"We stayed in two beautiful rooms as very close to Benenden hospital for my daughter's surgery. The rooms were quiet, full of character and the beds so comfy. The tea tray a lovely addition. Most welcome to a stressful couple of days. The staff went above and beyond to help my daughter with her food and even supplying cushions on chairs. The breakfast fresh, quality ingredients and very plentiful in the lovely dining room. This charactful pub hotel is charming. A wonderful find that we will return to soon for another stay."

"Went for Sunday lunch with my wife and her very elderly Aunty. Lovely quaint old country pub (so obviously, disabled access not great, but staff quick to help). Given a nice table in the conservatory, which was fine until a large family with two babies took the table next door, then we couldn't make Aunty hear anything we shouted at her....the landlady was very understanding and (even though they were very busy) found us a quieter table inside. Sunday roasts were very nice, I had the mixed roast dinner, roast beef was best, next chicken, next pork, last lamb (a bit chewy). Roast potatoes and veg excellent. Portions of mint sauce were pretty meagre, no cranberry sauce for the chicken, you have to pay extra for more gravy. Pudding were good, massive piece of sticky toffee pudding. Service very good, didn't get rushed to finish. Would come again."

"They offered a full Sunday Carvery as well as a separate menu for those who preferred something else. The Friday menu included several specials and the homemade ribs were delicious. The Carvery was well portioned, with perfectly cooked meat and crispy roasties. The yorkies were absolutely divine. The non-Carvery menu was extensive without being overwhelming, and everyone enjoyed their choices on Friday. They also had a fish and chips style takeaway menu with delicious chip shop style chips. The restaurant had a lovely traditional interior, a good selection of beers, and great Covid awareness. The staff, especially a young man, were incredibly friendly and helpful. The Irish coffee was particularly delicious and helped with any post-wedding hangover. There was a lovely beer patio and outside tables, clean toilets, and a great atmosphere. I regretted not having any cash on me due to Covid, as I would have liked to leave a decent tip. I would definitely recommend this place for a casual drink, a meal, or anything in between. It's a great spot for families, couples, friends, or even solo diners."

"Have been here 3 times before and was disappointed with this visitation. We had to ask to put the heating up or to move seats as it was freezing cold inside, ended up wearing my coat inside. We had the tasting menu (which we've had before, hence why we came again) the portions were ridiculously small and even went to have a KFC afterwards as we weren't filled at all. The only two good portions were the beef dish and the rhubarb soufflé.... The rest...... C'mon chef.... What happened? What was most disappointing is the lady in the blazer and jacket who was obviously important,.asked us if there was any allergies or anything in the beginning and we said, please no beetroot...... Guess what appeared on our 2nd dish.... Beetroot. This place had always had a high status in my mind on customer service and attention to detail however the standards have seriously gone down as a simple request was completely ignored. Also the wine paring? Did you guys actually taste the wine with what was being served? Again we used to love the pairings and food it matched with but it's like no one gave it any thought. Now before you slate us completely we have both worked in restaurants ourselves before so understand everything that goes into it, but honestly was so so disappointed with this meal. The only good thing was the servers and their knowledge of the items being offered and with a smile. The rest..... Maybe just revisit the menu as I'm not sure what that haddock and raisin situation was. We got 20% discount which is basically just the servers tip? Correct me if wrong. If anything, I would've happily paid the servers their tip as they did a steller job. The food on the other hand was disappointing for a £400 meal and cheap wine. Won't be back as I was too embarrassed to even show my partner the food and wine it had to offer.... He said he's had better food in Mayfair for a similar price."

"The good news. The food is really good and rarely disappoints. Now the bad news based on last night and also several other recent visits. As customers you are invisible. Staff literally look through you when you wait at the door even when they are there next to you. Then getting attention is very difficult. Staff seem to be huddled in groups chatting. The gap between main courses being delivered is getting beyond a joke. Yes I know it’s all about getting food when it’s ready but most restaurants can cope with delivering orders from the same order at the same time, not half an hour apart. Beer was warm. A serious lack of veggie options on the menu not being available but only being told this until when we order. Just a half-hearted lame experience every time. For once I took the time to fill in the customer survey with this feedback. Reading other reviews seems like other customers have had the same experience. Does anyone actually bother to read or act on the reviews?"

"I met a family member yesterday (29/01/24) for lunch at this restaurant. It is in an ideal location, only a minute away from the station. The pub is clean and tidy, with well-maintained beer, delicious food, and friendly staff. The atmosphere during our Monday lunchtime visit was great. I highly recommend paying a visit."

"We ordered from Masala kitchen this evening after a Recommendation and we weren't disappointed! The food arrived hot and in plentiful supply. The delivery driver was a delightful gentleman and the gentleman who took our telephone order was a pleasure to speak to. All in all a great experience. My husband has tried many jalfrazies over the years and said this is one of the best he's had and my korma (I'm a spice light-weight man ! was delicious. Enough rice to feed an army and superbly done naan and onion bhaji were all added bonuses! We will definitely be ordering again!"

"We organised a special private party to celebrate the end of my husband's cancer treatment and to raise money for Myeloma UK. I cannot praise highly enough the team at the Grey Lady (the private venue of La Casa Vecchia). The organisation was flawless and flexible. Their PA system for the band is excellent so the sound was too. And our friends are still raving about the food. Their Mediterranean buffet was truly delicious and the quantities were extremely generous. It's a great place for a private event and, in The Pantiles, less than a ten minute walk from the station so very easy to get to, both from London and across Kent and Sussex. If I could give them six stars I would!"

