, and the feeling of being in someone's dining room will not be to everyone's taste so go somewhere else, it works for us!

We come to Harrys 4/5 times a year. Every time it’s never less than historic. The soups are always mouth watering, the beef the best ever and The prune and Armagnac Ice cream to die for. Everyone we’ve taken there absolutely loves it. We recently took some Canadian friends there who said it was quintessentially English. I agree. We are foodies and eat in a range of restaurants including 2/3 Michelin star in the Uk and beyond but Harrys is our favourite in the world. Yes it’s different, quirky, limited menu but it’s consistently brilliant and Caroline and Harry wonderful, interesting and good humoured hosts. And I’m picky !!!! Speisekarte ansehen

We have been visiting Harry's Place for over twenty years and in that time it has hardly changed and the standard of the food has never been less than first class. The fact that there is normally only a choice of two starters, two mains and two desserts is perhaps a problem for some, but it is the only way to maintain Harry's very high standards in such a small establishment. The food is very seasonal and Harry and Caroline take great care in the sourcing of the best ingredients. On a typical evening midweek there may be only one other table of diners and if you prefer a place that is buzzing with activity and loud music , you might be better off somewhere else. But if you enjoy good food in...

This restaurant offers a rare and exquisite dining experience that has never been matched in our years of eating out. Even just looking at the menu is a delight. Our taste buds are already excited for the amazing meal ahead. We have been to this restaurant several times over the years and have always been impressed. The menu is small but offers a perfect balance of choices for gourmet dining. The wine list by the glass is also excellent, ensuring that each course can be perfectly complemented. We started with champagne and the meal only got better from there. The intimate setting adds to the overall experience. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Grantham, but be sure to b...

"The Stag Inn is a delightful looking pub overlooking the small green in the village of Barkston near Grantham. Internally the pub is clean and tidy with a range of two and four seater tables with New England shades of light blue on the painted table legs in the restaurant area. We didn’t venture into the pub side so can’t vouch for the decor in there. We arrived unannounced just after opening time of 12 and were offered a table with no difficulty. There was a menu of the usual offerings of fish and chips and a range of burgers together with roast salmon, chargrilled pork chop, a leek and cauliflower cheese pot pie, ham egg and chips and a vegetable lasagne amongst others. A specials chalkboard hung on the far wall and the crab and prawn salad with Mediterranean bread sounded so good we both opted for it. That was a mistake as we were to find out. The meals were reasonably quick to arrive and were served up in two large bowls with a dusting of paprika round the edges. What hit me immediately was the large flaccid green lettuce leaf draped over the edge of the bowl, together with a whole half-a-lemon that we each had. A small wedge would be perfect. The bread tasted sweet and was as far from the Mediterranean as it could possibly be apart from the occasional input of sundried tomato. What irked me most though was that the bread was delivered up pre-buttered with what looked like some bright yellow catering spread. A small ramakin of real butter between the two of us would work so much better. When asked if everything was okay I mentioned this and was told that chef would be informed. Having said all that the crab and prawn salad was full of flavour and sat on a nice mixed salad of red peppers, lettuce, red onion and cornichons. A word of advice to the wise….. don’t sit at the table near the restaurant counter as this is where the pub’s phone is located. On at least two occasions the phone was left to ring unanswered by the staff, presumably as they were busy elsewhere (the pub was by no means full) and was right behind my head! The volume of the ringer was high and it would have been a more pleasant experience for us if, firstly, it was answered and, secondly, the volume was turned down. On the plus side the staff were polite and helpful but the food not so great."
