"Building decor is beautiful And staff look very professional. We were seated and given menus, then we felt like we had been forgotton about. It wasn’t too busy either. We managed to place our orders, but we were very unhappy to be immediately asked if we were to pay then or after. I have never known to be asked this quick before. Maybe so if it was a takeout option, but we were sitting in. Following on from this, we chose to pay then, but later when we left staff member ran to us across the courtyard asking if we had paid for a cake we asked to be taken away (which we did! . Although she was polite in asking we did feel a bit like we was being accused of stealing a slice of cake, when surely the bill evidently left on the table would show we had paid, and communication with staff would also proove this? We actually visited apley farm to see the animals and petting zoo. We asked staff about it and it was barked to us that ‘the animals aren’t here anymore ’ with no further information. I had to ask her as she was walking away what she meant, as this was the reason we arrived. After a quick google and Facebook search we found information about a lease ending or something. There is always 2 sides to a story but we think this is a absolute crying shame that it has closed down and had taken so much away from the area. On a positive note, the chocolate buttercream on the chocolate cake is the nicest I have ever tasted- absolutly to die for ! If I’m honest, due to staff treatment re payment of cake, and animals no longer in situ, I doubt we will be in a hurry to return."

Lovely food, spoilt by attitude of staff particularly when asked to pay immediately after ordering food which we had never been asked to do before at any restaurant, this really spoilt the atmosphere.

Just had an afternoon tea at Apley farm Kitchen. On arrival we were greeted with a smile and immediately shown to our table which was beautifully laid with pretty china. Our drinks arrived swiftly and then our tower of yummy goodies. These were admired and...

We went to Apley kitchen for afternoon tea which we had a voucher for that we had been brought for Christmas. I've been to alot of afternoon teas around England and this one by far was the best !! What made it even better was the staff so attentive and welcoming. Will definitely go back .

An alternative to the usual Hotel Style Afternoon Tea experience. A Farm Shop, Plant Sales and Animal Corner as well as a lovely Cafe. Service was a perfect balance of friendly and professional. Food was prompt and delicious, Sandwich fillings were generous and great that the accompaniments were separate. I have had a better scone elsewhere so that could be an area for improvement. Overall, we highly recommend Apley Farm.

Had an afternoon tea birthday gift for wife Having had a really tough 6 months ,we needed to switch off for an hour or so , we were made to feel so welcome by Janette and all of her team , all the team were very attentive, and lovely , food was also very good along with the service . Got a little emotional as we left , got hugs from staff , mainly due to a wonderful experience, I sought out Janette manager and congratulated her and asked her to say a big thankyou to everyone at Apley farm , will definitely be going back soon . Me and my other half decided we would eat here for lunch. We had a little look around the farmshop and made a few purchases. We entered the cafe and were greeted by a member of staff and taken to a table. The staff were lovely and attentive. The food was lovely and a good price. It was busy as it was a lovely day so expected a little wait... we didn't wait too long for our meals or our coffee and cake. It's so hard to get a good coffee these days but for an independent businesses their coffee was great. We will go again when we are in the area. Hats off to you all

We called into Apley Kitchen on Saturday 05.08.2023 whilst visiting our son and daughter-in-law and enjoyed a lovely lunch of ciabatta with either steak or chili chicken plus a fish finger sandwich, chunky chips, salad and coleslaw and a couple of slices of cake. We found the staff to be very welcoming and the food of a high standard although, perhaps, a couple of pounds over priced. The odd thing, which has been mentioned in other reviews, is the fact that you have to pay immediately when you order which does feel restrictive if there are any issues with your order or you want to order extra drinks or, in our case, the cake to follow That said, it was an enjoyable visit and we would return...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
