"I have reviewed The Tally Ho before and given it nearly top marks, but on this occasion I have to admit to being in a quandary. We went for a Saturday evening meal and were very excited by the menu....everything looked promising. The welcome was excellent and the staff really, really good knowledgable, helpful, polite, engaged. So, I hear you thinking what 's the problem? The food was presented in a very Michelin star style and was tasty BUT the size of the portions was truly tiny. The scallops starter £9.50) had 2 scallops on the plate and a tiny piece of bacon. The mains were also tiny, being a bit savvy we had asked for a side of new potatoes to compliment our meal. My Ricotta dumplings were nice but I had 3 about the size of a meatball), with a serving spoons worth of ratatouille underneath. My husbands Duo of Duck was also tiny but very tasty). We were sitting thinking we had stepped into a parallel universe as everything but the presentation of the food was very ordinary the cutlery was wrapped in cheap paper napkins and the pub is very much a pub, the facilities very much what we expect in a pub......so perhaps to sum up we would rather the food was really good pub food and portions to go with the really smashing pub. This place just doesn 't suit the style of food it was selling. But we have heard Pizza nights are epic so will try again. We can 't fault the staff and food just the eye watering price for what we actually ate!!"

"We met friends at The Boot Inn on a Friday night, it was about half full. We arrived early, and were given a warm welcome by a lovely member of staff, who also offered us a drink at the bar, before showing us to our table. Our friends arrived about 20 minutes after us. So we had time to chat and enjoy our drinks before they arrived. After our friends arrived, we were offered the menus. The menu has a good selection of food, Asian cuisine and Burgers seem to feature in a big way on the menu. I had the Hummus and Olives to start £8) and the Crispy Mongolian Lamb to follow £18) I was expecting a small bowl with a selection of different olives. What I got was a small bowl of black olives, the type you buy already pitted in a jar of brine from Tesco… it was really disappointing to be honest and they aren’t the best, fine for the top of a pizza or salad, but not to eat as part of a starter. The hummus and bread was very nice. The Crispy Mongolian Lamb was was very nice to start with, BUT, by half way through the meal I was feeling that it was rather too crispy and chewy and was staring to become a chore to eat and felt that it was quite overdone/burnt rather than crispy. The sauce was very nice. The noodles that I had with my lamb were very nice, the portion size was good too. Now, one issue I do have is that it’s very dark in the restaurant, with very dim lighting, which means that it was difficult to actually see what was on the plate. My food was very dark, and it was served on a dark plate and with the low lighting, I really couldn’t see properly what I had been served or what I was eating. My friends all had burgers and all seemed happy with the food that they ordered. Good Suff Lovely staff, warm welcome, clean toilets, good portion sizes, prompt service, free parking. Room for improvement If you’re gonna charge £8 for a small bowl olives, you need to up the game and serve better olives and not cheap black olives from a jar. Make it a bit brighter inside the restaurant, I’d really like to see what I’m eating, and I’m sure I can’t be the only one who wants to see what’s on their plate. Itemised billing would be good. We received a hand written bill, and as we were splitting the bill with friends, it would have been easier to see all the purchase broken down rather than “Food”, “Drink” etc. It’s a nice place, with nice friendly staff, and it has a pleasant atmosphere. It’s not the cheapest place in town, but really worth a visit. I hope that the wages they pay their staff are reflected in the prices they charge for their food. I had a Sunday roast here a while back, and couldn’t fault that meal at all. Give it a go…"

"for the first time with the view of the examination of the opposite to visit stockbridge was pleasantly surprised, no real ground like the ambiente. parked in front of the three tassen, as it was the only space available and went for a walk along the high road. it was a very cool Sunday afternoon at 2.30 and the longer the walk went on the warm pub and a hot Sunday dinner beckoned. the three tassen have put the bill very warm, cozy and welcoming, although a little on the lower deck side: the three tassen it seemed served up to 15 o'clock and they had a table available for two so that we caught it and drink it over the check of the menu and drink. I went for the Roast pumpkin, while my better half decided for the Roast pot around £16 a head. my wife had an advertiser and I had a half a prise of a local brew that it called flower pot. the roasts were both excellent and regarding the amount, we were certainly not hungry. the kartoffels had already been one because clear and well cooked, but that was no problem at all, especially the cheese and lynx sauce and the huge yorkshire pud tasted. we shared a pudding, the orange pie', the fair was a mistake. it was not as sadly described by the waitress, but there they go, we will not decide again. had another half of flower pot and a coffee that totals just about £50 everything in. excellent value for money and certainly a place we would visit if in the opposite and would recommend."
