"My missus and I used to love this place, this is the 4th time we have had a poor experience, After 3 occasions of being served mediocre food we thought we would give it one last chance to see if things had changed, after queuing for 20 minutes we were sat down near where the counter is situated, I had asked when we where waiting could we be seated in the Orangery and as we were being ushered in I asked again and was abruptly 'told ' NO, cant you see we are very busy......well that just put a dampner on everything, there is no need to be rude, When ordering I asked for a couple of changes to my dish, that didnt go down well, when a waitress tuts at a paying customer that says it all, When my toasted sandwich came out promptly it was something you get out of a garage forecourt, actually it wasnt, a garage forecourt fayre is better, luke warm, limp and tasteless, I didnt even bother to complain, there wont be a 5th time, extremely expensive, pure execution and rude staff, Why would I go back? Very sad since this used to be the go place, not anymore."

Great food but the staff are seriously lacking. Zero attention to detail. When you consider the extortionate prices you expect top quality food but also good service and we didn’t get the latter. I got the impression we were an inconvenience. Won’t be back in a hurry.

Can't recommend this enough. There was a q to get in but didn't have to wait long even for a party of six. Had a few different things from the menu amongst us and they were all perfect. With 8 or 9 chefs and plenty of polite friendly staff the food came out very quickly. Definitely be returning

Excellent cafe/restaurant, food all fresh and very tasty, nice large chicken ceasar or seafood salads, we also had a fish and chip special main course which was fantastic and rounded off with a beautifully light Berry roulade with cream and ice cream, dont forget the small farm shop on way out, lovely homemade buns and lunches, all highly recommended

Not good for coeliacs people who require gluten-free options. They offer gluten-free bread but tell you that they can't guarantee there's no cross-contamination in the kitchen. So the only safe gluten-free foods are scones and tray bakes that are pre-packaged. The scone is tiny and not worth the money. The service isn't very friendly either. It's a shame, as the cafe itself is lovely.

After having been here quite a few years ago I decided to give it another go. To be honest I don't get what all the hype is about. The setting is nice and yes the food is nice but in my opinion very overpriced for a Farmshop cafe. You can most certainly expect a queue no doubt a number of the clientele are returning customers. On the couple of occasions I have been I always feel rushed to finish and move on. Yes I know there is a queue but it's to relax for a short time post eating.

Won’t be back! Stood in a queue with parents who are in their 80s, my mother has issues with her back and walks with a stick. She was happy to queue although I had suggested that we go elsewhere. Couldn’t believe it when members of staff came from the shop entrance and ushered their able bodied friends in the side door . When we eventually got into the restaurant and were seated I mentioned the queue jumping to the waitress, her response was”that’s a privilege of knowing the owners”!!!! Well, if the owners think it’s ok for their friends to jump the queue in front of a couple of octogenarians that’s fine but I’ll be going somewhere where all paying customers are treated equally!!!! The food...

"Without a doubt the worst experience we have ever had. Pre booked a table for 5 for dinner on Saturday evening and when we arrived they didn't seem that busy. We were shown to our table relatively quick. We then had to sit there for around 20 minutes until someone came to take our food order. I was a bit surprised that there was only 2 steaks on the menu unless you gave 24hr notice. We then had to ask could we order a drink. It wasn't a difficult order 1 beer and 4 Fanta. We waited a further 15 for the drinks to come which were wrong also the glasses were disgusting with lipstick and previous drink residue on them.we eventually got all that sorted and the food came. I had ordered a mixed grill which was £28 I asked for my steak to be cooked medium. The plates were literally just in front of us 2 minutes when a waitress came and asked was everything OK. As I began to work my way through the food I eventually got to the 8oz steak which was very well done and extremely hard to chew so it was left. When everyone had finished they came to clear the plates and I told the waitress that I had asked for medium and not well done and to my surprise she immediately got on the defensive asking did someone come and see if everything was OK I told her yes but it was just after the food was brought. 2 minutes later the owner of the place came out of the kitchen with my steak on a small plate and proceeded to tell me I was wrong and that that's the way a medium steak should look but there was not even a slight tinge of pink. He then started to tell me that I didn't know how steak was cooked. I then mentioned the glasses and he said didn't they get replaced so what's the problem. At this point t my kids were getting pretty upset so I just asked for the bill so we could leave. To be honest it was very intimidating to have a well over 6ft man stand over you arguing over a piece of steak. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone."

"Where to begin? Our mother decided to “treat” myself and my sister to lunch. However, soon our joy turned into laughter, and then to severe disappointment. My sister and I shared a “panini” of bacon, Brie and cranberry sauce. Firstly, the “panini” was a baguette...which had been seared then microwaved. The bacon was the best bit, yet had clearly reheated in a microwave. The Brie, was next to non-existent. The cranberry sauce, oh my goodness it was atrocious. Our “panini” was not a generous size for a grand price of half of which was filled with psychedelic blood-like sugary cranberry sauce (with giant chunks of cranberry). First when my sister took a bite I thought she was over exaggerating, for I had not tasted the cranberry sauce yet, it was upon my second bite the true horror of the “panini” had come to fruition. Picture this, expecting to have a bite of creamy Brie, crispy bacon, and tart cranberry sauce, and then instead being met with a taste that resembled sweetened jelly powder. I tried to convince myself that my tastebuds were deceiving me I fought through the overwhelming taste of sweeties, to attempt to taste the Brie, which in fact I couldn’t find. The bacon flavour barely made it through and the bread was more a sponge for soaking up the cranberry sauce. As you can see from the photo provided, in order to make some attempt at finishing the “panini”, my sister and I had to dissect it and surgically remove what looked like blood clots cranberries. To add to this horror, there was but a sad pile of coleslaw, apparently a pile of crinkle-cut crisps it wasn’t even to my surprise at this point that there was one solitary crinkle-cut crisp among a variety of other flavoured basic crisps. To top this all off, our mother bravely tried the pink foam substance (we still aren’t sure what it was) and she had to immediately reach for her glass of water to wash away the taste. This experience produced within us both feelings of guilt and shame. Guilt, because our mother (who rarely eats out) was attempting to “treat” us to brunch. She felt guilty at inflicting such a disastrous “panini” on us as a “treat”. Shame, because we are the type of family who NEVER leave food on our plates, yet we were so embarrassed about how it looked like we barely ate anything at all, so we quickly made an exit. In conclusion, the hot food needs serious reform. On a positive note, the staff seemed friendly."
