"This is by far the best restaurant I've visited for a long time it's really up there. I enjoyed every minute of it and it really pushed the boundaries of what would seem like just a hotel restaurant. Just to make this clear from the off, this is a proper 3 course meal sit down restaurant and it will be expensive, so if you'd prefer a more relaxed meal that's not like that and you're staying at the hotel, try the menu for the Cedar Bar and Lounge, where you can get burgers etc. for a lower price. I ate here on the Friday night so the menu was the ordinary 3 course a la carte dining menu for dinners. We were acquainted with some drinks in the bar before ordering from the comfort of our own seats, and then escorted through. We had some light canapes but I didn't care for them, but others would have rated them: Canapes 7/10 The first amuse bouche was a Mushroom Cappuccino with pepper croutons accompanying it, it was very exquisitely presented, however the taste was slightly lacking flavour. Amuse Bouche 4/5 The second amuse bouche we were served was a bread basket. As far as bread baskets go, I'm not rating it because although it was fantastic, all restaurants that provide them are not going to do them badly, so... The starter, that we ordered and was not set and I went for the Hand Dived Orkney Scallops with chicken in pastry and celeriac. I myself don't eat scallops, but the rest of the meal was fantastic, and I know that the other starters my family had were absolutely great as well, and the choice of starters was extremely good and imaginative compared to conventional ones. Starter 10/10 We were soon with our chosen main course, which for me was venison as I am very partial as a meat eater. They balanced the 4 choices so that you could have different types of fish or different types of meat, and therefore you had 4 different but similar choices at the same time. So choice in comparison with presentation and taste of the venison (which was cooked medium by default and seasoned with ragout and garlic) Main 49/50 Between this course, we had a small passion fruit jelly with a sour creamy yogurt underneath and meringue on top. I thought it was very nice and not really much more to say about it. Third Amuse Bouche 4/5 The final course was chosen to make it that we were being given a balance of a set menu and choosing but it was available as a six course tasting menu for an extra charge. I really loved my chocolate ganache but was too full to finish it but it was extremely well presented and made from the first impressions. But, the reason why I could not finish was because it was very rich, but then I guess they should be. Dessert 18/20 Overall Score 94/100 A fantastic meal and would recommend it thoroughly. Just note that 3 courses are £62, 2 are £52, and drinks are not included. Also, children must be over 11 and there is no kid's menu although the portions could be smaller and certain extras or sauce could be changed slightly."

"We have visited the cricketers a number of times, as locals to the area. However the last couple of visits the Pizza has fallen way short of expectations, given that there is now a specialist Pizza kitchen, this is nothing short of disappointing. On todays visit, we were celebrating a birthday, and what we received was simply not acceptable. As a table of 8 adults, with an order of 6 pizza and 2 a la carte. The a la carte dishes were eaten before pizzas even arrived. The waitress explained they were busy, but at least 7/8 tables in the garden were not even occupied. When the pizzas arrived, those that had been ordered with extra toppings were served without said toppings, we returned them only to be re-served the same pizza now with raw extra topping, returned again, served again within seconds with same uncooked extra toppings, returned for the third time, one arrived, with extra topping re cooked. These Pizzas had now been in the oven 3 times! The second however was still incorrect, the waitress asked, what am I to say to the chef? As if it was our problem that what was being served was incorrect. We replied, nothing, it’s too late we no longer want it, everyone else has finished. My husband approached the manager, who immediately refunded said pizza, but he caveated the refund with, we have not had one complaint in 8 months! However, given it was 2 for 1 on pizza we actually gained nothing, in fact, the said pizza should have been free anyway! We were at the Cricketers for 2 hours and spent £200, it was our intention to stay all evening instead we left at 8.15 very disappointed. Whilst the manager said they had never received complaints, we witness several pizzas being returned. Please don’t try and defend bad service/food. Simply apologise . It ruined our evening and birthday celebrations, and sadly as locals we will not be back. A simple round of drinks on the house, a bottle of wine or anything actually, plus an acknowledgement that on this occasion you had got it wrong would have sufficed. Sadly today for the sake of a freshly cooked pizza with the correct toppings, you have lost our custom. A professional pizza chef should not keep putting a returned pizza back out to the customer. Sadly previous visits where we have eaten and drank as larger groups, ordered magnums of the recommended sparkling wine, will no longer happen. Customer Service costs nothing, unhappy customers cost a business way more that what they spend. Disappointed if Curdridge"

"Went to Josie's Winchester for the second time and we were happy with the experience. You cannot book for this restaurant, which is a shame, but still works anyway, and we turned up in the morning for a table for 2. We were seated straight away and the decor of the restaurant was lovely and welcoming, as were the staff. Once seated, we were given some menus to look at and the selection was lovely. There were all sorts of treats to choose from starters and mains to sweet and savoury. A true balanced menu for everyone! We chose between us, the full english breakfast, tater tots, biscoff milkshake, oreo pancakes and a tropical smoothie. I found everything to be excellent portion sizes and good value for what we paid. Oreo pancakes delicious, not sickly and really food flavour, straight down to the soft pancakes themselves! Tropical smoothie fresh and high quality taste. Full English breakfast excellent food and high quality ingredients with the replacement of mushroom to another sausage without charge! Tater tots never had these before and they were incredible! So tasty and will order them every single time. Biscoff Milkshake amazing flavour and also served with the rest of the milkshake they made! We managed to get around two and a half glasses worth of milkshake from the one metal container. Tasty food, friendly staff and speedy service too. Lovely restaurant serving up treats and using high quality ingredients. We will surely visit again some time in the near future. To improve, Josie's could offer sides with some of the mains making it easier to get a meal! Very happy and please see the photo below to see how yummy everything was."