"Four of us met here after a year of having not seen each other. Originally planning a brief cream tea, we were overwhelmed by the choices on the menu and instead all had a breakfast (the second for some of us that day! and of course indulged in a slice of cake too! The tea room is beautifully decorated, relaxed and friendly and the service was excellent. Three hours after arriving we just about managed to heave out our weightier bodies and started to arrange our next visit. Though we are all an hours drive from this team room, we will certainly be returning for more visits to try and work our way through the delicious menu!"

"I inquired about the Christmas Day menu and the price for a 2-year-old, only to be met with a response that none of the staff wanted to work on Christmas Day. I found this to be quite rude, considering I was simply asking about prices. During our meal, we found a long blonde hair in the kids' meal, hidden underneath the food. When we brought this to the attention of the manager, he seemed skeptical and questioned us about it. Despite none of the food being consumed, he agreed to replace the meal. However, my son's pizza had a soapy taste and the carvery meat was tough and fatty, making it inedible without a steak knife. We were told to provide more evidence if we didn't want to pay for the uneaten pizza. This was the worst meal we have ever had at this restaurant, despite being loyal customers for years. We will not be returning, as the manager displayed a poor attitude throughout our experience."

"We visited yesterday and I felt compelled to share my experience about the cheesy potato wedges. For the price of £2.95 I was served an old jacket potato that was sliced and crisped under the grill with microwave melted cheese all over it. The potato filling however remained as soft as it would have been in it's previous life. I'm all for not wasting food, but when customers are paying it needs to be what it says it is and in addition, needs to be edible.It was horrible. Unfortunately the queue was a huge line leading into the courtyard so it was nigh on impossible to return the food and receive a refund without spending 20+ minutes queuing all over again. I wanted to warn others though, if you're thinking of ordering it it....don't!"

"Visited on Saturday afternoon. Was wondering why it wasn 't overly busy when we arrived. Probably have established why. Before we entered there was a man smoking a cigarette beside us, smoke was blown right beside us, we went to enter Creams and he walked in ahead of us. I thought he was a customer, he worked there. No allowing Customers in first, he did. No evidence of immediate handwashing after he went behind the food counter either. I asked my wife if she wanted to leave, but the consensus was if he was scouping gelatio he 's not actually touching it. Placed our order, waiter was very confusing, to the degree my step-son ended up just ordering a Coke. Visited the loo, although the mirrors were very brilliant, the unisex toilet had all yellow staining around the seat. I went to pay, it was £56!! We were in a hurry as our car parking ticket was going to expire, so my wife checked the bill on our way home, it was wrong!! We had been charged for something we didn 't have... Unfortunately we will not be returning... 1. Questionable staff hand hygiene "

"A pub should serve its staple fare such as fish and chips, hamburgers, pies, bangers and mash etc very, very well. We ordered hamburgers and chips at The Duke of York. The chips were excellent. The hamburgers were awful. They were served lukewarm at best, overpowered with bacon jam so that the predominant flavour was acid and sugar, and cheese nowhere to be seen there was that little of it. But the worst was the meat patty. So hard, it could be used as a curling stone. My friend described it as “indescribably tight”. I had no words so let my actions speak instead and left three-quarters of it on the plate. Demolished the chips though. We debated whether or not to mention anything when we struggled through our first mouthfuls of the hamburger but decided against it. As mentioned above, if you’re a pub owner/pub chef/pub manager, you KNOW what you’re serving to your customers so why make me the bad guy and point out how bad your burger is? GBP18.50 for this sub-standard meal, btw."

"As a family of 5 we arrived without a booking on an already extremely busy day for the restaurant yet we were seated in less than a minute. The server took our order, again, very quickly and the food soon arrived soon and well presented. This was a very impressive and well organised effort by the team there. The staff were all very busy running about in all directions serving people as all tables were occupied in was it quite a large restaurant. Was asked several times if we needed anything else too which was nice. The food was delicious and well priced and as there was so much, they provided take away boxes so we could take home. As my mother has arthritis and cannot cut her food up easily which we mentioned, they even delivered her food already cut up which we didn’t ask for but very much appreciated. This is our second visit to the restaurant but we will be back again soon. Thank you everyone as S&W."

"Had recently seen posts on Facebook regarding this restaurant having new management and thought we'd pop in pre-film. Visited on Saturday night (7th May) with my family, booked a table well in advance, were greeted very nicely upon entry which always makes things a lot nicer. Upon seating we noticed that something wasn't quite right, the restaurant was pretty much full, the most full we've seen it in a long while to be honest, partway through us ordering our drinks the manager went into the kitchen we assumed to speak with his kitchen team, he didn't come back out through the duration of our meal. We could see the cooks trying their hardest and we knew that the wait on our food would be a while. Me and my daughter watched the cooks and observed the team, working in hospitality myself I am more aware, filling in for one another. The place where the manager was somebody had replaced, another manager was speaking to tables. In summary, we waited long, but we knew about it in advance, the food was good when it eventually came, the manager did come around towards the end of our meal and spoke to us at length regarding the issue that had led to the events and his honesty was refreshing, the team were obviously strained however there were still smiles, sounds of laughter, overall the service was great, food was good, communication was brilliant. The only negative was an older couple at the entrance being extremely rude when told they couldn't be seated, which the female manager dealt with very well may I add. Will return for sure. Well done!"
